Bin Laden demands

This is pretty interesting coming from someone with bin Laden's track record:

We are not demanding anything unjust. It is just for you to end injustice and withdraw your soldiers (from Afghanistan)," he said in the tape, released on the Internet with a background picture of bin Laden and with German and English subtitles.

"One of the greatest injustices is to kill people unjustly, and this is exactly what your governments and soldiers are committing under the cover of the NATO alliance in Afghanistan," bin Laden said in the recording, entitled "A message to the people of Europe."

"It is shameful to be part of an alliance whose leader does not care about spilling the blood of human beings by bombing villages intentionally," he said, referring to civilian deaths in missile attacks against Taliban fighters in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Of course all of the people killed in attacks by al Qaeda, all of those innocent civilian deaths, evidently have not been shameful.

Of course they were shameful. Bin Laden clearly needs to find better more constructive way's of protesting the injustices he's talking about.

In the meantime I fail to see how one injustice cancels out another - it simply compounds things. Pointing one out without pointing out the other is...pointless.

The west should issue an ultimatum to Bin Laden. Unless he turns himself in to face justice we will send an unmarried girl to school to learn to read and we will send another one every day he remains in hiding.

Perhaps he could start with concerning himself with the injustices he and his fellow Muslims are intentionally inflicting on innocent Afghan and Iraqi civilians.

I don't believe that the U.S. "intentionally" targeted innocent civilians. Can't say the same for bin Laden, al Qeada, or the Taliban -- whose attacks account for more civilians deaths than U.S. air raids do.

Being an anti western terrorist (OBL) you feel compelled to give him some slack....that and you are incapable from telling right from wrong.

That would be a good start. I wonder why are these not speaking out themselves or joining the west against him in droves?

Probably. I guess I wasn't just refering to air raids - there's a much bigger picture involved here that contains western injustices that stretch back 60 years and more. Decades in which countless people have been killed or tortured - often both.

I feel I must point out, like Bush_Cheney 2004 would, that this is not just about the US. We're all just as guilty of indifference whether its one, three thousand or countless deaths.

I'm quite capable of telling right from wrong, I just haven't seen anything (in the bigger picture) that compels me to cut the west any more or less slack.

It's always taken two to tango.

No don't cut the west slack, keep all your slack for those you feel sympathy for, like OBL.

What slack? I clearly said I have none to give.

Civilian deaths from coalition vs. the Taliban has been about 50-50, until very recently when general McChrystal announced a stronger effort to avoid killing civilians.

Any stats on how many people died in western dictatorships that were being propped up by the Taliban?

I didn't see Eyeball give any slack to terrorists. He simply said one injustice does not cancel another. He's right.

You need tinfoil...to tune in the same signals that Morris is somehow always able to read between the lines.

Except you have to be brain damaged to see it that way. One (OBL) attacks civilians on puprose with the goal to inflict the maximum amount of civilian death. The other (Us) doesn't.

By comparing the two and saying we are the same, Eyeball gives OBL all the slack he has ever wanted...to be a legitimate force.

I don't appreciate this name calling.

Why the need to compare?

He never said they are the same. He said one injustice does not excuse another. You are the one who is comparing.

Hello?

One injustice

+

Another injustice

=

The same. (both are injustices according to EB)

How does one conclude two injustices are the same without comparing?

I will concede though he is incapable of comparing justice from injustice being berift of a moral compass.

The "need" to compare would be because "injustices" are not all equal in the eyes of the law because the intent is not the same. For example, manslaughter, an accidental death, is treated differently by the courts than Murder 1. Wouldn't you say, if you were under the influence and lost control of your car on icy roads and hit and killed someone, that would be different from if you had plotted, planned, and purposely killed that person? Wouldn't those two situations be different, even though both ended in an "injustice?"

Wouldn't you feel the need to clarify if someone were to speak of you in the same regard as charles manson?

That's not what I was comparing though.

Sure you didn't.

Why do you have such an aggressive and unpleasant tone?

If you are here to find a boyfriend or to hear someone say "oh what a new and enlightening viewpoint you have naomiglover" you have come to the wrong place.
