  1. I think moron is too strong a word for Bush. Genius no, Moron no. He is certainly above average in mental ability, but probably below average in social skills for a person in his position. Sometimes these things can be corrected with handlers, as was the case with Clinton. Gergan was his handler. In the early months of his Presidency he held up a whole airport because he had his hair cut on the airplane. The firing of the White House staff was another early goof. Bush does not seem to have a handler who can help him with propriety. It certainly is a mine field, propriety that is. For Ms. BayLee to call someone a moron only speaks poorly of her sense of propriety.
  2. Spoken like a true politician. How about District Attorney?
  3. I know you are not a francophone, but that would be a good excuse for your often horrible English grammar, and spelling skills. If you read some more political books, your skills will probably improve though.
  4. I did not accuse you of authoring this thread. I was only referencing your selective moral outrage and hypocracy with regard to the content of this thread, and its author. You are quick to use the Anti word towards me, but not toward the BCC. AntiChristian is a moral equivalent to AntiJewish. This is a fact.
  5. The story acknowledges that few of the Americans claim the rebate. The duty free stores probably benefit the most. The interesting part of the story is the sharp drop in American tourism to Canada over the past six years. It is probably greater than 28%, that was only through 2005. The sprit I refer to is good, they can go f*** themselves.
  6. In Feb 14 Buffalo News: http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20070214/1035087.asp By DAVID ROBINSON News Business Reporter 2/14/2007 Ever spend a weekend in Toronto or buy furniture at IKEA and file to get the 6 percent "goods and services" tax back when you returned to the United States? You may not be able to do that anymore. The Canadian government wants to revoke the visitor rebate policy. Merchants in the Niagara Region of Southern Ontario are lobbying against the change, fearing it would deliver a major blow to the region's tourism industry. "Canceling the visitor rebate program will cost this city jobs and could force the closure of small businesses that rely on tourists," Niagara Falls, Ont., Mayor Ted Salci said after a news conference Tuesday. The Tourism Industry Association of Canada said ending the rebate program would result in the loss of more than 5,700 jobs and take a $204 million (U.S.) bite out of the Canadian economy. The outcry started soon after the Canadian government announced in September that it would eliminate the Visitor Rebate Program as of April 1. The government said it would save an estimated $74 million in rebates and other costs associated with operating a program that relatively few tourists use. The Canada Revenue Agency said less than 3 percent of all foreign visitors to Canada take advantage of the rebate program for the 6 percent tax applied to most goods and services sold in Canada. But Canadian tourism officials said the tourism industry already is grappling with a 28 percent plunge in visits by Americans from 2000 to 2005. Tourism officials attributed the drop largely to the scare involving severe acute respiratory syndrome, the strong Canadian dollar, tightened post-9/11 border security measures and confusion over proposed U.S. passport requirements. "Americans are already staying away in droves," said Sarah Wood, Niagara Parks Commission public relations manager. "The federal government is kicking us when we're down." In November, 263,718 same-day car trips were made to Canada across the four Niagara River bridges, down 9.9 percent from the same month last year, according to Statistics Canada. Chuck Loewen, general manager of Peace Bridge Duty Free, said more than half of the visitors who receive instant refunds at duty-free shops or other third-party refund sites spend that money immediately on other goods and services from Canadian companies. The Visitor Rebate Coalition, consisting of 14 Canadian industry and business associations, has urged transferring the costs and program administration to an industry-backed group. e-mail: [email protected]
  7. Your bedfellow BCChick is the author of this thread, which is the moral equivalent of an antisemetic rant. Where was the moral outrage? Is it only reserved for the antiJewish, antisemetic moniker. And finally Mr. Reimel who might be a frankophone given his usage of the English language, your other new bedfellow. Strange bedfellows all especially considering your sensitivities. Where have I staryed from the facts?
  8. Consider the possibility that he may not be the problematic character. Consider the possibility that an author of a antiChristian, antiPope, antiRomanCatholic bating thread is no differnet than an antisemite Mr. JBG.
  9. Strange bedfellows indeed. An antiRomanCatholic, antiPope, incoherent intellectual wannabe. A Jewish Israel apologist who would send unknown number of goys, I mean boys to death in Iran, and who dislikes grammar mistakes together with a fellow to whom English is a second language.
  10. The DC getting Grammies is like Carter getting the Nobel Peace Prize. Liberals are using a contest to make a political statement. It raises some interest, but the DC have lost in the end. Some sales are made up by libs buying their songs, but the traditional base of Country music will never, never return.
  11. Why not just say you are anti-Jewish? As for your second question, what is your system of morality? I question it. No, what I contend is you are antiChristian. Just like many Jews you want the protection of the Christians for Israel, but inherently distrust and hate them. You enjoy that Christianity is a stepchild of Jewish thought, as in "JudeoChristian" tradition in the founding of a nation, but quick to distance from it also. "I am not Christian." Listen to the following long enough and I think many would come to a similar conclusion. http://www.toviasingershow.com/ToviaHome.aspx Oh, and btw, your interest in spelling is interesting. Perhaps it indicates an anal retentive nature.
  12. Also not relavent to this thread, but might I add that it is pure intellectual lazyness to write it all off as God did it. Of course it is irrelevant to this thread, since I am only trying to be sarcastic. The belief in a supreme being might be intellectually lazy, but it is a lazyness shared by some of the greatest minds in history, including the founding fathers of the US. With regard to your other banterings about forcing belief, or God happy when people forced to..., just so much hot air, or in this case drive space.
