  1. Argus: The article said billionaire John Kerry donated nothing of his own. You then asked how much Cheney donated. "According to Kerry's crewman Michael Madeiros, Kerry had an agreement with him to turn the boat in and onto the beach if fired upon. Each of the three boats involved in the operation was involved in the agreement." O'Neill writes that one crewman even recalls a discussion of probable medals. Doug Reese, a pro Kerry Army veteran, recounted what happened that day to O'Neill, "Far from being alone, the boats were loaded with many soldiers commanded by Reese and two other advisors. When fired at, Reese's boat--not Kerry's--was the first to beach in the ambush zone. Then Reese and other troops and advisors (not Kerry) disembarked, killing a number of Viet Cong and capturing a number of weapons. None of the participants from Reese's boat received Silver Stars. O'Neill continues: "Kerry's boat moved slightly downstream and was struck by a rocket-propelled grenade. . . .A young Viet Cong in a loincloth popped out of a hole, clutching a grenade launcher, which may or may not have been loaded. . . Tom Belodeau, a forward gunner, shot the Viet Cong with an M-60 machine gun in the leg as he fled. . . . Kerry and Medeiros (who had many troops in their boat) took off, perhaps with others, and followed the young Viet Cong and shot him in the back, behind a lean to." O'Neill concludes "Whether Kerry's dispatching of a fleeing, wounded, armed or unarmed teenage enemy was in accordance with the customs of war, it is very clear that many Vietnam veterans and most Swiftees do not consider this action to be the stuff of which medals of any kind are awarded; nor would it even be a good story if told in the cold details of reality. There is no indication that Kerry ever reported that the Viet Cong was wounded and fleeing when dispatched. Likewise, the citation simply ignores the presence of the soldiers and advisors who actually 'captured the enemy weapons' and routed the Viet Cong. . . . [and] that Kerry attacked a 'numerically superior force in the face of intense fire' is simply false. There was little or no fire after Kerry followed the plan. . . . The lone, wounded, fleeing young Viet Cong in a loincloth was hardly a force superior to the heavily armed Swift Boat and its crew and the soldiers carried aboard." And More: George Bates, an officer in Coastal Division 11, participated in numerous operations with Kerry. In UNFIT FOR COMMAND, Bates recalls a particular patrol with Kerry on the Song Bo De River. He is still "haunted" by the incident: With Kerry in the lead, the boats approached a small hamlet with three or four grass huts. Pigs and chickens were milling around peacefully. As the boats drew closer, the villagers fled. There were no political symbols or flags in evidence in the tiny village. It was obvious to Bates that existing policies, decency, and good sense required the boats to simply move on. Instead, Kerry beached his boat directly in the small settlement. Upon his command, the numerous small animals were slaughtered by heavy-caliber machine guns. Acting more like a pirate than a naval officer, Kerry disembarked and ran around with a Zippo lighter, burning up the entire hamlet. Bates has never forgotten Kerry's actions. Dr. Louis Letson, version matches with William Schachte's account: I have a very clear memory of an incident which occurred while I was the Medical Officer at Naval Support Facility, Cam Ranh Bay. John Kerry was a (jg), the OinC or skipper of a Swift boat, newly arrived in Vietnam. On the night of December 2, he was on patrol north of Cam Ranh, up near Nha Trang area. The next day he came to sick bay, the medical facility, for treatment of a wound that had occurred that night. The story he told was different from what his crewmen had to say about that night. According to Kerry, they had been engaged in a fire fight, receiving small arms fire from on shore. He said that his injury resulted from this enemy action. Some of his crew confided that they did not receive any fire from shore, but that Kerry had fired a mortar round at close range to some rocks on shore. The crewman thought that the injury was caused by a fragment ricocheting from that mortar round when it struck the rocks. That seemed to fit the injury which I treated. What I saw was a small piece of metal sticking very superficially in the skin of Kerry's arm. The metal fragment measured about 1 cm. in length and was about 2 or 3 mm in diameter. It certainly did not look like a round from a rifle. I simply removed the piece of metal by lifting it out of the skin with forceps. I doubt that it penetrated more than 3 or 4 mm. It did not require probing to find it, did not require any anesthesia to remove it, and did not require any sutures to close the wound. The wound was covered with a bandaid. Not [sic] other injuries were reported and I do not recall that there was any reported damage to the boat. The following morning, John Kerry