Liberals Scrambling-Gomery Leaks
fellowtraveller replied to bbacon's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Already the Liberal apologists on this board are squirming. How sweet it will be to see this corrupt and disgraceful government fall, and I sincerely hope they fall hard and long. We deserve no less. -
Edmonton Police Service under fire
fellowtraveller replied to I Miss Trudeau's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
No they aren't. And no,they haven't. So, the system worked. Your point is..... And Ignasiuk did announce the new Chief before Council knew much. That is a big assumption, why would you presume that?? -
Same thing really. The political will of the nation is expressed through the Liberal Party, and elected wholesale by Ontario. Senate Reform is basically impossible, thanks to the wisdom of Trudeau. Making an effective Senate wll require a redistribution of power away from Central Canada, and that will never happen. It's a bitter and sick joke, nothing else. Our system of governance in this country is an anachronism, with the Senate as the first but not worst exhibit..

Why are we so easily satisfied?
fellowtraveller replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Well said, though you do not present a more salient point- that vast majority of Canadian health care services are already provided by the private sector. This is something the idiots chanting 'Save Medicare' just don't seem to grasp. The vast majority of doctors are private practitioners, and they are just the tip of the iceberg of privately provided services. I want the most bang for my buck, and I don't care who provides it. -
Edmonton Police Service under fire
fellowtraveller replied to I Miss Trudeau's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
The old commissioner was finally at war with the Police Service, and with much of City Council, including the Council appointees to the Commission. His effectiveness in dealing with both was now reduced to near zero. Time to go, and this move allowed him to save face at no cost to anybody. He screwed up bigtime not when he dumped Rayner- which was appropriate and unchallenged- but when he announced his replacement immediately - bypassing his own commission and City Council. Fatal blunder, and the real reason he is gone. I have no doubt at all that the new commish will be in the same reform spirit as Ignasiuk, without the baggage. -
The Conservative Love-In
fellowtraveller replied to Newfie Canadian's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The CBC faces a terrible quandary with this Conservative convention. Do they provide their usual biased, horribly slanted coverage, distorting the facts while finding minor scabs to pick at endlessly? Or do they just ignore it and hope the bad guys go away and don't ever threaten their fat jobs again? Tough choice. -
Edmonton Police Service under fire
fellowtraveller replied to I Miss Trudeau's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Note that the Commissioner has now resigned, citing 'conflict of interest' at the law firm he works for. So, as predicted, wewill now see a new Commissioner and a new Chief soon. Both are positive developments. -
BC Liberals spend on education
fellowtraveller replied to willy's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
BC is following the path Alberta took 11 years ago. Result: Alberta easily leads Canada in objectively measured scholastic achievement, and is very near the top jurisdiction worldwide. Lesson learned: Success (and there is no question Albertas experience is a positive result for the students)is as much due to how you spend the money as it is to how much money you spend. I blame Klein for this outcome. Only idiots confuse ideology with measurable progress, and that is the real battle in BC. -
Very likely that Dinning will be the man, it is his to lose. He's a bit of a nightmare for the Opposition: good on TV, well respected, not much baggage.
-
Absolute rubbish. Your financial collapse was due to lack of investment by everybody. You'd have to be nuts to invest in a socialist environment filled with high cost, low productivity operations. BTW, Alberta and guess who, yes BC are expected to lead the country in economic growth next year. Another coincidence, nothing to do with dumping the yoke of socialism from the shoulders of the working man....
-
Gossip and trivia. Talk about revenue and expenditures, or go back to the sandbox. Notice how BCs economy is starting to turn around for the first time in a decade +? Just a coincidence in the ideological blindness of the socialists. As a Canadian, I'm so glad that a wealthy province like BC finally has an opportunity to get off the federal tit and move forward. Next up: Manitoba.

Is Ernst Zundell a victim? Why extradition?
fellowtraveller replied to paulpaul's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Note that rense.com is a white supremacist site, inhabited by Holocaust deniers and other scum. Paulpaul has apparently gone to the dark side, no great loss. -
The CBC is unquestionably biased to a liberal/Liberal agenda, it serves them well in their quest for survival. My question is: why are we paying for it, all of us? If you are a loyal listener/viewer then pay for it yourself. I do't ask for your money to support my entertainment, why do you insist I pay for yours? CKUA has done it in Alberta, and is transformed into a model for subscriber supported public radio.

