Guest TrueMetis Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 lol...no it is you that do not understand. Once the virus is in your system, you have several days where you can move across country without showing symptoms. Once it reaches its infectious state, who the hell knows where the victim might end up? Could be hundreds of miles away. What Europeans had that the Native Indians didn't is some basic immunities which meant variola killed only about 30% of the cases...more if dealing with the hemorrhagic strains. Survivors were scared for life. Native Indians generally did not have these immunities so even a 'mild' case of variola often killed them deader than a doornail. A small percentage did have some natural immunities and thus survived to tell the tale. Cowpox was where the first innoculations came from; it was noted that milkmaids generally didn't catch variola while they did generally catch the cowpox rash which affected the hands. What you don't get is a 95% death rate doesn't occour from accidental exposure. Quote

OK...so you believe the evil white man had an evil plan then. There are other whack-jobs out there who believe the same so you're not alone. Perhaps an ad on Craigslist will allow you all to meet. charter.rights Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Where do you think governments get the money for this supposed "duty"? From the land and resources they never paid for. Bryan Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 From the land and resources they never paid for. Hardly. Government money comes out of MY pocket, and I had nothing to do with what happened hundreds of years ago. I owe the aboriginals nothing, therefore my government owes them nothing. Stop wallowing in the past. Move on. Quote
jbg Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 911 was a bunch of fucked up terrorists and the moon landing was real. charter.rights Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 (edited) Hardly. Government money comes out of MY pocket, and I had nothing to do with what happened hundreds of years ago. I owe the aboriginals nothing, therefore my government owes them nothing.Stop wallowing in the past. Move on. Incorrect. Money in Canada primarily is derived directly or indirectly from natural resources. The money in your pocket likely comes from that stream. Money from land - which involves hundreds of millions each day - is still derived from unceded lands, or treaty lands where aboriginals have not been consulted. Lands and money held in trust by the government of Canada for the benefit of Six Nations alone, is estimated to equal over $1 Trillion and gaining interest at a rate of about $3 billion a year. That isn't YOUR money. It belongs to Six Nations. Same goes for the hundreds of billions held in trust for other First Nations across Canada. Tax does not belong to you. It is removed from the source BEFORE you get your hands on it. Tax belongs to the government and is redistributed to the rest of Canada for our common benefit. You have no say in how it is spent. If the government of Canada has spent the trusts, then that still makes them responsible for it. And if it was spent it was for your and my benefit then we ultimately become responsible for it. Tax therefore CAN and WILL be used to pay down that debt. That's life. Get over it and move on.....