arrived at the office of Coastal Division 14 Commander Grant Hibbard to apply for a Purple Heart. Having already been informed by Schachte that Kerry's injury was self-inflicted rather than the result of hostile fire, Commander Hibbard told him to "forget it." Hibbard recently said of Kerry's minor scratch, "I’ve seen worse injuries from a rose thorn." One could get worse injuries from stepping on a broken beer bottle, but the hate-filled ultra-left will never admit that. But apparently some still believe that Kerry was the most decorated warrior for the least amount of time served in US military history. After Kerry's college deferments expired, he asked the draft board if he could serve time in Paris, doing research. The board said no. Knowing he was about to be drafted, he enlisted. Kerry asked to serve on the Swift boats, because at the time, swift boats were not used in combat. However, before Kerry could complete his duty, the Swift boats were assigned to combat duty, and he was thus sent to Vietnam. Senator Kerry wrote this in 1986: "When I signed up for the Swift boats, they had very little to do with the war. "I didn't really want to get involved in the war." Retired Colonel Ed Morrisey, who swore then-Lieutenant Bush into the Air National Guard: Morrisey says in the six years the President served he never failed to meet participation point requirements. "Bush averaged 176 per year. In no year did he have less that 50," says Morrisey. "He was rated by his commander, Col. Maurice Udell in the top 5 of his pilots." One of the criticisms leveled at the President is that he sought guard service to keep him from serving in Vietnam. Morrisey says, "not so." "The Air Force, in their ultimate wisdom, assembled a group of 102's and took them to Southeast Asia. Bush volunteered to go. But he needed to have 500 [flight] hours, but he only had just over 300 hours so he wasn't eligible to go,” Morrisey recalls. Despite that, Lieutenant Bush stayed busy. "He flew in active air defense missions, training missions. Day, night, regardless of inclement weather," Morrisey says. December 1967: Kerry begins his first tour of duty, serving on the guided-missile frigate USS Gridley. February 1968: With Kerry aboard, the Gridley sails into war to patrol the coast of Vietnam. He never came into contact with the enemy during this time. To be gracious, that's 8 months total, 4 of which were relatively uneventful, and only one 4-month tour was as a commander of a boat. (And that tour was ended abruptly when Kerry abandoned his command after having received 3 minor injuries.) MotherJones? Whatsa matter? Couldn't find anything on the World Socialist Web Site (WSWS)? Do you even know what an affidavat is? The rest of your remarks are lies and sound like something you pulled from Michael Moore's site. Only 3 of John Kerry's 23 fellow Swift boat commanders supported Kerry's candidacy. I suppose the other 20 were all neocons. Touch the photo to see Kerry's "Band of Brothers"
  2. Even damn Costco prices are lower in Washington State than here in BC! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This a good example of why a high CDN dollar is not necessarily good. If the CDN dollar was at $0.75, Lotus likely would not slip across the border; the $4 he/she saves would be wiped out, or virtually wiped out. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You mean Costco would lower the price of my Gatorade if the CDN dollar dropped? Why the hell would they do that? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You said you pay $14.59 US (about $18 CDN) for a case of Gatorade. If the CDN dollar was lower, the exchange rate would be greater and you would pay more than $18 CDN; thus possibly convincing you to buy from a Canadian retailer.
  3. They are not covered by Kyoto. China and India are exempted from limits on greenhouse gases. Read the damn thing.
  4. Even if this is true, isn't it how one is faring compared to the Jonses that counts? I drive & shop in the U.S. regularly, I've got a NEXUS pass. And what I have found is that today just about everything in the under $100 category is cheaper there. Even the damn Costco prices are lower in Washington State than here in BC! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This a good example of why a high CDN dollar is not necessarily good. Mirror seemed to think that is was a "contest" to see who had the highest dollar between the US and Canada, but as Lotus stated (and I don't blame him/her; I'd do the same thing - one goes for the best price they can), you go to get the best deal wherever you can. If the CDN dollar was at $0.75, Lotus likely would not slip across the border; the $4 he/she saves would be wiped out, or virtually wiped out. Ergo, Lotus would probably be spending his/her dough on a Canadian retailer, instead of a US retailer. Just thought I'd point that out, even though I like a high CDN dollar because 3 of my suppliers (2 or which are major suppliers) are from the US...
