Mr.Canada Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 Anyone catch it? I watched it on TV today. PM Harper gives predictable answers but he sounded good, calm and composed. Quote "You are scum for insinuating that isn't the case you snake." -William Ashley Canadian Immigration Reform Blog
Bonam Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 I'm just watching it right now, about half way through. He did a good job. I actually hadn't listened to Harper speak in French before and was pleasantly surprised by how clear he sounded (to my anglophone ears), was able to understand everything he said with no problem. I liked his answer on senate reform. Quote
DrGreenthumb Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 I thought he sounded like his usual douchebag self. His answer to the number one voted question about pot legalization was just the same old bullshit. All the harms he attributed to cannabis would be more rightly attributed to prohibition. I didn't expect much from that lowlife so he didn't disapoint me. Quote
Bonam Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 I just saw that part where the student from Toronto asked about Childcare. In his question, he mentioned that there are 5 million kids in Canada and 1/3 of them are being taken care of by stay home mothers. He then went on to say how our economy would benefit if all these mothers stopped taking care of their children and instead joined the workforce... Frankly, I couldn't help but be utterly disgusted by this person. Has he no idea of the concept of parents actually raising their children? There are untold benefits to having a stay at home parent, they can provide love and support and attention for their children, something that is not available at a daycare facility where workers are processing many children at a time. Watching that person I felt like he'd like nothing so much as parents never seeing their children again after birth. Just a big socialist paradise where worker drones occasionally procreate and surrender the products of their reproductive processes to the state so they too can be properly trained as additional drones. Topaz Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 He also admitted there were (PROLBEMS) and evidence of mistreatment by the Afghani government and Canada took action to correct them. So by his own words, the detainees were being mistreated BUT have they shown anything of mistreatment in the documents? I think not, because it wasn't written down or blacked out. Quote

People are mistreated in prisons in Canada everyday. I've personally seen co's beating inmates many times yet nothing done about this. I've seen so many people crammed into hoolding cells with no air that it was hard to breath and their was perspiration on the plexi windwos. This, in Canada, nothigng is done. As soon as it happens in some far away land it's a big deal....give me a break. I thought his answers on Senate reform were great. If the provinces would elect their own senators he would appoint them. This seems very fair, I don't understand the problem. Getting to choose the senators you want sounds great.
