There was actually a recent poll showing that Winnipeggers now view the downtown as safe....with some very good reasons I might add. This article -- Winnipeg's Wave of Crime -- from less than a year ago says: Global National recently commissioned a poll. The results showed that people in Winnipeg are scared of gangs, guns and random shootings. And it says that while there has always been crime, it's getting worse: Every day, the crimes get more heinous. Quote

But..crime is not getting worse.
