BornAlbertan Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 HAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA What a tool.... QC would weather the economic storm better without Ottawa, says Marois http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianp...fiOKMUVEMVjBCsg More true woould be: Canada would weather the economic storm better without Quebec. Typical Quebec separatist mentality...I wonder where they would expect to get an additional 14+ billion if there were no transfer payments? And responde quickly to the pressing needs of their industries?!?! They can't even support the socialist lifestyles they have established without holding their hands out to the rest of the country for more money....how the hell would they be able to responde to their "industries" and still be so socialist? madmax Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Why do you care??? If they say they can do better without us, they can have that opinion. Wouldn't that make you happier as they would no longer be receiving transfer payments??? Why would I expect you to express support for a separtist? I don't. Quote

I think the Quebec elites have been parotting this nonsense so long, squirming and twisting and frantically trying to make the facts fit their own absurd propaganda, that a lot of them more than half believe it by now. It's one of the reasons I'd love to see Quebec seperate, just to see all those "proud Quebecois" faced with 200% tax increase in the first year, along with 20% unemployment. Oleg Bach Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 Capitalist and socialists seem terminally non-responsive to industry these days. The socialist have cushy life styles - and so do the Capitalist..I guess they are both sprawled on their beds eating pop corn and have no need to get up and manage...all is well.. Now it's even better - with more unemployed the welfare case does not have explain themselves or justify their lack of gainful employment - the system is soon to be swamped. The Capitalist can just wait for the mail to arrive and see if their real BIG welly cheque has arrived - all is well...all are poor. It's just a case of degree - one is down to his last two bucks and the other is down to his last 2 billion bucks --- what a world! Quote

Progressive Tory Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 But that is a good thing...too many kittens in North America. I hear they make a nice stew. As to the Quebec issue, maybe they would fare better on their own. Who knows? We'd definitely miss the tax revenue. They certainly set the standard for provincial autonomy. I applaud them. fellowtraveller Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 They certainly set the standard for provincial autonomy. I applaud them. Yep, they have set the gold standard. It is every man(every province) for himself from here on. Who cares about anything other than yourself? Still clapping? Quote The government should do something.

Who cares about anything other than yourself? Still clapping? I'm a federalist. I want Canada to stay united. However, Harper applauded Quebec as a model when he was planning his 'firewall around Alberta'. Quebec didn't need him to say that they were a nation within a Nation. They know exactly what they are. Their gov't is called the 'National Assembly'. They have the best of both worlds and as such set the standard. No reason to clap, just admire and often shake my head. It's Harper who likes the Belgian model, not me. It isn't even working in Belgium. Realist Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 A few unintellectual elite may drink his kool aid, but thankfully, polls show a majority of Quebecois have more sense than him. Quote

We'd definitely miss the tax revenue. They certainly set the standard for provincial autonomy. I applaud them. I highly doubt it, they have extremely high tax rates and harsh language laws, no rational business would dare set up shop there. Then there is their attitude concerning exports, they do not like trade whatsoever, their agriculture policy is a shining example of that. WIth their trade attitude and high levels of gov't interference wealth generation would be next to impossible. That country would become a mess very quickly.
