Shady
Federal authorities failed to follow through on plans earlier this year to burn away highly flammable brush in a forest on the edge of Los Angeles to avoid the very kind of wildfire now raging there... Months before the huge blaze erupted, the U.S. Forest Service obtained permits to burn away the undergrowth and brush on more than 1,700 acres of the Angeles National Forest. But just 193 acres had been cleared by the time the fire broke out, Forest Service resource officer Steve Bear said. The agency defended its efforts, saying weather, wind and environmental rules tightly limit how often these "prescribed burns" can be conducted... Some critics suggested that protests from environmentalists over prescribed burns contributed to the disaster, which came after the brush was allowed to build up for as much as 40 years. "This brush was ready to explode," said Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich... "The environmentalists have gone to the extreme to prevent controlled burns, and as a result we have this catastrophe today."... Link Thank you wingnuts, for the death and massive destruction that's occured, because of your "love and protection" of the earth. How's that working out now? GostHacked
How often does Califonia get wildfires?? Like every year? At least for the last 10 or so. http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2008/06/24/c...rnia-fires.html 2008 http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2007/oct/22/usa 2007 http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6389977 2006 And if this is the case Some critics suggested that protests from environmentalists over prescribed burns contributed to the disaster, which came after the brush was allowed to build up for as much as 40 years. Why has it taken 40 years of Liberals and Conservatives of not doing anything about it? *yawn* Quote Google : Webster Griffin Tarpley, Gerald Celente, Max Keiser ohm on soundcloud.com

Guest American Woman
... Some critics suggested that protests from environmentalists over prescribed burns contributed to the disaster, which came after the brush was allowed to build up for as much as 40 years. Well, if "some critics" have "suggested" that "liberals" have "contributed" to the disaster, then I guess it's obvious that liberals are indeed to blame. Never mind that it was arson, that it's been determined that someone actually set the fire. Get all worked up about what "some critics" have "suggested." California: Fire Is Called Arson The deadly wildfire that has burned nearly 150,000 acres was started by arson and is being investigated as a homicide, officials said. After an investigation, officials with the United States Forest Service determined that the fire had been intentionally started.....

Guest American Woman
Didn't know that environmentalists were automatically Liberal. They're not, as this site will attest to. Republicans for Environmental Protection, Yet I'm seeing "liberal environmentalists responsible for California fire" all over the net.
