  1. A yes. The true nature of the Alberta advantge comes to light: we don't have a homeless problem because we expel them to other provinces. At the the end of the day, Alberta will not be able to maintain a much higher standard of living compared to other provinces without attracting people - both good and bad. If Alberta tries to take only the good and dump the bad on other provinces then Alberta should not be surprised to find out that other provinces respond in similar way: or demand that the federal govt provide assistance for displaced Albertans. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The fact is those that were deported were from other provinces who were here looking for a hand out and had no intention of working.
  2. Actually using bible references archeologists have uncovered many historical sites.
  3. Sounds like an idea. Then Ontario can start handing out bus tickets to Calgary to the homeless on Yonge St.As long as the bus company understands that they will be responsible for paying their way back. Why? Alberta cannot stop anybody from moving to the province. In fact, it would be explicitly illegal for Alberta to put up any barrier to migration. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If Ont. can deport bus loads of its dregs of society, alberta can certainly turn them around at the border. In fact we sent them back to BC and Ont. before. Some years ago now, with one way bus tickets. Alberta does not claim to be a welfare state.

  5. Interesting idea. I don't want governments to go back into deficit spending because, like alcoholics and that one drink, governments that go into deficits cannot stop. However, there needs to be a better way of spending the supluses than letting the governing party run around like Santa Claus. A single check mailed to every Canadian taxpayer at the end of the year would be an extremely appropriate way to deal with it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually i was only thinking about alberta's surplus from oil royalties as a way of disposing of it to albertans before someone else tries to grab it.
  6. I hate to disappoint you but it is a record of history, but it's not the only one. Liberal types like to discredit the bibble and other ancient text so they can write their own version of history, but more importantly so they can write their own version of the future. Just like the first amendment has nothing to do with the liberal interpretation of separation of church and state, and everything to do with separating the people from their their history and god.
  7. Ottawa had been sorta gloating over their big surplus until they noticed somebody eyeing it up. All of a sudden it seem to disappear. Look out alberta. Personally i like the way alaska does it. Once a year everyone gets a cheque.
  8. The fact is there is no proof what soever for evolution and it still remains a theory. On the other hand we have the written word of our history. To dismiss it is no different than someone two thousand years from now dismissing what happened yesterday. Atheists/evolutionist what have you argue that life was all an accident. The problem is there would have to have been to many accidents and not only can they not explain the beginning of human or animal life, on top of all that there is the problem of all plant life. Where did the first seed come from.
  9. Yeah it will make a big difference, but don't let me stop you from living in one of those bird houses. When the plague hit london those who left the city were not infected. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  10. Which they did, but you can't respond to something that hasn't happened yet. The key word here is corrordinate. The state dropped the ball on their end. Leaving the feds to pick up the slack which takes time to organize the logistics. That still doesn't change the way it is handled. Surely an incident of national significance would require leadership and action on a national level. Evidently Bush had better things to do. 80% got themselves out. The mayor got no one out. The facts don't fall apart especially under your assuptions. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well maybe if you ever get the chance to manage something instead of playing monday morning quarterback you'll know. I guess if you can't make it as a republican you become a democrat. What the hell was bush going to do down there bail the water out. He's a manager, and doesn't have to be there to do that. He relys on the chain of command. Fema isn't going to send people in there until after the storm. To do otherwise would be stupid. When they did send people in there, the people they were suppose to rescue started shooting at them. The governor failed to call out the guard for security and protection and everything came to a stand still.
  11. Oh and B. Max, your little Red Cross meme has already been demolished: by the Red Cross themselves There wil be an investigation, headed by Republicans. The mandate will be to absolve the administration of any blame whatsoever. This is the Bush administration, after all: truth is irrelevant and accountability non-existent. As for the absurd notion that "the local democrat mayor and govenor (are) totally incompeten", let's reflect for a second on the fact that local officials were ale to evacuate 80 per cent of New Orleans, when FEMA projections from 2004 indicated that only about 1/3 of the population would be evacuated in the event of a catastrophic hurricane. Let's also not forget that, while Nagin and company were in the thick of disaster response operatons, the President was on vacation, plucking his guitar and attending fundraisers. Undoubtedly, there were failures, errors and missteps taken by the local government, as is bound to happen in an event of this magnitude. But let's not ignore the fact that Katrina was an event of national importance affecting a number of communities in a number of states along the Gulf Coast: in other words, this was precisely the kind of incident the federal government is suppossed to respond to. The only people interested in assigning blame, at least here on MLW, are G.O.P. partisans. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The responsibility to respond is with the local officials, that is the way it works. It's clear they botched it right from the beginning. Bush does not have to be in washington to make decisions, which he made. He did declare a state of emergency even before the storm hit and was the won who told the mayor to evacuate the city. After that the mayor and the governor screwed up. However bush could have done this but he wouldn't have done it until after they new the levve broke and the mess that followed. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/09/national...agewanted=print
  12. You should try something new. That garbage has already been discredited. The left was out of the gate before they new the facts. It never was about the facts anyway, so it didn't matter. It was about bashing bush. However as the facts have begun to get out we find that the state and local officials have bungled big time and right from the beginning. The hildibeast has was calling for a big investigation. I agree, there should be. It will expose the local democrat mayor and govenor as totally incompetent. The dems have circled the wagons and began shooting inward on this one. http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=46224
  13. I don't believe quebec recognizes the clarity act. I don't blame them. It belongs in the constitution as an amendment. Making what would seem to be constitutional law outside the constitution seems unconstitutional.
  14. You'd better hope the 'next big one' doesn't target the illiterate. Otherwise, one must weigh the pros and cons of being a hermit. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ooops, i stand corrected. Howd that get in there.
