Topaz Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 I hope everyone is OK I put this here. Another great actor has died, Charlton Heston had passed, age 84 from Alzheimer's. He was born John Charles Carter in Evanston, Illinois and spent 3 years in the US Air Force before becoming an actor. There's not too many of the great actress and actors left and I don't see too many present day actors coming up to their standards. Will surely miss this one but we do have him on film anytime we want to see him. Quote

M.Dancer Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 I would have never considered him a great actor, his range of emotions that he could project went all the way from from constipated to enraged... On the other hand he did have a great square jaw Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us
DogOnPorch Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 lol...true...but some of his flicks are indeed timeless classics (The Hawaiians, 55 Days At Peking, etc) . Others (Soylent Green et al) are less so, but, still very 'campy'. I'll watch Ape movies all Sunday given half the chance to avoid chores. A good man, though. He was about freedom of speech and human rights as much as he was about guns. I believe he even marched with MLK on Washington so many years ago...along with his chums Belafonte, Brando and Poitier. ---------------------------------------------- It's been quite a ride. I loved every minute of it. ---Charlton Heston Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.

AngusThermopyle Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 I don't see too many present day actors coming up to their standards. I think we do still have some great actors left. Sir Anthony Hopkins comes to mind, also DeNiro, Hoffman, Nicholson, Streep, Paccino, and quite a few more. Heston had charisma and that great deep voice, he wasn't in the same league as the others I just mentioned though. Quote I yam what I yam - Popeye
