This is the system the Liberals put in place. For Ignatieff to suddenly get on his high horse (he never previously mentioned he cared about EI) and threaten an election on the issue without acknowledging that is pretty two-faced.

And Ignatieff is one man. All the shysters and hucksters who were in power before are still in the party, many of them in his shadow cabinet. Hedy Fry is in his shadow cabinet! What does that say about change in the Liberal party?

And so I'm asking, what did Ignatieff have to do with any of that? Also, there are more than likely a multitude of factors that shape how people vote....EI is most certainly not the only reason that people in certain regions tend to vote certain ways.

No, they most certainly are not. Canadians, by and large, respond quite well to bribery, even if it is with our own money.

Ignatieff's only real problem is that Quebecers vote for a Francophone if at all possible, and they have one available in the form of the BQ leader. Most of them will always vote for the BQ now that it exists, where they used to go almost entirely for the Liberals. This makes it much more difficult to get a majority now that Ontario is back in play, rather than going 100% Liberal.
