Molly Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 (edited) Hmmm... Interesting... http://news.sympatico.ctv.ca/home/speaker_harper_govt_breached_privilege/17c252f2 Did you expect any other rulings? The transgressions were pretty darned 'in your face'. I can't believe they had the nerve to try to brazen them out. It all has been carried with the same kind of clodhopper hubris as the 'disfunctional' election, the 'bet you won't' budget that followed it, and the 'reinvent the structure of our government' prorogation they then needed to save their sorry butts. More nerve than a bad tooth, these guys. Edited March 9, 2011 by Molly Quote "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!" — L. waldo Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 Hmmm... Interesting... http://news.sympatico.ctv.ca/home/speaker_harper_govt_breached_privilege/17c252f2 the Honorable Member from Beamsville neglected to provide any money quotes! (House Speaker) Milliken said the government breached parliamentary privilege by refusing to provide all documents the Standing Committee on Finance requested detailing the full cost of its crime bills and tax cuts.Milliken said MPs are entitled to know the initiatives' exact costs. The government has declined to reveal the full estimates, citing cabinet confidences. ... is there a problem? Is there a reason the open/transparent Harper Conservative government would refuse to provide the actual costs associated with it's "get tough on crime" facade... is there a reason it would refuse to divulge costs/impacts associated with its proposed tax cuts? The rulings mark the third time in less than a year that Milliken has said the government breached parliamentary privilege. Last year, he ruled against the government over its refusal to allow MPs to see all documents related to the alleged torture of Afghan detainees. whose government is this, anyway? Oh right... it's the Harper Government. Quote
