Now that the right wing has united, should the left do the same and the NDP, the Bloc, and the Greens unite on the left? If you added up their support in the latest Ipsos-Reid poll, 18%, 10%, and 5% respectively, the left would have 33%, 2% less than the Liberals, and a good chance of forming the next government. Sounds like a plan to me. :D

Good plan. But the left in most countries (where they are in a minority) tend to remain fragmented. I don't know why! :(

In the attitude of silence the soul finds the path in an clearer light, and what is elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clearness. Our life is a long and arduous quest after Truth.

Well lets see.....

The Greens say that the NDP didn't do anything to protect the environment when they are in power in various provincial governments. In fact they call the NDP their enemy and are part of the same problem as the other parties.

The Bloc are commited to leaving Canada. This is their only policy. I don't think it would mix to well wtih whatever the NDP's policies are.

Now with five fingered Sven, homoklepto of the radical left leaving the party and Jack "Donut" Layton moving them more to the center and offering to jump in bed as Martin's lackey in a minority governmet....

Why don't the NDP just merge with the Liberals?

You don't know why? Really?

That's like believing Nader made Gore lose. You can't add votes like that. Many (most) Green voters would simply not vote if they didn't have the choice.

I think it may come about.

Now about the Bloc. If Liberals can bring in Lapierre, the Conservatives Bouchard, then it should be a slam dunk for NDP & the Bloc.

Are the Greens right or left? It is a good question.

Bouchard joining the CPC?

Where did that come about?

Dumont is a good possibility, but Bouchard was quite red as Tories go when he was one.

I was referring to a bit of history when Bouchard was a Tory (Conservative) in Mulroney's cabinet. B)

The Bloc's core of MP's are not compatible with the NDP.

Their leader is a former Marxist, and many of their MP's are former PCers that left the party when Meech Lake failed.

The Bloc is as xenophobic and racist as the Reform/Alliance/whatever party. One hates English Canada, the other hates French Canada. The sooner that voters put them in their place the better.

They both can thank the charter of rights and freedoms for the ability to yak their wrong headed platforms, but then a free country like Canada allows you to believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Great Pumpkin too if you wish.
