His comments weren't even hate speech.

So the only acceptable position is one where you are forced to agree and to disagree breaks the law and lands one in jail?

Sounds like the dictatorship of Cuba, Iran or the old USSR to me.

Put it this way - remember the jerk who punched out a couple of defenceless lesbian mothers...they want the assualt upgraded to a hate crime - well ....If the lesbians hate men and the violent SOB hates woman that hate men - All parties should be charged with a "hate crime"

Please let that be a joke.

A bit funny... Language is very important that it is used accurately and re-visionism of language bugs the hell out of me. All CRIME IS HATE CRIME. When a person commits an offence against another person it is not done in the spirit of love - it is always done in the spirit of HATE - corporate fraud for instance should be classed as a hate crime - It the person committing this crime holds the average human being in loathing and contempt - then Conrad Black should have been charged with a hate crime.

If I punch you in the head because you're an idiot, it's because you are an idiot. If I punch you in the head because you're gay, it's an indisciminate crime because I hate gays and you happen to be gay. That's the difference.

I don't know what this guy is thinking having his children in a school with gay parents anyhow if he felt that way. If he did actually beat her cause they were gay. Or is this just another whoa is me ploy by gay and lesbian activists. I wouldn't have my kids in public school but if I did I'd pull them immediately upon learning this. Parents are man and woman, that's it.

If my kids ask me if it's ok I'll say "hell no it isn't ok, the Bible tells us that it's immoral". I'll also say that they have the right to live and be happy but they don't like us and look at people who follows Gods teachings as evil and bad. That's why they congregate in the cities and stay away from us out here in the rural areas. The city is full of immorality and they feel most comfortable in that setting. Close to the walk in clinics and HIV drug centres as gays have the highest infected rate of HIV out of any identifiable group. Less than 1% of the population has the highest HIV rate due to immorality of a large part of the gay community.

That's how I see it. If there is another reason why they live in the cities lmk guys.

At this point in time gays are still outsiders - The term idiot - originally meant "unelected and not part of the group with no right to speak" The Greek word idiot did not mean stupid. So if you punch an idiot your violence is based in exlusionism - If you punch a gay it is the same. Gays are not the norm - they are tiny part of the population and they are excluded by most of the population..that's a fact - It is up to me the free citizen to decide who I include or exclude. It is up to me as a free person to discriminate between what I believe is good for me and my group and what is not. Gay associates and friends that I have are by choice - there are gays I exclude because I do not approve of their character - it's the same as straights - I have the right to close my door or open it to who ever I wish - Marriage is my domain because I am straight. It is an instutution that is based on hetrosexuality not homosexuality.

Doesn't the difference disappear if we put your statement this way?:

I told my son who was so pissed off at stupid people that he wanted to "punch them in the head" - I said if you start doing that - buy the time you are done your arm will have fallen off.

Maybe just maybe they dont come "out" in rural areas is because of the redneck bigots and morons who think this way.

Many follow the Bible out here and go to church regularly. If you read it you'd know that the Bible looks at homosexuality as a sin and immoral. I'm not sure if all are rednecks or not. I suspect not as I see many people here who have many material things. Many people who don't follow the Bible and attend church are against homosexuality as well.

Redneck is a person who prefers to live a simple life, in case you were unaware.

You shall "not lay down with a man as if he were a woman" _ that might also mean that you are not to have contact with woman that are actually men. Roles are important - If I could do it again I would not have layed with my wife who is more of a man than I> :P Keeping things simple leads to happiness...a man should have a femine partner - it's better and sexier and she is not about to be you.. :o If the play is played out according to the role and script - all will be happy and prosper and there will be no divorce. I like red necks - If I could go back in time I would have stayed one.

Umm....I guess no one cares about Ahenakew. Just as well. His comments were not criminal. A little brash and uncouth perhaps but not a hate crime.

To my knowledge this "idea" was Old Testament doctrine. It does not affect or obligate Christians whose doctrine comes out of the New Testament.

I truely have no use for Old Testamonial stuff - just plain nasty...a bunch of people bragging about how corrupt they are - what was that bit about King David stealing his sons seal (Solomons' seal) and calling it the Star of David...never could figure out the time line on that - or the part where King David has the married womans husband killed so he can have sex with her..not a man I would want as king. New Testament is wonderful and hopeful once you toss out the letters written by that political opportunist Paul and pay attention to the words of Christ if you can find them. Jesus did not beat on gays - nor did he blow them.

It's been my experience that no matter how devoutly some claim to follow religious tenets, or even just show themselves to be wholesome, average, men and women, they will, in private, and for a whole host of reasons, deviate vastly from this image. Nowhere was this made more evident that during the four months I lived and worked in a small town; drinking, fighting, backstabbing, and gossip were just the tip of an iceberg that hid further beneath the surface abuse, drugs, infidelity, and a lot of casual sex - with either gender, or both at the same time; all of this done by people who would here be immediately labeled as rednecks. This taught me that the redneck attitude (and all its cousins) is just a front for most of those who possess it; away from judging eyes many of these so called tough guy and pious woman types will do the very same things as those immoral big city deviants.

Scripture has to be intelligently translated by the student. You need a big fat Harpers Biblical Dictionary...where you look up the most common of terms to understand them - then you have to be able to spot contraditions that are usually the results of sloppy revisionism..then you have to sort out the lies...and things that simply do not make sense - and you have to realize that it is a man written and man edited group of documents and not the full word of God...how could it be...There is great ancient knowledge in ancient writings that can be very empowering and liberating - but you can not with your God given mind - take it literally of funamentally...I studied for about 4 years and used - everything from Stephen Hawkings Brief History Of Time and cross referenced with a dictionary printed in the mid 1800s --- I deciphered quite a bit - in the end I tucked the books into the drawer and concluded that the rest of the truth would be found in my own being...it was a good start. Logic is Christianity....if it makes no sense -and your God given brain rejects it - dump it...and don't believe in the bit that you should not be dependant on your own intellect - Intelligence is God granted not book granted.

Well put. I have lived small town before and they have nothing over the big city people.

Ah, no that is not correct.

Was Sam Walton a redneck? Lots of people lead simple lives and are not rednecks.

The Walton character was poor but had class...If a black or a Jew or all those nasty gays showed up on his door step hungry ------------He would feed them all - I guess that's what is called a Christian. And if Walton was seriously attacked - he would defend himself - but he did not go out of his way to be part of quiet or noisey violence...or hate. The Sam Walton analogy is very smart...like a Gary Cooper thing...these characters had one important personal capacity - to love. That is power - hate is fear.
