  1. .....HEY HEY HEY HEY, COME BACK HERE YOU LITTLE ASSHOLE!!!! Sorry posters, I was putting out the above article for you when all of a sudden this guy snatches my newspaper out of my hand and runs away with it. I think it was Greg. Shoot...............do any of you know the ending? Could you put it out here, I hear it was a great piece.
  2. I sure as hell don't worry about the NDP in B.C., under ANY circumstances. What I DO worry about is that if Paul Martin decides to hold off calling the election ..... by the fall the B.C. knuckleheads will realize that the war in Iraq was a "good thing" and will shower Harper with votes. That is my worry right across the land.
  3. On page 8 of this Sunday's NYT I found this jewel. The president of the International Peace Academy, David Malone, discusses the peacekeeping forces: He says: I remember how PROUD Jean Chretien was whenever he bragged about our "peacekeepers" and how that is only how he wanted to use our soldiers ... as peacekeepers. Now I don't feel so good. How about you? Are we the West's "cannon fodder"?
  4. I guess it must be my Slavic melancholy. I'd love to see him win one for his father.
  5. So what do you think about my original idea of yesterday where I muse that PM PM would possibly like to call it so it falls as close as possible to Father's Day so that he can dedicate this win to his dad. Does he have enough nostalgia in him to consider this?
  6. You know, there is a HUGE difference between "splitting up" with someone and "firewalling" oneself from someone. Splitting up is kind of romantic, visionary. Putting up firewalls is brutish and uncivilized. What a hick that Harper is. Like playfullfellow says ... " People are going to keep picking on Harper because he is fighting for the land of rednecks, hillbillies and illiterate farm boys "
  7. I don't GIVE a damn if the guy I elect is a "team player". That's for clerks in a bank or Wal Mart employees. And mediocre hockey players, of course. I want my guy to show vision & thought. Lucien did both. He will be remembered long after the hundreds of "team players" are retired on their wee pensions with their gold plated watchs.
  8. 11/ Bush - hires women for their brain power. Clinton - hires women for their blow power. By the way, I just finnished Karen Hughes' book "Ten Minutes From Normal". She's a tigress!
  9. Well in my native country, the Czech Repulic, and many other former communist countries, many of the old guard are now shining anew, as capitalists. For a good politician changing political sides is no different than it is for a good hockey player changing teams and sporting new colors, IMO. And as a good hockey player is immediately liked and appreciated by his new fans, so too should a good politician be. One of the best, Winston Churchill, was like a yo-yo, yet we all admire him.
  10. I agree. But John Kerry now says he wants to reverse that trend. He is accusing W's Republicans of steady losses of US jobs to low-wage countries. If that were true, I'd have to go along with Kerry on that one, I suppose. I had a riproaring fight with Jim (James McNulty) about that this morning. However, after he settled me down and persuaded me that in a country with over 140,000,000 workers only a measily 300,000 jobs ( that's only 1 in 500.. which is only 0.002%) were lost to low-wage countries since George W. Bush was elected to office.... I must say that Kerry is exaggerating, BIG TIME!!
  11. It sure would be awkward to call it so that it falls on Father's Day (Sunday, June 20), a day PM PM would dearly love to win and dedicate it to his dad. So the next best date is the next day, Monday June 21. And he'll still clink his glass with Sheila and say "Happy belated Fathers Day dad, this one's for you!" August1991 has a good bet going.
  12. So you're going with a 7 June election date? Just tell him to save his bucks!
  13. Missed your MacDonald article but I don't care because Don Martin told me personally, along with all of his readers in the NP newspaper today, that ... and I quote: And you know what they say ... "When Don Martin speaks, people listen" ... so be smart and put some bucks on that date, it will be the easiest money you have ever made. It will be for me, THAT'S for sure! After reading Norman Spector's article in the Vancouver Sun today, I'm really really sorry that I missed your MacDonald article. If it was as eye opening as my guy's was, I'd definitely save myself a bundle. Que sera sera.
