Smallc Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 If your insurance in Manitoba is as you describe it then it isn't long for this world. MPI has such a small overhead that it does just fine. In fact, MPI has such large reserves that it often has to give rebates at the end of the year. Soon, we're going to have even cheaper insurance also, as the merit system is being overhauled. I believe the Public Utilities Board has told them to wait 5 years for significantly lower rates, but there will be some savings right away. Quote
Smallc Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 obviously you have never been a broker. A cheap plan that's crap is still crap. Quote

benny Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Ask how hurtful a broken promise is to a child. Most brokers and politicians remain childish in their very expertise at finding all kind of excuses for their broken promises. Quote
Alta4ever Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 A cheap plan that's crap is still crap. cheap does not make a plocy crap, lack of insured perils does, but we are compairing price not insured perils, they are the control in the reports. I believe the Public Utilities Board has told them to wait 5 years for significantly lower rates, but there will be some savings right away. Unless it's overhead gets smaller every year it can't sustain itself. Punked said it's rates over five years increased only 5%. That's 1% per year. It's losing money every year just through inflation and if it doesn't calculate that in at all I would think there are other oversights as well. I suspect there are errors in the studies or in the interpretation of them. Government is inefficient but not that dumb. jbg Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 Probably because it exposes socialism as the fraud that it is. Socialism only spreads misery "equally." And makes people feel "better" for it. Unfortunately that is quite true. The only signal people respond to, other than in very short term, is money. The result of socialism is that eventually people start producing less and taking more. Even in a mixed system such as Canada's health care didn't break down right away. Doctors kept coming to work and patients, at first, kept coming about as often as they came previously for care. As the system ages, medicine becomes less desirable as a profession to enter, and people who want attention find reasons to seek it, for example. This eventually causes the system to break down. It takes time and is not overnight, but overall socialism is not a good system. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone."
