Saw someone I know get killed today, pedestrian hit and run event. Extremely disturbing. I don't know how soldiers and police and other first responders cope on a daily basis.

In my case, I felt some sort responsibility for having helped transport them to their "final destination". Irrational as that may sound, it plagued me for a bit. Once again, throwing that on the table, and chatting about it as such, put in it's proper perspective.

I firmly believe that open discussion of such events, in the proper environment, is a good way to get past the emotions that arise from such events. You don't forget, but you can get past. In my case I was lucky enough to have access to two other friends,lovely young ladies who were a part of what's called the "combat stress team". It's good to avail yourself of the professionals.

I once dropped off a good friend and his highly trained, very friendly German Shepherd dog partner, in a little place called Methar Lam. 10 minutes later I heard the rumble and saw the smoke and dust rise as they hit an IED in their MRAP. Even that tough vehicle wasn't enough to save them. So I have an idea what you are going through.

And mine as well. And especially if you actually witnessed the event, then a talk with a professional is worth while. I speak from experience. Again, sorry for your loss.

One thing he actually did say in the interview was that Americans should pay a little attention to what is going on in the rest of the world. Perhaps if they did, they could get it together to publish a photo of Trudeau's dad and mom, and actually have his mom in the picture.