  15. Yes mirro i have. There's one below by eureka. Perhaps the last refuge of a scoundral, by those who can dish it out but can't take it. I always thought i took it easy on you mirror, however if you would like me to take it even easier on you i can do that. Or any one else who has such a problem. Maybe you could start a list or something and anyone who wants to can add their name to it and i'll gladly oblige.
  16. What a pile of garbage, then the first link trots out this sickle swinger. Al Sharpton.
  17. When the newest world pandemtic comes calling that they say is coming. The tighter they're packed in the easier it will be to racken and stackem. I would never live in the city again even as it is now, never mind if get them packed into something that resembles a Bombay slum.
  18. That's the line that democrats came. The truth is regan had a democratic congress who added huge expenditures on to regans budget, otherwise they weren't going to pass it. Of course they don't tell you that part. Yes clinton came up with a surplus by seriously crippling the military with huge budget cuts and reaped the rewards that came about from changes that regan made. The only claim clinton can make towards the economy is that he never did anything to it, although was busy in the backrooms conspirering with the likes of ken lay that would have done serious damage to the economy, because it lay who pushing clinton to sign kyoto. The crime rates began to lower in the US after states began to pass right to carry laws. Ridiculous, Bush is playing the hand he was delt, fighting a war against the islamic terrorists with the cuts that clinton had made to the military. A war that started some years before with most likey with bombing of the marine barracks in lebanon, night club bombing in germany, embassy bombings in africa, attack on the USS cole and so on. A war that clinton not only appeased but actualy helped the islamic terrorist with the airforce in kosovo. Bush never lied about anything. Iraq is part of the war on terror and rightly so. Saddam had WMD's and the means to make them were found in iraq including tons of yellow cake for restarting his nuke program with the US flew back to the US just last year. Al qaeda had a base in northern iraq and controlled twenty square miles. A base that the curds and the US military took out. Bush was on the job before the local officials were even before the hurricane hit. The mayor and the governor failed big time to do the job they were suppose to. Including looking after their levee's which actually survived the storm and did what they were suppose to. Turns out the levee that broke was one that was upgraded just two years ago not an old one. It nver broke until tuesday morning and the city didn't even know where the water was coming from until they finally went out and looked, but it was to late. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Clinton was the most corrupt president in US history, with scandal after scandal, and with an impeachment to go along with it. From white water to giving advanced missile guidance systems to china, he should have been charged with treason. With reason like yours and clintons, it's clear the left should never get their hands on the levers of power again.
  19. Interesting that the facts are facts to you only when they conform to your particular idealogical bias. As for the NYT making up stories, yeah, I remember Judith Miller's work on the Iraq WMD issue well, as well as Jayson Blair. But it's worth remembering that, whatever institutional biases the New York Times may have, it is a legitimate news outlet. However, the entire raison d'etre of NewsMax, Canada Free Press and their ilk is to disseminate propaganda. Damn that sonofbitch for all those years of peace and prosperity. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah right all those years of appeasement and corruption that we are now paying for.
  20. Newsmax is financed by Richard Mellon Scaife, the notorious ultra-right wing Republican wacko obsessed with destroying the Clintons. Carl Limbacher - I won't stoop to calling him a reporter, is also notorious for his particular fixation on Hillary Clinton. You do yourself no good quoting a web site and people like this. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Then you had better wipe the entire news media out of north america because they are all talking about the same thing. I couldn't give a damn what you think about news max, anything that presents facts that expose the lying left they attack, what else is new. The new york times is more your speed they've been caught making up stories time and again. Clinton was the worst president in US history somebody needed to expose him and his phoney wife.
  21. Now the culprits are starting to blame one an other. http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2005/9/5/234033.shtml Ata boy rush. http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2005/9/6/130300.shtml
  22. I see you've opted to not address my points but instead have chose the simple contradiction route. Perhaps next you will inform me that you are rubber and I am, in fact, glue? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What points. Why don't you respond to the facts in stead of making things up.
  23. What makes you think they would pay. Although trudeau did buy up the assets of some oil companies to form petro can, in the end all did was help eliminate competition.
  24. Half-baked conspiracy theories peddled by some right wing rag are not substitutes for "facts". The fact is FEMA's mandate is to coordinate the work of federal, state, and local agencies in responding to major disasters. Both state and local authorities requested federal assistance early on in this disaster, assistance that never materialized until way later. The fact is FEMA, after being absorbed into the department of Homeland Security, has become a dumping ground for Bush's cronies stafed with people with zero experience in emergency management (Homeland Security head Mike Chertoff claims to not have been aware of the levee breaches until Tuesday: some 36 hours after they occurred!) The fact is Bush was 404'd, even as it became apparent that the U.S. was facing the worst natural disaster in its history. Subsequent damage control attempts (“I don’t think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees.”) have been shown to be hollow, given repeated warnings that a major hurricane would swamp the levees (FEMA held a five-day exercise at the State Emergency Operations Center in Baton Rouge in July 2004 to develop joint response plans for a catastrophic hurricane in Louisiana in which a fictitious “Hurricane Pam” brought 120-mph winds and storms that “topped levees in the New Orleans area.” “More than one million residents evacuated and Hurricane Pam destroyed 500,000-600,000 buildings.”) The fact is, in a disaster of this scope, its up to the feds to show leadership and cordinate the recovery efforts. They failed. No amount of ass-covering by you or your fellow travellers can alter the above. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Crap, no amount of nonsense spewing by you can change the facts. The primary responsibility is local no matter the size. That is the way it works. The half baked conspiracy theories are that of the left.
  25. The facts are the facts BD. I know the left doesn't like it but that's the way it is. Making up stories policies and rules after the fact that don't exist is typical of the left. Now we find out that it was leftwing corruption that led to the dead bodies that the left is now walking over in their blame game.
