Hot off the wires... from The Guardian...

China supports the "independent and peaceful reunification of the Korean peninsula" and cannot afford to give the North Korean regime the impression it has a blank cheque to act any way it wants, Chinese officials based in Europe said today.

The officials, who asked not to be identified, spoke after the Guardian revealed that senior figures in Beijing, exasperated with North Korea behaving like a "spoiled child", had told their South Korean counterparts that China was leaning towards acceptance of reunification under Seoul's control.

Looks like someone has a new patronizing catch phrase !

bjre, if China comes out and officially admits it wants the south to take over North Korea, what will you say then ?

I don't care what officially say. I believe US want do robbery is the fundamental reason the world is full of disasters, even many governments willing to blind to that. I think North Korea is maybe the last place that people believe spirit life is more important than material life, I believe it deserve to be preserved and protected.

Ah my, that was funny. Defending one of the most tyrannical regimes on the planet, with a basket-case economy that requires it frequently lob missiles and shells around just to get attention.

Frankly, anyone who defends the Kims and the generals of NK, in my opinion, is either a right bastard or an idiot. It's pretty clear not even Beijing likes these guys (probably never did, but had to make kissy-kissy to old man Kim for geopolitical reasons).

You're on the wrong side of history, my friend. The US, whatever its sins, has done more to save the world in the last sixty years than almost any other state. It isn't perfect, but I'd sooner have it as top dog than some of the alternatives.

The Sudanese government certainly feels that way.

:)

Thanks, TB. I hoped somebody would nail the obvious.

It reminds me of discussions in early 2003, when we were informed that "Eastern (New) Europe" supported the Iraq War.

Totally true, so long as you discount the population.

As scarce as truth is, the supply has always been in excess of the demand.

It may not be the last place, but it certainly is true.

North Koreans have absolutely SFA to their name, spirituality is the only thing they have.

It'd be great for them, ya know, if they could eat it, drink it, drive it and make money off it. But alas they can't.

Yea me....I have spirit life! Can you spare a few Won for some soup?

That's because you are another frog in a well. You don't understand that for a Marxist, the revolutionaly principle is "the proletarians must liberate the whole mankind and only then can they liberate themselves". I think that can be called Selflessness.
