He thinks that if he worked for NPR, he'd be fired. I agree with him. He probably would have been.

Also agree with his concern. It's at the very least, a disconcerting situation in Europe/England.

I'm sure Maher would be alarmed if Jesus was the top baby name too. He is opposed to organized religion. And of course, the problem with the Muslims is that way too many of them continue to try to live up to the nastier tenets of their old book.

Not really. Jesus is a very popular name in Central and South America. It's also a fairly popular name in the Southwestern United States. Nobody really cares.

I just checked, I don't care if Mohommed is a popular name in Britain either.

Good thing it's wasn't a conservative saying that, they would've been crucified by now.

It's a popular name where people are extremely religious. Extremely religious Christians are annoying. Extremely religious Muslims are dangerous.

Sorry to pooh-pooh your victimhood complex, which you enjoy so much. But conservatives say worse things every day, and not one has ever been "crucified." Either you've never watched FoxNews or you're just plain dishonest.

Now, if he were a liberal who worked for NPR, he would be fired. That much is true.

But Bill Maher can tell you all about being fired because of oversensitivity.

Even if it is disconcerting to some, not sure what anyone can do about it. Write laws against naming your kid Mohammed? Or laws preventing muslims from having more babies? How about making more "white" babies instead? Start a baby-making war...

What do you propose can be done about it?

Promote Curly and Larry (peace be upon them) over Mo.

Wow, more creative thinking 101 LOL

Both sides say things, but so far I don't see anyone complaining about Bill Maher but as you know, if it were a conservative, everyone would be all abuzz

Then why is there no buzz when conservatives say such things? When was there a buzz before?

Uh, isn't this the same message that got Mark Steyn a trip before the human rights tribunal?

He was never before a human rights tribunal. The Islamic Congress made a complaint, but the complaint was dismissed. And considering conservatives make derogatory comments about muslims every day, I would say Maher is actually drawing more heat than a conservative would. You're only aware of it because he's a liberal.

Once again, the conservative victim isn't really one at all.

But it must feel nice and self-righteous to be seen as one.

That's true. It was Ezra Levant that was summoned before a human rights tribunal. For doing a story on the rioting/Denmark cartoon.

I believe it was primarily his remark about "culling" the Muslim population which aroused the most controversy.

However, he should be permitted freely to bloviate, in my view.

As scarce as truth is, the supply has always been in excess of the demand.
