Smallc Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 Wouldn't need them if farmer's taxes weren't paying doctor's salaries. Then they would need them because they're medical insurance premiums would be paying doctors salaries. Quote
jdobbin Posted December 15, 2008 Author Report Posted December 15, 2008 Wouldn't need them if farmer's taxes weren't paying doctor's salaries. What utter BS. Total bogus statement. So if farmers had private healthcare, they would have no need of subsidies? What drivel. So why do the American belly up to the bar? Because of Medicare in the U.S.? So your answer is to end ag subsidies, you have to end public healthcare? What a load of absolute and complete trash. Quote

The lower taxes would more than cover it. You would be surprised at how much the 2% GST helps out business owners. No I wouldn't. You have probably even been to my parents business if you've ever gone north and taken highway 328 to get to highway 6. I don't know if its made a huge difference, but I'm sure its made somewhat of one. Edited December 15, 2008 by Smallc Quote

No BS, eye for an eye. My job is just as important as a doctor's. Why should I get soaked at tax time to pay a ridiculously large salary? The ag subsidies are useless. I don't even qualify for bailouts. I'd have no problem ending of the Liberal firehose method of funding that helps no one and screws the taxpayer. Why do doctors need to make six figures off the taxpayers back? Smallc Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 Why do doctors need to make six figures off the taxpayers back? Because that's what they're paid elsewhere (and even more than that). Do you think we could keep doctors if we didn't pay them well enough? Quote

blueblood Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 I have a hard time believing this line of reasoning. Ag subsidies that the Tories defend to the core hurt farmers, not help them. I've made it perfectly clear that I want the firehose spending to cease immediately. Spending should only occur if it results in price increases, not having piles of grain on the ground, just like the stimulus you want so badly to occur, why should some industries get a stimulus and some not when times are bad? The ag subsidies that you are refering to are the ones that benefit Quebec producers. A large number of producers would prefer a tax cut. The 2% of the GST resulted in savings that amounted to more than "subsidies". Another point is that in business, it is far better off to lend/bankroll business's when it's fundamentals are sound, growth looks good, and will make everyone money. I don't think an auto bail out will do that, the BSE bailout was an abysmal failure. However gov't subsidies to the oil and gas industry and ethanol production have been extremely beneficial for our country as we can produce more exports and of higher value. As for doctors, I am sick of Universities and the CHA's sick little game of screwing the public over by capping the amt. of doctors and am equally sick of gov'ts by not imposing a harsh tax on those who decide to leave for the US.
