Wilber Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 How did Martin vote or did he just weasel out and not show? Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC
Wilber Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 I see 84 MP's were absent for the vote. So much for prinicples. Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC
Topaz Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Is it possible over this tax that the Tory Feds and the Libs could suffer in the next elections? It wouldn't surprise me that the NDP's take the next Ontario election. I'm hearing more people saying so. The Ontario Tory has the Harris era still over it and people have had enough with the Libs. As far as the Feds go, the people still may give a minority to the NDP. The Tories are bring down the Libs so much I think its helping the NDP. Quote
madmax Posted December 4, 2009 Author Report Posted December 4, 2009 I see 84 MP's were absent for the vote. So much for prinicples. The was an agreement between the Conservatives and the Liberals to move the vote up 15 minutes, and surprise, many of the LPC and CPC MPs in BC missed the vote through not fault of their own. Quote

It wouldn't surprise me that the NDP's take the next Ontario election. Federally, the NDP are now poised to gain a few more seats in Ontario. They are already at a record numer of seats in Ontario. If you asked me 6 months ago, the chances of the NDP holding onto all their Ontario seats, I'd start laughing. Now, its serious, they will gain some seats. Provincially, still an uphill battle. The Ontario NDP never changed their name like other parties that have created credibility issues. The Rae effect is getting distant, and the NDP have a leader that is gaining more credibility then the new PC leader Hudak. But, many people are just as disenchanted with the Liberals and may turn to the PCs just because. The Ontario NDP have their work cut out for them. However, I see a minority government in Ontario in 2 years. I'm hearing more people saying so. The Ontario Tory has the Harris era still over it and people have had enough with the Libs. As far as the Feds go, the people still may give a minority to the NDP. The Tories are bring down the Libs so much I think its helping the NDP. The NDP are helping the NDP because they are consistent from Province to Province and Federally. The NDP doesn't support regressive taxes. People understand that Tax Breaks are going to Tim Hortons and more taxes shifted onto the public who eat there. Quote

You have just given everyone on this board reason to believe you're stoned. Debate can take place over the NDP in Ontario (as unlikely as a victory could be), but to say that the Federal election could be in favor of the NDP is beyond ridiculous. madmax Posted December 6, 2009 Author Report Posted December 6, 2009 An 8% Ripoff Not normally does the Toronto Sun give the NDP free reign, not even on a Sunday. The Papers were very much against the HST until Newspapers were taken off the list, then a huge wave of pro HST articles came out. Surprise. So for the Sun to continue with this populist approach is interesting. Perhaps because the Sun supports the Provincial Tories against the HST as well. It's his way of saying, Merry Christmas. There will be no consultations on the HST law. No committee hearings. No opportunity for Canadians to have their say. Harper doesn't want to hear from retiree groups, real estate associations, minor hockey organizations, First Nations Chiefs, provincial premiers and many, many others who have declared their opposition. He wants this out of the way as quickly as possible. He wants you to hang this tax on Premier McGuinty. He wants you to get used to this tax grab so you won't blame him for it in the next election. We won't let Stephen Harper skip the blame. It appears the NDP are sinking their teeth in. Quote
robert_viera Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 (edited) BILL C-62 An Act to amend the Excise Tax Act Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows: SHORT TITLE 1. madmax Posted December 10, 2009 Author Report Posted December 10, 2009 That's a funny observation. Good eye... As for the thread title... The NDP is the only party in the EKOs poll to gain ground. Will see if that trend continues after Christmas. The HST will likely fall off the media radar.... but will it fall off the publics??? Quote
Jack Weber Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 It will for a while.I think the disgust will pick up in the spring and into the summer as the effects of this turd begin to take place... As for the provincial election that will take place in Ontario in less than 2 years??? Every Liberal and Con seat is in play... Quote The beatings will continue until morale improves!!!

There are laws against smoking that shit. OK,Hydraboss, personal attacks are the way of life in Alberta and the Fed. Tories have proved that over and over again. IF you don't agree with me then say so but not with the personal insults. I never seen pot or smoke anything, so this just shows how bad your judgement is! Outside of Alberta,IF the voters are getting fed up with this government and the Liberals aren't together as a party, then yes, it could happen, as a minority government. After all, if the Alliance can form a minority government under the Tory name why can't the NDP? We need a government for the people not for THEMSELVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
