maple_leafs182 Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 Yes that's generally what happens in socialism/communism. you will see the same results with democracy/capitalism Quote │ _______ [███STOP███]▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ :::::::--------------Conservatives beleive ▄▅█FUNDING THIS█▅▄▃▂- - - - - --- -- -- -- -------- Liberals lie I██████████████████] ...◥⊙▲⊙▲⊙▲⊙▲⊙'(='.'=)' ⊙
Machjo Posted May 7, 2010 Author Report Posted May 7, 2010 you will see the same results with democracy/capitalism Perhaps corporatism is the way to go? Quote With friends like Zionists, what Jew needs enemies? With friends like Islamists, what Muslim needs enemies?
Bonam Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 My dad watched the begining of the first cracks forming in the old SOVIET UNION. He said the system got so top heavey with a huge government and over extended bureacracy that 10% of the people did the actual work and real wealth creation...while the other 90% formed a parasitic and unsustainable system of uselessness...sounds familiar hugh? you will see the same results with democracy/capitalism Not really. By that time you got that 90% parasitic uselessness in the government and only 10% of the people doing actual work, it's not "capitalism" any more, not even close. Quote
Pliny Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 you will see the same results with democracy/capitalism Democracy, once it becomes known you can vote yourself favours and entitlement, changes capitalism to socialism. Quote I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.
Bonam Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Democracy, once it becomes known you can vote yourself favours and entitlement, changes capitalism to socialism. That's why democracy needs to be tempered with a constitution that carves in stone the limitations of the powers of government. Quote
Machjo Posted May 8, 2010 Author Report Posted May 8, 2010 Why is it that every thread boils down to cliches about capitalism, democracy and socialism. Such terms have become meaningless. On a technical level, what precise solutions would you present to clean up the economy, rather than just throwing about clished generalizations? Quote With friends like Zionists, what Jew needs enemies? With friends like Islamists, what Muslim needs enemies?
Pliny Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 That's why democracy needs to be tempered with a constitution that carves in stone the limitations of the powers of government. Precisely! Two centuries of the American constitution is a good illustration of how governments will try and circumvent any restrictions to their powers. If America, in my view had kept vigilant and followed along with Old Hickory, Andrew Jackson, who kept the banks and the political interests at bay the world would have turned out a lot different. Quote I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.
bush_cheney2004 Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 ....If America, in my view had kept vigilant and followed along with Old Hickory, Andrew Jackson, who kept the banks and the political interests at bay the world would have turned out a lot different. President Jackson did a fine job keeping the "Indians" at bay too. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Pliny Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 President Jackson did a fine job keeping the "Indians" at bay too. In his time Indians didn't have the vote. Nor did blacks, slaves or women. There was much to learn in the definition of landowner, citizen and human being. It doesn't make Jackson's contribution to the definition of America any less. Quote I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.
Pliny Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 That's why democracy needs to be tempered with a constitution that carves in stone the limitations of the powers of government. One of the fundamentals we can agree upon. The US constitution attempted to do that but governments do have their ways. Quote I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.
