But I want to know how some of these people feel when they criticize, say for example, Hillary Clinton for wearing a veil, or Barack Obama for wearing a Turban. Can I assume now that Harper has made your list of spineless self-haters who want to love the brown man? Edited November 18, 2009 by Sir Bandelot Quote

Sir Bandelot Posted November 18, 2009 Author Report Posted November 18, 2009 (edited) I too have no problem with those in Rome doing as Romans... Right, but I think that you like many people don't like veils? So it's ok for our men to wear turbans, because we know that they WANT to. And other men can obviously continue to wear turbans. Women however should not be allowed to wear the veil... even if they WANT to. Edited November 18, 2009 by Sir Bandelot Quote

I already raised in the thread about Clinton and the scarf the example of non-Hindu ministers of the Crown wearing headcoverings at Diwali in Toronto. Unsurprisingly, it was ignored. M.Dancer Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 Right, but I think that you like many people don't like veils? I think that you, like many people, don't know the difference between a veil and a kerchief. A viel covers the face. A kerchief covers the head. A turban also covers the head. So it's ok for our men to wear turbans, because we know that they WANT to. And other men can obviously continue to wear turbans. Women however should not be allowed to wear the veil... even if they WANT to. As far as whether someone should be allowed to cover their face, I think it is dependant on the circumstance and the totality of the covering. Women wearing a burkha while driving scare me...so do masked bank robbers. Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us

A kerchief covers the head. A turban also covers the head. Mr. Dancer says that he approves of the kerchief, but not the veil. What kind of kerchief, Mr. Dancer? Is it allowed to go down the sides of the head? Or just a small covering on the top. Red and white checkerboard, with the pony tail, or without? Please let us know of your advisement... Quote

Sir Bandelot Posted November 18, 2009 Author Report Posted November 18, 2009 Lots of people seem to have that problem with you, Mr. Dancer. Whatsamatter, ne pas parle le english language? Could it just be due to your poor writing skills? Quote
GostHacked Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 Women however should not be allowed to wear the veil... even if they WANT to. Many ladies who are getting married might want to wear the veil. Let's see how they feel about it. Quote

Could it just be due to your poor writing skills? My writing skills are fine. I honestly am hoping your nonsense is due to your inability to read plain english and not becase you feel that using a strawman will help your pathetic excuse for an argument. Let me help you through this difficult period... Right, but I think that you like many people don't like veils? Where have I given you any impression that I care about women's fashion? Women however should not be allowed to wear the veil... even if they WANT to. If that's what you think, you are welcome to your opinion but please don't assume I share your beliefs. Mr. Dancer says that he approves of the kerchief, but not the veil. Feel free to find where I say I approve of the kerchief or disapprove the viel. It seems along with not knowing the differnce bewteen a veil and a kerchief, you also don't know the difference between making a good argument and making one built on strawmwen. Good luck on your next attempt not to look foolish. Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us

I think religions which require you wear goofy clothes are goofy themselves, but I suppose it's akin to the little plastic caps you have to wear when you enter sterile production environments. You wear them or you don't go in there. You are my strawman, Dancer. I'm only using you for a puppet, because you set yourself up for it. You offered that ass up so high... Notice the real strawmen are staying away, because they know who I am talking to. Certainly not you... what makes you think I'm talking to you? What would be the point? Oleg Bach Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 Or Hillary Clinton putting on some embroidered Afghan jacket while acting like an American President visting Afghanistan to give her blessings like some second rate crazed mafia Don? What's more cheezy are the jerks who put on those silk robes and parade around China like they are part of one big happy family? Or - putting on a Yamaka and becoming and honourary Jew for five minutes during a photo op? If Harper wants to put on a turban then I expect him to show up at the gay pride parade with wearing high cut leather shorts with the bum cut out - after all he must embrace all cultures. Quote
fellowtraveller Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 I have been to the Golden Temple in Amritsar, men are expected to cover their heads and go barefoot, it would be grossly insensitive to do otherwise. Harper does look pretty silly, though not nearly as goofy as the culturally appropriate Dion wearing that undersized Stetson in Calgary...... Quote The government should do something.

There is an Orthodox Ethopian Church next to my place - I have entered during cerimonies. I show total respect. But I do not dare partake in the activities because I really don't have a clue of what's going on. You can show respect without having to pander or fake it. There are people who will not allow you to enter their home without taking off your shoes - I avoid these people and their dwellings. Besides being the shortest of four brothers..I need the extra heel height. No one is going to make me an inch shorter if I can help it. BUT - I would consider taking off my shoes if I was entering a Temple in Amristar...cos' the adventure would be worth the humiliation.* Quote

Oleg Bach Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 Propoganda means to propogate an illusion that might serve the deseminator...Hillary Clinton dressing in and Afghani jacket makes it look like "I am one of you" _ it would have been more impressive if she stepped out of the hotel bathroom wearing the Afghani presidents bath robe..now that would be diplomatic! JaysFan Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 Can you imagine the howls of outrage from the Cons on here if a Liberal PM done this. Quote
Oleg Bach Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 Liberals do this stuff all the time. Look at the RCMP ordeal - they stuck turbans on a whole wack of officers! Look at the supposed cut throat opportunist mayor of Toronto..he puts on his gay out fit for the parade..and no one howls because they know it's all about pandering to absolutely everyone. Some people will do anything to be liked..Cons are no different than the liberals. It takes a brave and astutely strong person to stand up and not care who thinks what...and do what's right - that's called a leader..a person who is not worried about career or re-election - We don't have people like that anymore. So I guess I will scramble and get dressed to attend a gay wedding.....NOPE..could not do it - because it's not real and smacks of the worst kind of crippling social engineering that can take place...so I guess if I was an offical I would not be re-elected...so what..someone has to take the fall.
