  1. Makes perfect sense, bulls are herbivores too.
  2. Yep, grassroots movements - especially those with a little money to spend - are very scary indeed. Run for the hills! LOFL!
  3. There are more white people in Ottawa's slums than Muslims, don't be a doofus about it.
  4. Not even. Maybe theoretically inconvenienced unless he actually received the memo and any suggested discipline for contravening it's content, if that is even suggested in the actual memo. Which he didn't receive.
  5. The documentation for the latter is called, 'The Minority Report.'
  6. Sure, democracy was invented by Israelites and they used the Greek word for it too. No, what I am saying is that the current state of Israel toes the line to Western political values to ensure its continued existence. No random coincidence there.
  7. I would disagree that political discussion doesn't happen in public much, in fact I believe it provides a great deal of news content on any given day, one way or another. But qualify "views." My "views" are generally like most mainstream Canadians and that is firmly liberal whether they vote CPC, LPC or NDP, it is all a form of liberalism. Other than the familiar liberal refrains, other than the fringe and some different cultural views, what other views are there?
  8. The only Jewish majority country in the world subscribes to those values as a condition of its existence. Nothing more. But again, the irony is lost on ya gramps. Keep shaking that hand!
  9. There you go again gramps, right off your rocker. Yes, I demand that you supply studies to validate your nutty appearing opinion. But you lack credibility thus your argument - in form and in content - is rather moot. Just another old man shaking his fist at the clouds, like this guy. The same type that sends the memo is the same type who abhors anti-Semitism. No doubt the irony is completely lost on you. Just as ridiculous as complaints about swastika's in the work place. How dare they! If you are Jewish, it ain't your "superior value system." Or do you read different history books than everyone else?
  10. No, I was putting it out there as a general response to everyone else. And you still miss the point of the OP and vigourously scrape the bottom of the barrel searching for relevant factoids. As predicted.
  11. No, you see, I was taking your absurd statement and building on it. You know, keeping the comedy flowing.
  12. Really? Can you cite some sort of study or publication that backs your point? You seem very self-assured so it is likely because you have definitive evidence on hand right?
  13. No, bending is not the point. Respect for others is, especially in a diverse workplace, wouldn't you agree?
  14. Well firstly, unless you have some key studies or some other informative data, people learning about other cultures is a good thing. That is my opinion which cancels yours out. Secondly, mulitculturalism has worked pretty good so far and is inclusive of all cultures, even the backward ones that say it is "suicidal." That's just my opinion, but seeing that you can't cite anything coherent to back up your position, a draw is as good as a win. The reason that we have accomodating policies and cross cultural training is because everyone isn't the same and simple respect of differences is an easy management policy that avoids conflict and keeps workers focused on the work. In other words, and according to your logic, if you don't like it you should be looking for another country. Why would anyone's practices at work cause conflict? I know people who have been told not to put on so much perfume and others told to bathe more frequently. It isn't just religious practices that cause conflict.
  15. No they are not linked as evidenced by the lack of any Christmas type memo that you seek. They are separate issues that involve the tolerance of religious beliefs in the work place, but are not predisposed or dependent on each other in any way whatsoever, except for the dilemna that arises out of your thinking that it they should be linked. Thus it appears that all you are looking for is justification for your foolish false dichotomy or you have difficulty staying on topic and feel a need to involve others to help solve your mental problems.
  16. You appear to equate 'accomodation' with some sort of replacement of your own cultural values, which then makes your ignorance understandable and forgiveable. The memo, however, is meant for broad audience as a nice-to-know so there isn't any inadvertant offensiveness that will require more resources to resolve. It is an easy management policy to avoid conflict and tie up resources. "What's next" coming from your posture isn't really relevant. However, it is interesting to learn and appreciate other cultures, don't you think?
  17. Yep. And I am fairly certain that the Government of Ontario still offers cross-cultural sensitivity training to inform people of all kinds of different cultural traits since the workplace is changing significantly. More information about other cultures, some see it as a bad thing. Go figure.
  18. It's a "continuum?" Hmmmm... well, since you are sure of this, can you provide some defined linkages between the limited controversy at a few Toronto schools to a memo sent to all Ontario government workers? You know, since you see it so clearly. Thanks!
  19. Can you cite some statistics please? I for one would like to see this over-representedness first hand. I'll give you some time to come up with the data.
  20. I do! The entire country was in mourning for a very long time. Everyone wore black, the funerary bunting was displayed from all balconies from Nepean to Stittsville. There was much hang wringing, gashing of teeth, broken hearts and a questioning of our deepest national values. Oh, woe, what a terrible time when "Canada" was shunned and all of "Canada" was in a spiral of grief at the indignancy over it all! God I remember it well, don't I AW?
  21. So the two things are necessarily linked? In your mind I mean... just askin'
  22. Why "necessarily?" Nonviolent Revolution (wiki)
  23. Except your lifestyle was likely built with union greed. Damn those unionized electricians, plumbers and framers!
  24. The anguish we experience with our terrible first world conditions. Nobody understands.
