Army Guy
Toronto -- It's just as well that federal funding for veterans' visits to classrooms is no longer available (Scrimping On Memory - editorial, June 19). Do we really want the so-called "acclaimed" program of the Dominion Institute to continue exposing school children to the praise and glory of militarism?Should we be exposing our youth to the ancient idea that visiting foreign countries and killing people is a worthwhile occupation? Did this guy just fall out of a BC pine, does he really think that these vets after living thru god knows what horrors, would actually promote militarism, i have'nt meet one vet, that has anything good to say about war, perhaps they are the best advocates for peace in the country..... As for a worth while occupation, wonder what this donut would being doing now if they had'nt stood on the line for Canada.... globe and mail. Sean Hayward
Whoever wrote that article has to win the 'most ignorant journalist of the year award'. Clearly they don't undertand what Canadians have fought for and are fighting for. "Visiting other countries and killing people" is what's needed sometimes to ensure freedom for Canadians and to liberate oppressed people in other countries. What kind of a person says that liberating Europe from Nazi Germany was a bad thing? Edited June 20, 2008 by Sean Hayward
