Stephen Colbert called Palin a f*****g retard last week, in what was a pretty funny dialogue. However, she hasn't asked for any type of apology from him.

Hardly consistent. As has been pointed out already, she didn't hesitate to call Letterman on his satire in the past, so she has no problem with singling out private citizens. She's obviously just very select about who she calls on such things.

This time, however, with Colbert, even she's not too stupid to realize she's painted herself into a corner with her defense of Rush. I'm sure parents of "retarded" children everywhere appreciate the fact that she's as much as popularized and legitimized the use of the term from anyone but a Democratic public official.

I don't know why defenders of Palin and Limbaugh are so sensitive. But I do know that your compass is distorted here.

And you don't even mean what you say here. Think logically. If I am "THE last person" who should call anyone stupid, then this means, by definition, that I am the MOST stupid. That's what the phrase means.

I'll spell it out for you. By not knowing that Bristol wasn't in NYC, too. Letterman apologized, even as he said it was aimed at Bristol, not Willow. Because he didn't know which daughter was with Palin. And Bristol is the famous one of the two. (Without looking back through this thread, I personally cannot even now recall the other daughter's name.)

Don't get me wrong: it's not a terrific joke by any means.

It's a nothing of a joke. Catapulted into infamy only by outraged Palin admirers, and by Palin herself, who has become a media whore of the highest order.

I'm not even set on defending Letterman, whom I don't watch and care nothing about. But the statutory rape remarks are, I believe, way off base.

I expect that they will have to terminate him with extreme prejudice, or just send the tabloids some nice photoshopped photos of him in a Motel 6 with a shaved chimp and a large mound of white powder.