Canada's Democratic Deficit
fellowtraveller replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Actually, the division of powers - really areas of responsibility - is made quite clear in our Constitution. What has goe awry is the constant and inconsistent meddling by the federal govt in areas that are clearly a provincial mandate. The only province that has insisted on control of their affairs is Quebec, but the rumblings are loud and getting louder from every side now. I would welcome a major change in governance i this country, our 17th century parliamentary system simply is ot serving any of us well. -
Pravda with scrubbed faces ad better teeth. $900 million annually and this is what we get? I don't object to the existence of the CBC, if that is what you need then knock your socks off. But I do not want to pay for it through taxes, especially since CBC TV looks the same as any other commercial station, but with pathetic made-in-Canada programming. Nope, if you like it, you pay for it.

Wouldn't they first have to forget that he introduced health care premiums?

Edmonton Police Service under fire
fellowtraveller replied to I Miss Trudeau's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Perhaps you're not familiar with the incident if you believe this. It was not the Police Commissioner that was the #1 target of the rogue operation by the cops, it was a reporter for the Edmonton Sun newspaper. There is absolutely no way this will disappear because of the Sun connection, which is why the new Police Chief will have this as Job 1 on his first day at work, unless a formal inquiry is undertaken by the Solicitor-General. Soon after the new chief is appointed, expect to see a new Commissioner too. -
It is comments like this that make me fearful for the future of our country. A LEADER is judged not by the easy decisions he makes, but by the unpopular ones. Martin, and his predecessor, do not delay or obfusctate important issues because it serves Canadians, they do it because it serves them as Liberals. I am sickened by my fellow citizens who recognize this and applaud it. I would even give Martin the benefit of doubt in his missile defence decision. But the facts are that again he has lied to us. Unless Canada withdraws from MORAD, we are already party to missile defence. No mention of that from Martin. No mention of his commitment to a parliamentary debate. Remember that promise? No mention off why he has reversed his opinion on Canadian participation. Remember that?

I'd provide an answer to all your questions, but unfortunately I'm a victim of Zionist Mind Control and all of those particular synapses are blocked. -

Edmonton Police Service under fire
fellowtraveller replied to I Miss Trudeau's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
It can hardly be 'shrouded in secrecy' given what has occurred lately. -
No, it is not 'word games'. Clearly you have never operated a business, so you are forgiven being wrong twice. Taxes are not levied against 'corporate income', they are levied against income after operating costs including all salaries are deducted. There is no CCRA tax on employess salaries at the corporate level, only at the personal tax retur level. It is a tax exemption, not taxable incomes for the corporation. August gives an example of double taxation that is valid, but yours most definitely is not.
-
No, they aren't. Wages and salaries are an expense item that is not incuded in taxable incomes. Corps are taxed on net income, not gross revenue, just like ordinary taxpayers.

Edmonton Police Service under fire
fellowtraveller replied to I Miss Trudeau's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Not really. The three senior officers are still subject to the inquiry as directed by Rayner, that has not changed. The new chief may also order further inquiry into the conduct of the seven junior officers. I would guess that the new chief will be ordered to re-open that investigation as a topo priority by the Police Commission. Bet on it. -
The problems in BC arent' problems with the trivia of the social systems that posters whine about endlessly. The problems lie with revenue, the ability to pay for all that lovely stuff. You can't borrow money indefinitely, unless you accept passing such a horrific legacy of debt to your children. You can't pay for all of that stuff in an environment of failure and reliance on government. Look to the revenue side for salvation, and fiscal responsibility on the expenditure side. Try creating a spirit of energy and self sufficiency in the citizenry instead of a pervasive atmosphere of whiny me-first entitlement. Try creating an environment where business wants to invest and create jobs , instead of leaving. Try it, you just may find that at least some of those lovely social programs are affordable