  5. , of that there is no doubt. There are still a lot of great people there, but the overall values of the nation have gone in the toilet. Instead of god, freedom or equality, they generally worship the Golden Calf, 'bling', and Mammon. Instead of 'democracy and fairness', they worship guns, death and 'sue or screw thy neighbour' at the earliest possible opportunity. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think Theloniusfleabag posts as Mopaul at the Democratic Underground Message Board (DUMB): what the f*ck america? what the f*ck? The far left is pure comedy gold.
  6. eureka: China and India are not covered by Kyoto.
  7. I'm not a small guy (5'11", 190 lbs), but then again, I am not a huge guy. There was about 15 or 20 of them. I was hoping that they would try something physical (and no, I did not have my gun with me). Perhaps even the left's favorite tactic; the pie in the face of anyone they disagree with (Ralph Klein, David Horowitz, William Kristol, and Ann Coulter). Perhaps it was my swagger. Maybe they sensed how much I loathe the CBC news. And as I posted on this thread earlier, their posts on cbcunlocked.com proved beyond a shadow of a doubt their true colors; their mindset! I hope they are locked out until after the election. For once we might have a "somewhat fair election".
  8. The leftwing/socialist/welfare mantra: Give me, give me, give me. Trudeau; a truly loathsome Prime Minister Ralph Klein is obviously not progressive; he lacks that liberal "compassion". Those greedy hard-working capitalists. They're destroying the enviroment! And then you were unable to fund Canada's gun registry, Kyoto junk science, and taxpayer-funded, govt-run, unionized govt-worker indoctrination centres, unlimited taxpayer-funded abortions, etc. [...] Ralphie doeesn't seem to understand that to encourage entreprenuerialship, you must take from the entreprenuer and give to the unproductive. That increases entreprenuership....in the Bizarro World of leftist/socialist land. Ralph Klein warns socialist sh*t-sucking anal leeches to back off
  9. I Miss Reagan: I'm not sure if I agree with this. Lorne Calvert has expanded govt by 25% since he took over in 2001; this despite that Sask's population has decreased since 2001. Indeed, if not for the $700 million handout by the feds, Sask would be nearly $500 million in the hole for this year. Until the NDP quits being so anti-business (Sask has the highest corporate tax rates in Canada), and starts developing Sask's vast resources, it will continue to be a have-not province. Saskatchewan's personal tax rate starts at 11%!! Saskatchewan is filthy rich in resources (oil, potash, uranium, coal, diamonds, lumber) but it has been governed mostly by the NDP whose obsession is having the lowest rates for a package of basic phone, power, natural gas, and vehicle insurance services. Why? Because their socialist policies have made most in the province poor and much of the public needs those "lowest utility rates in Canada" to survive. Calvert's govt brags that Sask's "package of four" is a hair less than Alberta's. Yay!! Sask residents save about $10 or $20 per month...meanwhile their wages are about 2/3 or 3/4 of the typical Albertan. But then again, no one ever accused the NDP of thinking big. And that is why Sask continues to have a brain drain to Alberta.
  10. GlobeHow about that, it happened sooner than I thought. Canada is not only now irrelevant in the world political arena but is now set on it's way to economic irrelevance. Canada needs to realize that it doesn't have the luxury of taxing away it's wealth if it wants to be competitive. Already Ontario is on the path to have-not status because if it's Liberal economics. On the other hand B.C. seems to be figuring it out by promising tax cuts! Finally a surplus after 10 years of NDP destruction. Even Saskatchewan's NDP's have shown fiscal responsibility. Unfortunately the socialist, more populous, East runs this country and will eventually run it into the ground. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think the Americans are unreasonable. Just because Canada's Liberal Party refers to Americans as morons, bastards, and refers to the coalition as "the coalition of idiots"; just because Carolyn Parrish went on Canada's state-run, taxpayer-funded, Soviet-style TV station and stomped on a George Bush doll with her boots, then gleefully stabbed the Bush doll in the head like an out-of-control deranged pyschopath on meth. What's the big deal? All classy govts do this to their neighbor and biggest trading partner. Dumb ungrateful Americans. They're just not as progressive as our governing Liberal Party.
