GostHacked
WIP Palin has socialistic views and ideals. Why else would she steal from the rich oil companies and give to the rest of the poor citizens of Alaska. I guess one man's 'maverick' is another mans socialist. Sir Bandelot
And there you have it! Some baldheaded moron who thinks that he's going to cash in too and become a millionaire will keep right on voting for the party that continually tweaks the rules of the game to enrich themselves and keep the Joe-the-plumbers from actually joining the rich man's club! Now the question is how many fools are out there like Joe, who will watch the super-rich fleece the system and leave an economy in ashes with poverty as the real future for Joe the Plumber! A fine example of the illusion of Demockracy.

In a sense, the goodies handed out to everyone from the Alaska Permanent Fund are a vote-buying handout. Didn't Peter Lougheed do something like this with the Alberta Heritage Fund back in the 80's? stevoh
I certainly wouldn't want a tax evading non-licenced "plumber" who lies about his financial means standing tall as the type of person my party supports.
Moonlight Graham
Actually, socialism is what precipitated this mess. The government pressured lending institutions to give mortgages to people who would not normally qualify. The answer is not more regulation, but less. The banks were extremely eager to cash in on all the mortgages they gave out. Less regulation would have done nothing, quite the opposite. Laissez-faire capitalism doesn't work. We figured that out after the Industrial Revolution, we figured it out in the 30's, and we're seeing it now again. The best system IMO is free-market capitalism with just enough socialism to protect the little guy & those who can't help themselves (disabled etc.). Laissez-faire has proven not to work, so has an all-socialist system. Clearly a mix of both systems has made for the most success for nation-states since the Industrial Revolution (see: current Europe, North America). jdobbin
The answer is not more regulation, but less. You must be disappointed in Bush then.
