Oleg Bach Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Very few recieve a real education. For the most part it is not educational but conditional. We from the get go are conditioned for a specific purpose. It's like when you apply for a job within government or within a private corporation..they really don't care if you are educated but they do care if you are conditioned to follow through without question the agenda of the employer..whether you are a danger - threat of any kind or disruption of any sort..IF you have been though the public school system and have graduated out of the university system then you are welcome because compliance to their ultimate will has been proven. I watched about Haiti in the beginning with a need to truly understand what had happened to them. To see how bad it was. Now, I do watch a bit here and there because it amazes me to see the amount of aid and money that has gone there and yet I see still see so many people in trouble. I have no doubt that a lot of media is using this to grandstand stories and get viewer's attention but at the same time it is an education in reality. Firstly, in what natural disasters mean to a society and secondly it instills in most that age old need to help, it boosts compassion. It is like watching Hitler tapes. I can hardly do it, I have to make myself. One would ask why we should make ourselves watch it....so we can learn. To never let our government get that much power over us again. What did I learn from Haiti? Well, I learned that if we had a half a dozen retrofitted good sized ships for Doctors Without Border's that hundreds of thousands of hurt people could of been cared for just off shore(just on shore). A floating flotilla of hospitals if you will. Watching this gave me the idea and the gumption to convince a few good friends that this was a good idea, who in turn convinced a few. We'll see where we get with it over the next few years. Better late than never. Quote
Wooster Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 First off- Great Video, spot on ( although I'm uncertain if I should laugh or bawl) I've noticed this trend of sensationalism on the news getting worse and worse. It is to the point where it is almost difficult to tell the difference between a real newscast and an entertainment show. In an era where every story seems to require a catchy tagline and flashy graphics, I miss the sort of news I used to deem ''boring'' as a child. I find it vulgar, in an almost Orwellian sense, to see how they push the stories they want to feed us, using the same keywords and atticisms even when you switch from station to station. I'm only too happy that this isn't quite as widespread in Canada as it is in the USA (as Michael Hardner pointed out, it IS scary how much fox looks like a real news show) But I do believe that the days of true journalism are dead and gone. Goodbye thought, Hello ADD Oh well... Quote ''Thank god I'm an Atheist !''
