We hear a lot of people on here complaining that they should be free to choose their own health care and of course they are touting Health insurance. Here are some experiences in my own family about this. My son in law was going to Africa with his wife. They went for extensive health checks and it was discovered that he had a faulty valve in his heart. That was the end of his trip, and several months later the problem became so acute that he was actually passing out just sitting in a chair. He was rushed into the operation and got a pigs heart valve and is doing very well. The doctors were fascinated that a farmer, who was used to fatty meals had such clear arteries. Three weeks later his brother came in after feeding his cattle on a nice morning and felt sick. He lay down and died immediately of a massive heart attack. When my son in law applied for the extra health care he had been paying for from an insurance company he was turned down. They claimed that this was a pre existing condition and was not covered by his insurance, even thought discovering this condition had been a big surprise to his family. By the way the father of these two boys lived to be 90. My husband worked for a family company with extre health care and benefits which he and the company paid for. When he developed hip problems and was told after his operation that he could not go back to work he had a terrible time with the insurance company, insisting that he apply for Canadian disability insurance. He did get his disability from the insurance company finally but they did not want to pay it. This from an insurace company that is advertizing heavily on the TV right now about how great they are. On Market Place seveal weeks ago they did a show on mortgage insurance and showed that insurance companies will not grant you insurance if you went for any test to the doctor prior to getting insurance even though these tests had nothing to do with your condition. This is how Canadians are treated by Private Health Insurance companies and it evidently is very common in the US for the same things to happen.

Outside apprearances can be very well managed. I don't think things are as black and white as they appear even some of his family have commented on the fact that it might be just an annomoly that he is Prime Minister.

I have been asked on here by poster why I dislike Harper. I don't dislike him I am afraid of him and this is a prime example of how manipulate and controlling this man is. Canadians should be very wary of this government. They are busy doing things behind the electorates back with no accountability what so ever. Now I am even more frightened of him.

Interesting that in the Star Telegram from Texas I believe reports that an hour before Obama was to speak at a Dallas rally, the security guards were order to stand down and stop all searches for weapons That newspaper goes on to report that " The security concerns come on the back of warnings last week of by British Nobel Prize winner Doris Lessing that caused a media storm. The 88 year old novelist predicted the assassinatin of Barak Obama if he becomes the first Black US president http://www.infowars.net/articles/february2...220208Obama.htm

What % of non-whites are assimilated into Canadian culture?
margrace replied to iForgot's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Interesting aside from the Asian view. One in 200 people is estimated to be descendant from Ghengi Khan, or roughtly the population of Canada. -
From a friend in Brownsville texas " Just as a matter of interest, a typical week produces several millions of illegal drugs being siezed at US border points along the valley. Its a huge issue here. The local cops (and customs) get to keep the proceeds of anything they seize, so they are very vigilant. They get new cars, comm equipment and all that none budget stuff with the money and vehicles they seize. How many Ontario police departments drive siezed Hummers and Cadillacs?

Jdobbin, its like the cigaret lobby, smokers were so against the fact that it was killing people and did not want to admit they might be wrong, but finally commen sense prevailed. When one is surrounded by asthmatics and sees what the bad air does to them it kinda hit home.

Can we afford to do anything about the environment, the bottom truth if we don't it won't matter a lot of us will be dead.
-
Hi Kathy, old friend, long time no hear, still as disagreable as ever aye. Are you still on CARP?

When poisons in the air and in our food are causing cancer I do think it is a pretty high price to pay. We have now lost 2 family members to Leukemia and one who has survived. Pretty expensive that.
-
Boy ladies another one, this bill must be very dear to someone's heart. Are we getting to close to home
-
Going back to the original question "Are you prepared to pay for it?" we already are, a hugh rise in health care costs repeating an old Itme but how many people do you know with leukemia and blood related cancers. Do you realize that a transplant comes in at over $250 thousand dollars in the US. Haven't priced it out here but now I think I will. I think our environment is killing us,yes we are already paying for it big time.

Oh no ladies here comes another one, we must be getting somewhere. Did you every notice how many different women the conservatives seem to have trouble with.
-
And I hope it opened a few peoples eyes on just how sneakiy this gov't is. Women in particular need to pay attention.,
-
Its really nice that it appears that some women on here trust Mr. Harper. Oh well when you find out different it will be too late. How can you trust someone who has always said he did not approve of abortion. He is a control freak
-
It appears that this bill to come up for vote on March the 5th, 2008 will allow women who have had abortions to be charges with harming a fetus. I knew Harper was pretty slippery but this takes the cake.

Well if a country is getting put down then one says how they feel. I don't believe Canada is poor so I said so. Canadians for a long time have taken their country for granted. We should be touting it greatness.

U.S. Presidential Elections 2008

Somebody must be getting stirred up about Obama, now there are some pretty nasty email fwds attacking Oprah and Maryanne Williamson. Evidently they are both backing Obama. These are the types of post one is requested to pass on and Oprah has suddenly become a devil worshipper in them. -
Do you people know anything about the Metis. They had farms and properties and they were stolen from them. They were treated badly and Riel only was trying to stick up for them.

I get tired of the constant whinning of people who have it so good. What you need and what you want are entirely different. All you are entitled to in this world is a warm place to sleep in freedom, a full stomach when you do go to bed and the knowledge that you are safe. Everything else is coincidental. Most of you probably have good jobs that are satisfying, what more could you need. Would Canadian please stop complaining you live in the best country in the world and all you do is bitch.