  14. You don't even know what the term means, do you? If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck.....
  15. Oh Moore just lies like a rug to sell his movies & books...that's better? I'll take the black humor thanks... besides Ann Coulter DID apologize, saying that she should have mentioned that she would evacuate the building with the exception of the reporters & editors. I'm not sure which Thomas Freidman YOU are reading...but my reading of his columns shows him to be a very "look at both sides of the picture, I'm a balaced & fair guy" sort of columnist. He writes as many columns against what is going on in Iraq as ones for. And to counter this rabid "middle of the road" columnist they put the almostly insanely left Maureen Dowd on the same page. Ah, we get Bin Laden & our worries are over. The other few million excitable Islamists will just shut up & go away? We shouldn't walk & chew gum at the same time, you say? That is ADD to you? Japan had no history or cultural basis for democracy either. Ditto Turkey. And I still don't get your point. No one likes a foreign occupier...but do you actually think a brutal dictator is better than the wussy little Yanks who won't bomb on Muslim holy days? Hell...the Shias who are killing American troops now have never had it so good. If they'd tried anything like that with Saddam he would have whipped out his chemicals again. Everybody thought the intel was good. Yup...even Kerry. Even Bill & Hilary. And actually, it ain't over till the fat lady sings. History hasn't been written on those WMD's yet. What "true intentions" do you think Bush has? A Muslim theme park? Maybe he'll build a few palaces there with his face on them? Get real. You ARE aware that the USA could wipe Iraq off the face of the earth right? But they won't go into their holy city, won't fight during holy days & just try to target the terrorists...not innocent bystanders. So the problem isn't too much violence on our part...but it could be too little. ( See John O'Sullivan's column in the NP today. The editor of the Washington Post agrees with this. Sorry I can't put it up here Greg would lose his mind convinced that Johhny Cochrane will be on this Website like a flash). As for conventional wisdom...Hiroshima. Violent. Stopped them in their tracks. End of violence. 911. No preceding violence. Murders of innocents. That's because Israel is civilised. This is the problem...if they WERE as violent as the Palestinians & blasted a few camps after a bus was blown up...I'll bet the nutbars would quiet down very quickly. She did appologize for that one ALSO. She said: ..."Some may not like what I said but I'm still waiting to hear a better suggestion." WHAT DO YOU WANT, BLACK DOG? BLOOD? Do YOU have a better suggestion? The world trade center was bombed the first time on Clinton's watch. He didn't do a damn thing ( that should have stopped them right? No violence begetting violence??)So they came back & put the towers down. There have been zero attacks in the USA since 911...this is the country Bush is President of. He has done a perfect job.
  16. Ann Coulter has a rather blunt way of putting things...but her bottom line analysis is always bang on. And I like her humor....but I like Basil Fawlty too...must be the inner child in me. If things go BD's way I can well imagine the epitaph on his tombstone. It'll read something like: "In Canada they first put hijabs on all the women, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a woman. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the rest of the infidels, and I didn't speak because by this time I had grown a full beard to blend in. Then they came for August1991, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't August1991. Then they came for me — and by that time no one was left to speak up."
  17. Judging by his spelling, Moderate Centrist is the most Canadian amoung us.
  18. Now here's where I question your sense of humor again. Admit it...it's funny. Or do you not think the NYT has just a "teensy weensy" bias ? Before the Taliban was the official government of Afghanistan. It is no longer. That's a win. It's going to take more than a few years to calm down every damned agitated Taliban boy over there. They're still in Kosovo a decade later. And you're saying Saddam's idea of just gassing the Shia was the better option? Interesting point of view. Nope...no WMD...and who GIVES a damn? Iraq is one of the few countries in that area that actually has a bigger than minute educated population...it has a hope for a normal society. And if it succeeds (in a generation) it'll change the map over there. This is a GOOD thing. To quote George Jonas..."One doesn't shoot one's enemy to arouse his affection, but to kill them.". If we don't do anything, they will attack. If we do do something, they will attack. At least now some are dead. And the more of them that are dead, the less of them will attack us. You know, there IS a way to stop terrorism. All one has to do is inflict 5, then 10, then 20, then 30, then 40 etc. etc. times the pain they cause you. Personally, I think that by the time one was ready to pounce the terrorists 50 times worse than they pounced you, institutional terrorism would not exist. This may be a little outdated of an idea but it sure as hell worked throughout history. For both, the good rulers and the bad. So how about those hilarious Clinton years Ann Coulter writes about, ending just about every paragraph with ..."Clinton, advised by Dick Clarke, did nothing"? I can't WAIT to see how you'll try to squirm out of that one.
  19. Then it's abundantly clear that you're just shooting blanks. Ta ta! I have no idea why you have such an unhealthy hatred for Ann Coulter. Not even the great left winger James Carville would go as overboard in disliking her as you have (and not only because he wouldn't get any whoopie from his great right winger wife, Mary Matalin, if he had either). I'm sure I could find a zillion sites where intelligent individuals heap great adoration on her, but why bother. Why not look at one of her articles instead and analyze it. Sooo, tell me, Black Dog, what is wrong with this one that Rupert put out? http://forums.advancode.com/index.php?showtopic=419 BTW - Sorry for this awkward way of posting the article but Greg would probably skin me alive if I once again disobeyed his orders. Something about copyright infrigement, he says.
  21. I don't know, Dog. If the co-editors of Spincity was the best the left can do...I rest my case. Don't NEED to pull out any big guns.
  22. I dare you to put Ann's said article out here! Let others decide how "scummy and witless" she is. Afraid that the other posters would side & laugh with her and shake their heads in your direction? I KNOW they would!
  23. How delightfully quaint of Canadian politicans, using their own private little calander that has different seasons than the rest of the civilized world. When do these imps celebrate Christmas? December 10?
  24. So why did you pick a summer date, dodo? .... ROTFPIMPALMFARO!