  11. George Galloway says Canada is complicit in Iraq war After being humiliated by Christopher Hitchens, Galloway skulks into Mississauga with his tail between his legs and proclaims: Whatsa matter Galloway? You upset that Saddam paid you less than he paid Paul Martin and the Chretien family? Canadian Forces are supposed to kill massmurdering head-chopping Islamofascists? The nerve of General Hillier! Words cannot describe the contempt I have for Galloway and his fellow "progressives" who support the mass murder of the Iraqis who are trying to build a democracy.
  12. Let me guess; you participate in another online forum, where you use the nickname "THE PUBLIC"???? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Very funny. However, aren't you the least bit curious as to why Kerry refuses to release all his military records. He based his entire campaign on his 4 month tour of Vietnam; he vowed to release his military records after Bush did; yet when Bush released his military records, Kerry stonewalled. Are you not the least bit curious as to what he is hiding? There are rumors. Wouldn't you like to know if they are true?
  13. Argus: Dick Cheney is a billionaire? Who told you that? MediaMatters.org? *snicker* He shot a fleeing teenage boy in the back. He didn't spend even one hour in the hospital while the doctors used tweezers to get rice out of his ass because he threw a grenade at a rice paddy. Kerry used his father's connections to get on the Swift Boats, believing it would be one of the safest assignments in Vietnam. Two weeks into Kerry's Swift Boat assignment, they decided to use the boats on the Mekong river. Compare that to President Bush who volunteered to go to Vietnam, but sadly lacked the amount of air hours to do so. Kerry abandoned his mates 4 months into a 12 month tour; he went back to the US and accused his mates of committing atrocities; he fled when one of the Swift Boats was attacked, only coming back when things were safe; he went to Paris to meet the Vietcong during the war (he probably should have been executed for that); and John Kerry's picture proudly hangs in the Vietnamese War Museum as a testament to his helping the Vietcong. A typical traiterous liberal - they almost always take the side of the enemy. All have proven to be liars? What a pile of crap. The fact is that the Kerry campaign admitted that: 1) Kerry was "mistaken" when he said he was in Cambodia on Christmas Eve 1968 on that sooper seekrit mission at the behest of Richard Nixon (who wasn't even president), and... 2) One of Kerry's Purple Hearts "might" have come from a self-inflicted wound (rice in the ass when he blew up that Evil Rice Paddy). Anyone to the right of Joseph Stalin is a "vile Republican wacko" in Argus' world. I find it telling that he is silent about the wackos who control the Democrat Party; Howard Dean, John Kerry, John Edwards, Al Sharpton, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, Al Gore, Michael Moore, Katherine McKinney, etc etc. It's a all-you-can-eat buffet of moonbats. Bush had nothing to do with the SBVFT. But yes, it was (shockingly!) a Repulbican donor who financed those ads, not a Democrat. Who'd a thunk it? Indeed, I remember Bush holding that press conference at his ranch - where the liberal media was whining about the SBVFT, and Max Cleland had hiliariously camped outside Bush's ranch (a la Mother Sheehan) - and Bush saying he wanted all 527 ads to stop. I had to laugh at the crying by Cleland and the liberal press. They greatly outspent the Republicans on 527 ads, but then started whining when the Swifites ads started to hit the airwaves and had a tremendous impact on the public. It's quite an achievement to have 264 out of 270 Swift Boat mates hate your (Kerry's) guts after a mere 4 months. 264 of 270 of the SBVFT are utter filth!! Well, at least one person - Argus - believes Dan Rather. Once again, the radical far-left shows its true colors. Damn those morons who voted for Bush. They're so stoopid. Why didn't they listen to the enlightened Argus?
  14. China and India - two of the fastest growing countries in the world - weren't covered by Kyoto. Just another example of this flawed accord.
