  1. Obama Warns of Debt Stalemate President Obama will not promise that Social Security checks will go out on August 3 unless a deficit-reduction deal is struck. "I cannot guarantee that those checks go out… There may simply not be enough money in the coffers to do it," he told Scott Pelley of CBS News on Tuesday. "This is not just a matter of Social Security checks," he explained. These are veterans' checks, these are folks on disability and their checks. There are about 70 million checks that go out." Meanwhile, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said that he does not think a significant reduction deal can be reached as long as Obama is in power. He said, "After years of discussions and months of negotiations, I have little question that as long as this president is in the Oval Office, a real solution is probably unattainable." 2. Yes and if you add what is going on in the Eurozone we could be headed in the same direction.
  3. Once interest rises credit will tighten. Small businesses relying on credit to keep their businesses from going under will collapse putting more people out of work. This will have a multiplier effect and will further exacerbate an already fragile situation.
  4. Keep on searching. I have already laid out my position. You seem to lack good research skills.
  5. Perhaps some of the more affluent seniors. However many more seniors aren't in this category and have little or no savings.
  6. Surely Shady isn't suggesting that the Republicans want to create a worldwide crisis causing a devalued American dollar, increased interest rates and further devastation to the people of the United States.
  7. What if the House sends a budget bill to the President and he vetoes it. What then?
  8. Pay attention. I have already articulated my position.
  9. Here in the City of Winnipeg we have shootings on almost a daily basis in the westend, northend and even in the more affluent southend of the city. In addition many of the reserves here in Manitoba are infested with gangs and gun violence. There is an obvious purpose for a registry and that should be obvious to all concerned.
  10. Guns, whether registered or otherwise, are a problem and that includes the gang war you refer to. I am not obliged to accept the position you take on the issue. By the way do you live in Winnipeg?
  11. That may be your point but the group you refer to is not representative of the majority.
  12. Except it will continue when push comes to shove.
  13. If they are not the issue then why the resistance to register? I live in a large city and I can tell you guns are an issue here.
  14. When Bush was in office the debt limit was routinely renewed.
  15. You are stuck with your position and I undertsand your need to be right even though you aren't.
  16. Shady is one confused fellow. He doesn't seem to realize that even though the Republicans hold the majority in the House they don't have the votes to sustain a position.
  17. Settle down. Take a deep breath and exhale.
  18. This must be a chapter of some gun club. Do you have a gun bible?
  19. Take Saipan for instance. He hides his weapons and somehow moves guns back and forth acrosss the border. I doubt all his guns are registered.
  20. Your anger is showing. Tell me have you registered all your guns?
  21. It keeps the gun owners in check and provides the police with a data base to trace the bad guys.
  22. Why are gun owners so afraid to register their weapons?
  23. My issue is your lack of understanding of the fundamentals of economics.
  24. I don't consider my statement as an insult. It is more an observation than an insult.
