Unfortunately I was only able to determine how stupid it was after reading it. It's not like there's a rating system for threads where we can avoid threads with a negative rating. That being said, I gave my review. -1 Assinine Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us
Kitch Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 True, but now that the U.S. has a good President it might be a good thing....look around you Canada is crumbling around us ,our medical system is failing...our social net is failing...Quebec wants to separate and Alberta is making rumblings about it....it might make a strong North America. Are not government run 'systems' not always on the verge of crumbling due to lack of funding? Doesn't this make sense anyway? It's a very fine balance for the government to run something like the health care system. It's easy to over or under spend, and each has its own problems. The idea is to spend just the right amount, which means that it is always on the verge of collapsing... but I'd like to think it never will. (That is unless an ultra-right wing... or pro-free market government creates such circumstances to justify privatizing everything). The agenda of different governments that run on different paradigms can also be seen in which programs they overspend on and which they underspend on. Quote

Shakeyhands Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 talk about late coming to the table...maybe you missed it its called the north american union, run by a triumvirate. You mean pentaverate don't you? Well it's a well know fact, sonny Jim, that there's a group of the five wealthiest people in the world known as the pentaverate, who run everything in the world, including the newspapers. And meet tri-annually at a secret country mansion known as, The Meadows. So who's in this pentaverate? The Queen, The Vatican, The Gettys, The Rothchilds and Colonel Sanders before he went tits up. Ohhh, I hated the Colonel...with his wee beady eyes, and that smug look on his face! "Oh your gonna buy my chicken!" Oohh! Dad, how can you hate, the Colonel? Because he puts an addictive chemical in his chicken that makes you crave for it nightly, smartass! courtesy of "So I Married an Axe Murder" Quote "They muddy the water, to make it seem deep." - Friedrich Nietzsche
Oleg Bach Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Canada being united with America would be like the virgin boy marrying the old wicked widow who had not taken a bath in ten years. No thanks _ I will pass on that idea. Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 (edited) Canada being united with America would be like the virgin boy marrying the old wicked widow who had not taken a bath in ten years. No thanks _ I will pass on that idea. Nobody wants a virgin anyway......except for jihadists. Edited November 30, 2008 by bush_cheney2004 Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Oleg Bach Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Bushy where do come up with this stuff? There was a cartoon I found to be funny...as the Islamic entered into heaven he was escorted to a very old hag...the guy looked at Mohamid with dreadful surprise...Mohamid said...no no no not 72 virgins - I meant a 72 year old virgin. If we were to join - Mexico would have to be excluded - you know that. It would take at least two generations to clear up the mess - but with you - we would have you civlized in about 2 days. Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Bushy where do come up with this stuff? Pamela Anderson was no virgin...so she became an American instead. If you mean that Canada is overflowing with naive rubes....OK. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Oleg Bach Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Don't start with the Rubes mr sophisticated one. Why are you proud of the fact that you eccept the social empurity that is corruption? You sure you are not some east LA gangbanger that's a gangsta and real BAD. Quote

Oleg Bach Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 You are a BULLY....My reward please! Rube of the year....you know, the gold plated revolutionary pitchfork. Rubes chooped off a lot of heads in old France...a lot of very very sophisticated heads. Quote
Vancouverite Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 If Canada was to join the US, there will have to be a referendum in Canada, or at least the regions whose local governments want to join. But I wonder if the US would need a referendum on whether it wants Canada. Quote

Slim MacSquinty Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 The American constitution already has a provision that if Canada wants in Canada gets in. In terms of our great claim to national pride, the reason Canada, or more correctly the British, defeated the US in 1812, was the US incorrectly gaged Canadian discontent. They figured nary a shot would be fired and they would be treated as liberator, apparantly not the last time the screwed up intelligence. As for Canada joining US, US already owns a lot of Canada, so I'm not sure what the economic impact would be. Ontario for example would be a pretty powerful state, it would be geographically largest, carry sigificant economic clout, Toronto would be a top ten city. Imagine the opportunities available to Canadian business and workers. On the other hand, we would move up the ranks of the most hated nation significantly. It would appear that the US is moving more towards Canada than the other way around, it looks like the US will have more socialized everything very soon including nationalized healthcare, and given Obama's robin hood promises to tax the rich and give to the poor it looks like they're on their way to European welfare state territory. Taxes are going up south of the border! So my answer is; jury is still out. Quote

There is a process for obtaining status as a US territory and statehood, including votes in both houses of Congress and the new "state". Why is it that when the political shit hits the fan in Canada we see a peak in this kind of US statehood question? As I've posted before, the USA cannot save you from yourselves.
