August1991 Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 If Harper wins an election, and becomes PM, he'll have to have at least 60 or so MPs from Ontario. What will his Cabinet look like? He'll have to name social liberals to key positions. I think Stronach would love a government Challenger, and government customs clearance - better than Bill Gates! Does she speak German? External is obvious for her. Clement? He'd be good at Finance. Should Harper announce this in advance? (Trudeau gave all the main posts to non-Quebec MPs in his first cabinet. Benson, Sharp. Turner from Mtl was at Justice.) Quote
Galahad Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 If Harper wins an election, and becomes PM, he'll have to have at least 60 or so MPs from Ontario. Should Harper announce this in advance? Yes. If my pig were going to fly I would announce it in advance. Quote
August1991 Posted March 19, 2004 Author Report Posted March 19, 2004 Pig? Fly? This is serious. What would a Harper Cabinet look like? In a few weeks (months?) Canadians will be asking themselves this question. Newspapers will talk about it. The CBC will have special reports. I'm asking the question now. You guys are the experts. Whaddya think? Quote
August1991 Posted March 19, 2004 Author Report Posted March 19, 2004 Here's a question: Should Harper put Mulroney-appointed Quebec Senators in his Cabinet? Does this question seem weird? It shouldn't. It will be a question soon enough. That's Canada. Better? How will Harper deal with such questions! Quote
Goldie Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 So they have critic experience for the most Part and untill they elect Ontarians you can't guess but you would need more in a real cabinet. August1991 Posted March 20, 2004 Author Report Posted March 20, 2004 WOW! Too western, I think. He's the PM - that counts for a lot. And I think he'll pull a Clark and have Quebec Tory Senators. (Mulroney gave him the choice. Clark had none to choose from!) But you're right. The Ontario Tory caucus is an unknown. So, Harper's cabinet is an unknown. My opinion? Harper's first cabinet will be much more sympathetic of the East than Trudeau's first cabinet was of the West. Quote
August1991 Posted March 20, 2004 Author Report Posted March 20, 2004 Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency ? !!! - A Liberal, Mulronified, Liberalized Mess. If this is Canada, Newfoundlanders deserve so much better. I've been to Beaumont-Hamel. ACOA is not the Newfoundland I know. Quote
August1991 Posted March 20, 2004 Author Report Posted March 20, 2004 Finance Jason Kenny Justice Vic Toews WTF? Please explain. Quote

Contrary to galahad's gutteral response, I will simply say that IMHO he should not announce such things in advance. That would give the Dawn of the Dead crowd way too much time to think up the usual slurs they apply to anyone who disagrees with them. Quote
August1991 Posted March 20, 2004 Author Report Posted March 20, 2004 IMHO he should not announce such things in advance. We live in an Internet world of high school graduate voters. (Fifty or a hundred years ago, people were illiterate. Now, they know better.) I say, give people the info upfront, ASAP. But play the game too. Imagine Kerry annouced his VP in January? (VP Edwards!) Now, what about Harper's cabinet? Whaddya think? What does Harper think? Should he tell? Quote
