If you want a little blonde, blue-eyed baby, who'll grup to be tall and attracitve, then why not? Whose business is it but the parents? Fertility Institutes says it will soon offer a service to help couples select both their baby's gender and physical traits, such as eye or hair colour, using pre-implantation genetic diagnosis, or PGD. Oleg Bach Posted March 3, 2009 Report Share Posted March 3, 2009 If you do not have the intelligence and spirit to design your own child though careful choosing of a mate then you have no right to cheat nature --- It sort of reminds me of gay and lesbian couples who do not have the inclination or will to breed - who with a well connected lawyer and lots of disposable income can order up a nice blonde blue eyed trophy child from the state...one perhaps that is ward of the state...It also reminds me of the ugly guy that drops a drug into a fine looking womans drink so he can have sex with the unconscious body...if you ugly - so be it... Should be interesting when genetically altered children grow up and look at their parents and say..."I am souless and cold and I want my inheritance now - please step into the chamber.....or as a victim of divorce will scream at the interloper pertending to have authority in the house "You are not my dad"...Clones ---- will be produced and they will have the mentallity of a human with genetically contained autism...great....reminds me of chemically induced sociopathy - where Prosaced brains lack compassion, regret and remorse ----"He I feel happy on this medication and it does not bother me a bit that I abandoned my husband and children...what a brave new world we have entered. The plastic leaks a type of estorgen (girly juice) - and now with the gayification of the population though early childhood education -- I am coming to the conclution that I want to finally establish myself finacially - and as a few of my associates have done -----will if possible have another family - it is my duty to breed - all of my children are talented politically and musically ---- so why stop now --- might piss off the social engineers but a king has to do what he has to do --- but I need a treasury first....as for you - go for it - and if you die the children will thrive no matter what the liberal vacarious minds state ---funny about the liberal mind - they want to be you and be in your pants... You will not need viagra - just an interest again - and there are wonderful woman out there that will bring you to life - and some - that will shrink you... Viagra is not needed if your mind in in tack and you have the spirit - besides -= woman are the only thing in this world that represent real wealth and happiness....if you love them they will come.. If God was nature - and we believe that we can out do what took billions of years to create and evolve - that we are little tiny gods who can make our selves more beautiful though genetic manipulation...The way I look at it is - the uncreated materials that are floating about in the ether are God's raw material and we are not to steal them. If righteousness is a natural flow of matter and energy to the right - to keep things going in good continuation - then sinisterism or sin (meaning left) is going against the flow and we will have a cosmic trafic jam - consisting of a future of beautiful people to look at who may be defective and have the darkests of hearts - I'm not taking the chance ----but some love to steal and hate to earn - You want a beautiful child or and emacualate conception ( perfect conception of Mary the mother of Christ) then find a perfect and beautiful mate and marry for love - the child is guarenteed to be beautiful - look at Jesus ---- and smart. Whose business is it but the parents?Uh, I wonder whether you even understand your own argument, Argus.When two people decide to get together and have a child, implicitly they are designing the kid. This has been happening for millions of years and if we extend the idea to other species, it has been happening for hundreds of millions of years. We may think we're choosing a spouse but in fact, we're choosing our children. IOW, life on earth for millions of years has been based on "Designer Babies". In the selection of a spouse, one is implicitly selecting the features of any children. For anyone interested, we had another thread on this topic. The most recent comment in it referred to genetic screening in order to produce a deaf child, and a government backing down from defining deafness as a serious flaw, the selection of which would be unlawful. It's an interesting case of reverse-eugenics, since only the most militant 'deaf culture' zealots would define the absence of a sense as anything other than a serious flaw.... I also imagine a looming loss of genetic diversity... rather like that which we see in domestic plants and animals. While it is generally desireable to be large and blond, we may find a species need for short/dark genes at some time in the future, and find them in short supply! (Time for another sci-fi wonderment.) I'm disinclined to want to interfere in parents decisions, though, even seeing the very obvious problems, and foolishness of some folks' choices- largely because I have faith in Mom Nature and time to overcome nearly anything. Gender imbalance would soon correct itself; subsequent deaf generations would tire of the zealotry and darned well fix it; and a mass die-off of humans would probably protect our longer-term survival.
