  1. I think someone's feelings are hurt! Oh no, call the thought police!
  2. Lol. Someone doesn't know the name of Canada's 2nd largest island...
  3. Of course not. Allah, most merciful, has made it so that no one gets hurt in Jannah (paradise). Praise Allah!
  4. I'm confused. Since when did Quebec cease to be part of Canada? Yet there are many stable multi-lingual countries such as Switzerland... Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that immigrants shouldn't learn languages, just that learning English or French isn't the only priority. Also, I would not be opposed if Chinese became Canada's 3rd national language. Idk, I know a number of people that would support people that want to blow up the Northern Gateway Pipeline if it starts construction.
  5. Yes, you are allowed to drink wine, and it will not make you drunk. Despite alcohol being haram on Earth, it is allowed in great quantity in the afterlife.
  6. This is a misunderstanding due to a mistranslation from Arabic to English. There is not promise of 72 virgins in the Quran, only the Hadith. Furthermore, the 72 virgins are female and are only promised to those that make it to the highest location in the afterlife (so usually males that are matyrs for Islam). There are many details but I'll just mention a few: the virgins do not have free will, females that make it into paradise can get male virgin servants, just not 72, the female virgins do not period & have very round breasts, and the male that makes it into paradise is given an eternal erection to satisfy these virgins.
  7. I don't get how this comment refutes anything I wrote. No he didn't. And doing that would be impossible anyway since not all muslims are in Iraq. ...I don't understand the relevance of this comment with respect to what I wrote.
  8. Sigh, based on this comment and others, you appear to be very uninformed on this topic. Firstly, this isn't going to unite Muslims. The ISIS are extremist Sunni Muslims that consider the Shia to be Kaffir and Idolaters. To them, the only Islam is their version of Sunni Islam. Secondly, it wasn't the US that divided Muslims. The muslims have been divided for the past 1400 years after Mohammed's death when there was dispute about who should succeed him and rule the Caliphate (Ali or Abu Bakr). There is a reason why the leader of the ISIS has taken the name Abu Bakr, and it isn't in order to get along with the Shia. Thirdly, you seem to view this in the context of 'Iraqis' or a nation state, when nothing could be further from the truth. The ISIS reject nationalism and dividing people along national or ethnic lines. To them, there is only 1 law, god's law as written in the Quran and Hadiths, and all Muslims should unite under a single caliphate and follow the Sharia. Their goal is world domination and they do not want to stop until what has been prophetized in the Quran becomes true (the entire world will unite under Islam and everyone will say 'la ilaha il allah, muhammadun rasulu-llah').
  9. Yes, which is why it is bizarre that you would list language as something that unites us. Did I misinterpret you? To be honest, I don't care what language immigrants speak as long as they are productive members of society. So you are saying that our lack of riots and disorder is what unites Canadians? Yes, which is why you saying that Canadians are united by their values seems inconsistent. What cultural differences? Both countries are basically the same.
  10. Idk, I think most of use would be better of if we were born in Norway. To be fair, you can learn a lot of history from video games. The total war series are really good.
  11. So is Canada more united than South Korea? Because of our multi-culturalism vs their mono-culturalism? And then you get people that think multiculturalism is neither good nor bad and also think that it isn't good to label objections to multiculturalism as bigoted.
  12. Yes Argus! How dare you have a differing opinion from the majority of the country! Clearly you must be labeled a bigot and be silenced! Decent Canadians are too good for freedom of speech! Someone's feelings might get hurt! *sarcasm*
  13. I don't think this is why immigration has been relatively successful in countries like Canada or Australia compared to Britain, France or Scandinavia. I think it is more to do with having a more diverse immigration make up (we get a higher percentage from East Asia, India, Philippines, etc. and less from Islamic countries) and also because Canada & Australia have a longer history of immigration so are culturally more used to it.
  14. How can multiculturalism be something that unites Canadians if there is a significant portion of the population that disagrees with it? Furthermore, if multiculturalism is good, then does that mean that a country like South Korea is inferior to Canada because it is culturally homogeneous? Multiculturalism is neither good nor bad, and is not something that unites a country.
  15. In Quebec they speak French, in Richmond BC, Chinese (Cantonese) is arguably the most common language. In Nunavut, it is Inuktitut. It's absurd that you would use language as something that unites Canadians. You realize that over 20% of Canadians of foreign born (pretty much the second highest for developed countries after Australia, excluding city-states like Hong Kong)? And this is much higher for the younger population. Over 20% of the country is Francophone. 5% is native. I could go on. There is no common history that unites Canadians. What value set? because I see a lot of disagreement among Canadians about values. Furthermore, with the recent large influx from Islamic countries, there is a growing population in Canada that want to impose Sharia (which is at odds with most of the rest of the population). If intra-country variation is greater than inter-country variation, I think that is a good indication that nationality is not a good indicator of how people think.
  16. Except Canadians do not have a shared culture, a shared language nor a shared value set. Proof? Everyone thinks and acts differently from everyone else. I do not understand your comment.
  17. I never said population was the only factor... Obviously there are other factors such as cultural similarity, media exposure, whether people have been to a place or not, etc. The more relevant a place is to a person, the more likely they are to remember it.
  18. Nonsense, people are more likely to remember places that are more relevant. I'll give you an extreme example: People are far more likely to know about the geography of Britain than the geography of Victoria island, even though Victoria island is bigger.
  19. Islam has the most beautiful music ever, the Islamic call to prayer: Clearly, it puts all those kaffir western composers to shame. *sarcasm*
  20. The humans could always fuse with the robots and become cyborgs.
  21. Not yet. But I look forward to free access to long wait times. Are you still deluded by Canadian Nationalism?
  22. Because more people live in the states... For example, that means more media exposure about those places, so greater chance of remembering them.
  23. This is nonsense. Nothing unites us (excluding things that would unite us with the majority of the rest of the developed world, such as freedom of speech) other than geographic location. Canadian nationalism is a lie.
  24. Yes but the United States has 9.12 times the population of Canada. So on a per capita basis, that is more names of Canadian provinces or territories that need to be remembered. Edit: maybe a better comparison would be to see which population can name and locate the most states, provinces and territories in total?
