  1. How does this guy Higgly survive on this forum? He has only one way of talking, and it is worse than Imus ever was.
  2. Coulter doesn't comply with the first, because she holds up human virtues to scorn, not vices or follies. She doesn't comply with the second for the same reason, PLUS she doesn't use wit, irony, or sarcasm. She uses lies and abuse. She does not hold virtues to scorn. She scorns human folly and hypocracy. And second, humor is in the eye of the beholder, and she is extremely witty and sarcastic. Ann Coulter is a political satirist. Different from Mark Twain, but certainly she fits the definition for the 21st century.
  3. You have answered your own question. Plenty of middle class and rich people commit "crime". I grew up poor and "black" (but not a victim) in Philadelphia and have enjoyed tremendous opportunities...this obsession with health care must be a Canadian thing, as it was never an issue for us. Mama paid in cash for services rendered, just like the sign said. Very simple. Canadian Blue appears to be speechless. There seems to be a culture of being a victim, which is different than a culture of being poor. All my grandparents were immigrants, they were one time poor. The Asians have come here poor, but there are comparatively few asians commiting crime.
  4. Who would ever have thought that Sharpton would have been successful. Imus did put up a fight, but pulled his punches. It was the perfect storm. Sharpton should apologize to the Duke players, and the Brawley policeman he sullied. But he won't. Nifong has apologized to the Duke players, but probably for a reason other than civility.
  5. Why not. Anything involving PC decisions, education, speech, etc. is a topic of interest if a member in good standing of this forum wishes to make it so.
  6. I bet Imus is sorry he talked with Sharpton. Sharpton is the winner here with the threat of boycotts. He didn't even have to deliver on one. For me, the MSNBC spot was the more important. He is not carried in my area by radio.
  7. Imus was a friend of the blacks. He advocated for Katrina NO Blacks, among other things for them. At 67 his career was almost over, or should be. The Blacks probably have done more harm to their cause than good.
  8. World events? Fact is his ad was purposely influenced my medication manipulation. That manipulation was rightly pointed out by Limbaugh, and was overlooked elsewhere. Fact is, he points out manipulations and bias of the media all the time. As far as holding incorrect views, more likely the opposite.
  9. He rightly pointed out that his Parkinsons symptoms was enhanced by his willfully not taking medication. This was a valid observation, not humor. The purpose of the enhancement was promoting stem cell, also rightfully noted. Again, Limbaugh could have you for lunch x 10.
  10. We have laws against hate speech in Canada. You wouldn't know hate speech if you drank it. Drunks know everything, not.
  11. Lots of the Blue flowing in his veins tonight. The life of a drunk....obnoxious, beligerant, know it all. No real thinking, just big talk.
  12. Limbaugh could eat you for lunch. You must make lots of sense to your barflys while drinking your Canadian Blue, but hardly anywhere else.
  13. Actually, Imus is liberal, good riddance. But he will not get fired because he is liberal, and has powerful friends like Russert.
  14. Why should he not want to talk about them. They seem to have an cause: antiJewish, antiChristian, and proIslamic rights. Any discussion about it is current, because the issues are current, and will not go away. Right to wear, right to not process transactions, rights to and not to are debatable topics in a pluralistic society, especially when it effects others. It seems Canadian Blue is one of those who does not like free speech, funny especially in a forum such as this. It is actually against the sprit of the rules, and any actions to disrupt free discourse should be sanctioned. I wonder how many bottles of the Blue does it take to give his thoughts such clarity.
  15. Only a figure of speech. Kind of like a pool shark going into a pool hall, and challenging someone to a game of pool. And then he hits you with the ol the US doesn't respect Canada enough arguement, and you counter with a topic changeup, why should they if Canadians don't respect themselves. This probably left the poor barfly clueless as how to defend against a pro, instead of countering with the 'what does that have to do with' arguement. It is the same thing as beating him up.
  16. Of course it is enjoyable, but quite anonymous. Also, everyone here by joining indicates an interest in same. This would not be the same in some bar in a foreign country. When I visited Toronto, I made comment on the poor fellow who built Casa Loma, but I did not find some bar and beat up on some poor patron, and then comment here on his ignorance of history. Just an observation, that's all.
  17. Not really. Harmless prank, that's all.
  18. Why the attack of a personal nature? There is an old saying do not talk politics and religion among friends. You could add a third and that would be don't ask why is our relationship so disfunctional. You are well capable of defending the US in verbal debate, but this was a vacation. Time to unwind, unless winning arguements is a form of relaxation.
  19. I like Thompson, but I can remember former NY mayors like Dinkins who were disasters. Giuliani did clean up NY. I remember the subway cars that looked like circus trains, times square which was full of porn, and guys who attacked the winshields with sponges. He went after organized crime as a prosecutor. He is not pretty, but effective.
  20. JBG, I am glad you are not acting as the US ambassador for good will. Who brought the topic up wwith this guy. Where was it, it a bar? Bush will be gone in less than two years, and hopefully forgotten in less than that.
  21. are you for real???? So your ok with secretive meetings, in a democracy??? You know where gov is accountable to the people? So I'll take it you voted for this North American union, right? "The partnership's stated goal is to protect North America from security threats such as terrorism and flu pandemics as well as economic threats from new global-market giants such as China." The world is acting more and more as economic blocks. Often times according to continental geographical lines. What is wrong with a meeting? "Many of the accord's measures are not contentious, such as plans to improve water quality, reduce sulphur in fuels, and co-ordinate efforts to fight pandemics and avian flu. But it also covers a host of hot-button issues such as plans to enhance data-sharing on high-risk travellers, revamp safety and environmental regulations, centralize the assessment of new chemicals and rework food safety standards."
  22. If the muslims were to go back to the pure word of the Koran along with the hadiths you would have 1.2 billion Osama Bin Ladens. Pure Islam is the faith of Osama Bin Laden. The only way to come up with a new moderate Islam is you would have to rewrite the Koran and the Hadiths. Because they say in them to kill the Christians and Jews wherever you find them. Mohammed's method of killing was beheading, which he personally did thousands of times that are recorded. The perfect role model according to the Koran is Mohammed's life. The reason you have moderate Islamists is because they are ignorant of their religion. But that is coming to an end the more that the radicals terrorize and publish there doings on the internet. http://www.cbc.ca/programs/sites/hottype_n...ript021129.html "Evan Solomon: First of all, Taslima, I'm glad you're here. Last time you were in Canada, I understand you were at Concordia University and what happened? Taslima Nasrin: Many students who were Muslim, they protested. They didn't like me to say anything against Islam so and I had to stop. The police took me away from the room." So much for open mindedness.
  23. The depth of your input is astounding. Keep up the good work little girl.
  24. Here Here. The problem is something like Clinton's asprin factory. The insurgents are like thugs who go around making trouble, and go back to the ghetto. They have an advantage over the big advanced country. The US has made some people around the world 'disappear', and has done alot of assassinations with drones. I guess they can start making families disappear also. Actually, I think the US has shown alot of backbone, but it can not stop a civil war especially when there is no problem with resupply, for them.
