That school system you are referring to seems to have failed you.

You are conflating two seperate events.

As the premiere power after the Second World War the Americans pretty well dictated the outcome of the Bretton Woods conference. It wasn't so much that the Europeans abandoned this event as it was the preeminence of the Americans. As you know Europe had been devastated by the war.

Gun nuts fail to see the logic in a registry even though most people are aware of its usefulness in police investigations.
-
Maybe you should communicate with Premier McGuinty.
-
Something tells me you are a person who won't be satisfied regardless of the answer.

More drivel from the pseudo economist.

I agree with the previous poster relative to your lack of knowledge about economics. I would like to recommend a course in introductory economics. It is quite obvious you are severely deficient.

I would like to add the following link addressing the subsidies offered to the oil and gas industry http://www.albertasurfacerights.com/articles/?id=529

Get educated. Try this While the country’s debt continues to rise, the federal government is subsidizing oil companies with $1.4 billion per year. This number increases even more if other fossil fuels, such as coal, are factored into the calculation. Along with provincial subsidies, the amount of subsidies provided to fossil fuel companies reached up to $2.84 billion in 2008, according to the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD). However, over half of it ($1.59 billion) is taken in by the Alberta tar sands, the world’s biggest environmental disaster. This is larger than the combined 2008 budgets of Environment Canada ($1.1 billion) and Alberta Environment ($403 million). Annually, the tar sands brings in above $1.2 trillion, yet more than $1.1 trillion of the revenue does not belong to Canadian companies but to foreign-owned companies, five of which are ranked by Fortune magazine in 2010 as being among the top 10 largest in the world. http://whsword.wordpress.com/2011/04/06/time-to-stop-adding-to-canada%E2%80%99s-56-billion-dollar-debt/

You neglected to mention the huge subsidies provided by government to these American entities.
-
I am inclined to agree with you. Canada is essentially a petrostate. Harper has his head up the ass of the oil and gas industry.
-
Americans need Canadian resources and in particular the product in the tar sands. Canada, on the other hand, has the capacity to provide the product to China and elsewhere. As such it will be damaged but to a lesser extent than the USA.
-
As will your way of life. Have fun in your cave.

Winnipeg has warm and sunny summers and this year is no different.
-
Although you are obviously a slow learner you have finally caught on.
-
My fiscal affairs are none of your business.
-
If you are an American you already have more than your share of mediocrity.
-
This should be obvious to all but the most doctrinaire such as yourself.
-
Because it is currently a topic of discussion in the media.
-
Get over yourself. Your reality has a very narrow constituency.

You are an apologist for the wealthy and I have noticed your tendency to deflect and obfuscate.

TimG: FYI http://web2.gov.mb.ca/laws/statutes/ccsm/e190e.php Expropriation of land of authority 8(1) Where an authority other than the Crown expropriates land of which another authority is an owner, either authority may apply to The Municipal Board to prescribe, and the board may prescribe, the terms and conditions, including the provision of other lands and facilities, upon which the expropriation may proceed, and the board may, in its absolute discretion, order that the expropriation be abandoned. Paramount rights preserved 8(2) Nothing in this section limits any paramount right that an authority has by statute. Considerations in municipal expropriation 8(3) In respect of the expropriation of land in a municipality by another municipality, The Municipal Board shall include in its considerations the interests of each municipality and the owner and occupier of the land, the need for the proposed expropriation, the availability of other land, and any alternative to expropriating the land. Jurisdiction over expropriated land 8(4) Land expropriated in a municipality by another municipality remains subject to the jurisdiction of the municipality in which it is situated and is subject to any tax levied by that municipality in respect of the land, unless the municipalities otherwise agree or The Municipal Board otherwise orders.

You don't know your American history very well when you suggest American society has always had inequities. Much of the financial resources of the rich go offshore where the wealthy can avoid paying taxes.
-
What the statistics clearly show is that there are growing inequities in American society and the middle class and the poor are bearing the brunt of the excesses of the neoliberal model currently in place.
