Last night, the Tories and the Bloc had their own coalition or alliance to keep the F-35 on track. Here's a PM that stands up daily and attacks this party(the Bloc) and its coalition with the other two opposition parties. Harper stands there and tells the Bloc how they will never hold government and really tells them they are a piece of ????! Then, when the Tories NEED the votes, they make a deal with the Bloc about jobs coming to Quebec if the F-35 gets passed and ordered. Now we know the ONLY reason the parties keep the Bloc in Ottawa to be USED for their own reasons when they need the votes. BTW, there is no guarantee of how many jobs and what exactly Quebec will get. http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/canada/breakingnews/joined-by-bloc-mps-tories-vote-down-call-for-open-jet-fighter-bids-110241504.html

1) The other parties have no say in whether the Bloc is in Ottawa. That is a choice made by Quebec voters.

2) A minority parliment is supposed to produce situations where difference parties collaborate on different issues. The Tories and the BQ finding common ground is a good thing.

3) There is a huge difference between one-off deals on a single issue and a promise to keep a coalition in power for many years. The later leaves the BQ with an effective veto over government policy.

And the Liberals and the NDP had their own coalition to vote against the Liberal motion. A coalition here, a coalition there.

The Bloc voted against the motion because the Liberals refused to amend it.

Bloc Leader Gilles Duceppe, whose province stands to gain an enormous amount of the F-35 work in Canada, said they could not support the Liberal motion because the Liberals were unwilling to amend it.

Duceppe said he wanted the Liberals to guarantee an equal amount of work for Quebec if the F-35 contract was canned.

"They refused that and we have made an amendment (but the Liberals) refuse to have an amendment within their motion, so we will vote against their motion," Duceppe said.

I didn't know about that deal. Do you have a link?

Tories and the Bloc together again

You have any evidence?

Never mind the fact Tory party is pretty much non-existent.

Well stop sending SOS and get on with the program.

The debate now is:

Tories and the Bloc together again

My point was that if you are a daily watcher of QP, the Tories are always standing up and telling the Bloc that they don't matter, they will never have power in the PMO, they don't care about Canada etc. Then, when Harper needs the votes badly, he makes a deal with the devil. WE know the Bloc is only out for Quebec, doesn't consider themselves Canadians but Quebecers. Of course, the Bloc has support in Quebec but I wonder if a Federal Quebecers party got together and call themselves the Quebec Federalist, which was Conservatives, Liberals and NDP, would the Bloc still be there? How would that change things for the other three parties?

Isn't that the truth?

Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one. Evidence is harder to come by.

Block did what every other provincial party does - what's the best for the province. Why would Block vote against Quebec jobs, cutting their own legs off?

Of course the Bloc would, but I'm talking about the government of Canada, flip-flopping on their views of the Bloc. Only in Canada where we have a separatist party in the House of Commons, who doesn't want to be a part of the the government of Canada but gladly excepts the pay cheques and pensions.

IOW, federal bureaucrats/politicians got what they wanted.

It's nice to be able to spend other people's money.

At some point though, the "other people" will object.
