The real world. Did I say that? But quite frankly, devoting two lines to the fact that Harper missed a photo-op up because of his bladder is lazy journalism. What SUNTV is doing is a smear job. If the names were reversed, you'd see the difference.

The reputation was such that it was a licensed establishment. As I said before, he should have been more careful, but that's a stretch to say the reputation of the establishment wasn't a secret when there has been nothing of the kind reported.

You are right. What they did was sleezy, but hardly libellous.

The media should be reporting on things that are actually worth reporting, not on the fact that a certain politician went to get a massage 15 years ago and was not choosey enough in his choice of establishment. Don't you agree?

Better for the Liberals not to be part of any formal coaltion. That way, if the party in power does badly, they don't sink with it.

The Conservatives will sure win some additional seats in Ontario, but not more than 10 or so. EVen with keeping their numbers elsewhere in the country, that would not be enough to give them a majority. Especially when they gotta lose some in BC and Quebec. Realistically, how many more seats are they gonna win in Alberta?

The difference is... Harper POLITICAL COMMENTS from 15 years ago are indicative of his political viewpoints at the time, and many people believe (not without reasons, in some cases), that he still holds some of those views.

What I find the most interesting with all the hysteria about the NDP is that, in nthe event Harper does not have a majority on Monday, Layton will not be the next PM. What I expect would happen is Harper staying in power with Liberal or Bloc support, the next budget being a bit (but not substancially) different than the one submitted in March, both Harper and Ignatieff being gone in one year or two. The NDP would likely need the support of both the Liberals and the Bloc. I don't see it happening. The NDP is the last part the Bloc would be likely to support right after the election, and Duceppe too will be on the way out.

His riding didn't include that area. Simply googling for the results of the 1994 election results for Metro Council will show it. But wait, it will also show that the member of Metro Council for that area was... Olivia Chow. How reckless of her not to go through police reports of raids before her husband went for a massage.

Yep. He was trying to conceal his identity, so he used his legal name. Clearly, the guy is not suited for political office.

Does police issue the details of each and every raid they conduct to the public? Are concillors informed of details of police operations? As for the fact the place in question was suspected of being a bawdy house. How many arrests have been made there? As was pointed out by other people, plenty of legitimate massage therapy locations are raided.

The connotation is not in the news story, but in how some choose to misinterpret the facts. It is still disgusting. And it would have been so easy for the cops in question to break Layton's career right there. Bring everyone at the station for questioning, then discreetly inform a journalist that it would be a good idea to bring a photographer to the station at a given time... That it didn't happen tells me two things. That these cops acted professionally, and that they didn't find anything illegal in what Layton was doing there.

Until someone comes with actual facts that would prove his response is not believable, what we have is what was reported. Which is enough for me to conclude that he was not engaged in a sexual act.

I for one would think that the police in this kind of situation would get anybody to the station first, but well I have never been to a bwdy house or any place that someone could think is a bawdy house That the police didn't do that is more telling than anything else.

Are you thinking he lied? If you do, back it up with actual evidence. Until proven otherwise (and I won't even asked the proof to be beyond a doubt, just credible), Jack Layton did not engage in any illegal or sexual act at that location. Anything argument otherwise is, at best, politically motivated gossip.

Feel free to show us a physical description of the place Layton went to.

The only immorality here is that of those who insist that Jack Layton committed something immoral (or illegal) with no actual concrete evidence of it, and that for the sole porpose of scoring political points.
