Bryant Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Some of the Arguments I recently came across , May prove that Legalising Marihuana would be Brutal on our Health Care system........the same thing I read that the Gay Lifestyle-- shortens a A Persons Life Span by Twenty Years.....We must Decide just what we want in this Country and what we can afford or are willing to pay for---just like they say smokers of cigarettes are a drain on the Health Care System....We might save on Court Costs Prosecuting Pot Crimes and Policing and be able to make big money taxing Grass but would Sky Rocketing Health Care Costs be the Result...... Black Dog Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 How would a drug with no proven negative long-term effects damage our health care system? Quote
caesar Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 That is right Black Dog. Marijuana has many proven uses as an effective medicine with out the serious side effects of prescription drugs. For many conditions it would provide good viable medication at a very minimal cost. Why do you think the USA is so dead set against it. It is my guess that the drug companies do not want to lose all the money for prescription drugs. I t could save the Health system lots of money. People could even grow their own. Take this valuable commodity out of the drug dealers hands and save policing money for more serious criminal activity. Have legitimate growers who will pay taxes and contribute to our government tax base. Quote
August1991 Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 If the State decides to forbid by law, it must have the ability to enforce its law. (The best law is self-regulating; it requires no legislator.) Canadian police cannot enforce marijuana laws. Let us be practical, and honest. We must change the law. Quote
BuzzzWorthy Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 Even the most cursory review of the marijuana laws in canada and how they got enacted would leave even the most staunch critic of legalization scratching his head. I got Jack Layton to sign the handouts that are drawing such attention of late. The NDP without a doubt are miles ahead of the other two parties on this issue. Quote
