bush_cheney2004 Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 ...Sadly, Obama, being black, doesn't look 'American' enough for his fellow Americans. McCain and the Bush administration are likely to get another term in office just because the average American's capacity for ignorance and primitive thought is rivalled only by that of the zealots looking to destroy them. While in Canada there is absolutely no chance of anything but the same old "white" guys and their boring zealots, if such a thing is possible. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

bush_cheney2004 Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 The reason the US election is far more 'exciting' is because it's a competition between two people to see who runs the most powerful country in the world. It's pretty simple.... Nah...even if Canada were the most powerful country in the world it would figure out how to make that boring too. Even Canadian disasters are boring compared to those in other nations. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

bush_cheney2004 Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 I didn't know it was a contest. But it is....that's how advertising revenue is generated. Hurricanes and earthquakes are worth millions! Ice storms not so much. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Oh, you like seeing Americans getting killed in natural disasters, eh? I always suspected you were a plant. Now we know. I'll bet Obama enjoys seeing a hurricane slam into the U.S. Gulf Coast too. If I were to wager a guess, I'd say you live in Tehran. You're probably one of Ahmadinijad's lackies. Quote

Guest American Woman Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 Watching the American elections makes me sick. Then I would strongly suggest you don't watch it. Quote
guyser Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 I'll bet the major networks made a tons of money on 9/11. You'd lose that bet. Ads were pulled left and right. Movies were re-shot to remove WTC....I think you get the idea. Quote

Lurios Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 Is the election in the USA more interestign because it's actually a contest of ideas? All the American election is anyway is half the population voting for the rich white guy, as he is a republican and they are afraid of change. Then a couple of smart people voting for change and reason. Quote
Aleksandar Maksimovic Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 This is why, as written in the canadian charter of rights and freedom. Democratic rights of citizens3. Every citizen of Canada has the right to vote in an election of members of the House of Commons or of a legislative assembly and to be qualified for membership therein. Did you see what is wrong? Every citizen of Canada has the right to vote. Replace this, by Duty. This is wrong, voting is a duty. Not a simple right. Quote

Every citizen of Canada has the right to vote. Replace this, by Duty. This is wrong, voting is a duty. Not a simple right. Nah. It is a right - an option for the individual to exercise - or not. You cannot force someone to do something against their will. Besides. Not voting is an exercise of one's democratic rights and can sometimes send a more clearer message than voting can.