  13. Talk about revealing himself, you sure are a GWB hater, and a DC supporter.
  14. Yes, the invisible guy is very happy when people follow him and give him respect. Since you did not create yourself, and can not reproduce yourself without magic called DNA, many people are willing to hold credible that there is a guy in the sky. Beyond the magic of conception, what happens upon death? For Slavik44 the answer is nothing. Thats all there is folks. That is not a very powerful message Slav. And finally, no government is forcing religion on anyone. Who knows maybe someday you can show us the magic of life and death and uncontrolable/unexplainable events, and we can worship Slavik44.
  15. Why not just say you are Jewish? Why was it important to you to say that you were NOT Christian while defending common based eithics and morality? Why is it important that you want people to know your religion? Because you are on a mission to defend it and Israel from attack, even from an atheist.
  16. It used to be a party would look for a balanced ticket, usually north/south, to attract voters. The twist of Female/Negro would be a twist that I doubt the country is ready for. Even to this day, there has only been one Roman Catholic President. The Presidential debates will be very interesting, and it is here where the election often turns. I have heard it already reported that Obama needs more meat on the bones of his campain, and his polling numbers are not rising. He is young and might be looking 4-8-12 years out. The problem for the Republicans is name recognition and charisma and the difficulty of campaining while your party holds the office.
  17. There were several I enjoyed. There was the language class. When asked for a Bud, no speakie de Inglis. Then there was the Comb Over from his beard, and the Check Out Doritos Girl, and of course the Connectile Disfunction ad so you can take care of business. Talk about how far propriety has been streached, these commercials often directly or indirectly deal with SEX, including Snickers. http://youtube.com/watch?v=BGGDLdl4ycM http://youtube.com/superbowl
  18. Time for someone to be educated! Remember that I live in Buffalo. If I drive in a certain direction I can see Canada. I know that the field is longer and wider. I also know about the three downs. I also know the season is over way before the NFLs. I think there were some exhibition games played between the two leagues in the past. Some players who made it big there came over to the NFL, Flutie and Moon. As far as passing vs running, that is hogwash. The pure passing teams never win the Super Bowl. Miami with Marino for one. It takes a mix of plays to be REALLY good. As far as the G&M not covering the NFL, that is fair, I doubt the NYT or the USA Today cover the CFL much, because there is no interest here, but the NFL has interest in CAnada and therefore, in a Canada/US Relations forum, I thought it to be an interesting observation of whatever. Canadian arrogance? As far as non support of Canadian football in Toronto, maybe the NFL would not find support there also. Los Angeles seems to be a large city which had problems supporting a team. Given the nonsupport of the Argos, to move or start a team in Toronto would be risky. As far as an American city having a CFL team, I say great. If the Bills were to move, which might happen someday, I would love to see CFL football here. It would be a great fit. Proximity to Canada, people love football, stadium, affordable. As far as a Grey Cup game being more exciting, I can not comment since I have not seen one to know. I do like the idea of the earlier end to the season given the weather and the open air stadium here.
  19. For those who might like commercials. http://www.giantmag.com/2006/12/tv/by-popu...0s-commercials/ http://www.giantmag.com/2006/12/tv/the-50-...s-of-the-80s/2/ Here are 100 commercials from the 80s.
  20. You are probably right about the owner owning the name, as well as the team, but should they? Owners come and go, and sometimes move their team, but the history of a team is tied to a city, more than an owner. That history is tied to its name. The argonauts name is something you have grown up with. Is it some mythological figure? Kind of like the Canisius, even those who go to the school, do not seem to know what it is. (without doing a google search) On second thought you are right about Snickers and Caddyshack, thanks.
  21. I was just thinking about the issue of the name of football teams. I still think of the Colts as the Baltimore Colts, and it was Indy which should have had to find a new name. The Browns name was grandfathered to Cleveland, but the Cardnals name went to Arizona where there is probably no Cardinals (birds). The Rams should be the LA Rams, not the St. Louis Rams. This leads me to the thought of if Toronto were in the NFL, what would be its name. I suggest not the Argonauts. I get the thought of deep sea divers. I suggest something like the Toronto Exchange. But then they would be nicknamed the Exchanges which would not do. Cardinals and BlueJays names are taken, as well as Black Hawks and Ravens and Seahawks. The name should rhyme with Toronto. The name Toronto is similar to Chicago, both ending in o. The Toronto PolarBears. the Toronto Moose, the Toronto Express. Indian names are politically incorrect. Ah shucks, probably Argonauts is the best fit after all. Just thinking outloud on the keyboard.
  22. The Snickers add...you mean the one that is never to be aired again by Snickers? Sad that is, I thought it funny. The Snickers ads are slightly politically incorrect. Remember the Snickers bar floating in the swimming pool to the Jaws sound, with everyone running for their lives, then someone takes a bite out of it.
  23. And the MVP for ads is Snickers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHkoZ7ngAM0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2pcGABklyw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOSlesmeMMQ
  24. What? Not going there?? Blast the Pope, but Islam off limits? Is not Bin Laden just looking for Islamic relevance in a Western dominated secular world.