  15. Mirror: Talk about an understatement. I just pray that the CBC is still on strike when the election happens. Perhaps this country can then have a fair election. Btw, I taunted the CBC strikers twice this week. I walked right through them (they're picketing downtown in front of their station) and said, "Pravda locked out? Good!" I got called an asshole by a couple of them (that made my day! ) but none of them had the guts to do anything more than that.
  16. Black Dog: That's rich, coming from you who linked to the radical MediaMatters and Pandagon (which has gone to shit since Ezra Klein - who was a reasonable liberal - left Pandagon). I'n m surprised you didn't link to Oliver Willis.
  17. Mirror is no longer on the forum, so I will direct my comments to you. I would not like guns banned because I know that the bad guys would not turn in their guns. I have grandparents that live on an isolated farm and I am glad that Grandpa has guns for protection. Don't you remember what happened when the UK banned handguns? Their robbery and break-in rate went up 60% because (surprise!) the bad guys never turned in their guns. Now their citizens are disarmed and are at the mercy of the bad guys who are not so leery of breaking into homes - unlike the US where the bad guys are leery of breaking into homes for fear of not knowing what the homeowner has for protection. Indeed many of their shooting incidents come from people protecting their home. When a govt disarms its population - be aware. One of the first things Hitler did was disarm the German citizenry.
  18. Jean Chretien was a disgrace and an embarrassment as a Prime Minister. God (sorry for the cuss word, liberals) knows, Canadians cringed every time this marble-mouthed buffoon opened his mouth. This was a man (I use the term loosely) who was greedily taking in millions of dollars of blood money from Saddam Hussein. This is a "man" who refused to enforce the broken ceasefire or the 16 broken UN resolutions; a "man" who ignored the Al Qaeda/Saddam ties while greedily accepting Saddam's millions off the back of the bloodied Iraqi citizens; a "man" who looked the other way while Saddam was sending $25,000 cheques to teh families of displaced Arab homicide bombers; a "man" who looked the other way while his benefactor was shooting at US and UK airplanes on a near daily basis; a "man" who looked the other way while the President of his leading trading partner was almost assassianted by Saddam Hussein, and a "amn" who looked the other way while Saddam was allowing Al Qaeda to stay at the Salman Pak terrorist training camp. About the only good thing I can say about that slimy good-for-nothing weasel is that he didn't roll back the progressive GST back to the regressive FST. When Mulroney scapped the horrid FST (a hidden tax that started at 9% and quickly rose to 13.5%), my prices went down about 2% and that is good for my customers - the people that keep me in business. Additionally, businesses get to use the GST paid as a credit towards the GST they pay; ergo, it helps free up money for businesses. And that is a good thing. Businesses create jobs. I've never heard of too many people making $20 to $25 thousand a year creating jobs.
  19. Awwww, perhaps you would be more comfortable in the US forum where you can bash President Bush for every single evil in this world. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LOL, well if the shoe fits. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, you can wear it.
  20. Try these guys: http://www.ucsusa.org or these folks: http://yosemite.epa.gov/oar/globalwarming....tent/index.html how about here: http://www.nrdc.org/globalWarming/default.asp And for us Cannucks: http://www.davidsuzuki.org/climate_change/..._ecosystems.asp I think you might have bought into ExxonMobile myths and disinformation. You can't fight the science though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh, the radical David Suzuki. Yay.
  21. Is Cartman again demanding that someone who doesn't agree with his radical leftist views be "punted"? Like I have said numerous times. the far left is frightening. They are not interested in opposing views at all. No wonder so many of them support Saddam Hussein.
  22. Awwww, perhaps you would be more comfortable in the US forum where you can bash President Bush for every single evil in this world.
  23. New Zealand pulled the plug on the farcical Kyoto, too.
  24. Thank goodness this guy is banned. His over the top rhetoric was outrageous. A 10% US unemployment rate?! Their economy is fricking smoking. Plus, he had a bad habit of posting entire long-winded articles to supposedly prove his point. His MO seemed to be, if I can't baffle them with facts, I will baffle them with long-winded BS articles that bores them to tears. Buh bye Mirror. You loved to link to Michael Moore; enjoy your stay at michealmoore.com, moveon.org, commondreams.org, etc.
  25. Classic class warfare. Classic race-baiting. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would be proud of you.
