August1991 Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 (edited) On a different forum, I found this Lucien Bouchard ad for the Bloc from the 1993 federal election, available on Youtube. If you can manage even a bit of French, you should watch this simple talking head ad. The Bloc under Duceppe in 2009 is very far from the Bloc under Bouchard in 1993. There is a political vacuum in Quebec now and any federal political party with any sense could fill it. Edited July 25, 2009 by August1991 Quote

August1991 Posted July 27, 2009 Author Report Posted July 27, 2009 (edited) You just said an oxy moron a political party with any sense....Fair enough. But I happen to think that our three federalist parties are lead by thinking, reasonable men.Too bad for Conservatives that Harper burned that bridge isn't it?No, he hasn't.----- Let me take a federalist, and historical view here. The point ignored is that the Bloc has changed so much since 1993, and it's not merely the style of Bouchard (compared to Duceppe). Seen from 2009, it is hard not to view the Bloc as another example of regional frustration - just as the Progressives, UFO, Créditistes, Reform, UN, Social Credit were in the past. How about Joseph Howe's Anti-Confederates? What is the PQ? [The UFO is an interesting example because we may see something similar in the near future. The UFO was a regional party based in Ontario. The Ontario PCs may become something similar.] Ideology drives modern American politics and the politics of individual European countries. Regionalism (not ideology) drives Canadian politics.
