According to a report in Montreal Gazette, at least $7 million in contracts awarded through the Space Agency and approved by beleaguered former public works minister Alfonso Gagliano haven't been supported by the required documentation. Liberal corruption

Federal Regional Polling - Ontario
Kliege replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
There is a lot of talk recently about the decline of Liberal support and the rise of Conservative support in Ontario. Political pundits are speculating on the reasons for this and most have settled on the idea that Liberal Premier Dalton McGuinty's budget is the most likely culprit. They of course are wrong and like most political pundits, will eschew the simplist reason in favour of the their own theories so as to beguile the rubes into thinking they know something about Canadian politics that is worth reading. The real reason for the shift in support away from the Liberals to the Conservatives is the same reason Ontario's support has always shifted one way or the other. Ontario voters are contrarians when it comes to provincial and federal politics. This means that if a liberal government is in place on the federal level, Ontarians will typically support a conservative government on the provincial level. In similar fashion, if the province has a liberal government, the voters will favour a conservative federal candidate. The evidence bears this out. By examining this list of Canadian Prime Ministers and this list of Ontario Premiers you can see that whenever one side has held power on the federal level, it has been balanced by the opposite side holding power on the provincial level. During the long Liberal reign from 1935-1984, Ontario had a Conservative Premier from 1943-1985. This was followed by a reversal when Mulroney's conservatives held power in Ottawa and the NDP and Liberals shared power in Toronto during the same time period. Similarly, Chretien's reign was balanced by Harris. In fact, you'll note that since the start of the 20th century, the federal liberals have held office for 73 years and the provincial conservatives for 75 years. This is not merely a coincidence but is indicative of Ontario voter's desire to balance the political equation. This means that since Ontario voters made the choice last fall to put a Liberal government in power, their support on the federal level has shifted and will continue to shift in favour of the federal Conservative Party for that very basic reason. It's as simple as that and anyone who tries to dig for deeper meaning is just doing so in order to blow smoke up your ass. Just a little fact I thouht you should know. -
Clearly the wheels are falling off the Liberal campaign. Yesterday, Paul Martin sent out ministerial stalkers Judy Sgro and John McCallum to heckle Stephen Harper at campaign stops. And we thought Team Martin could not go any lower than this silly and demeaning display. How wrong we were. Today, the Liberals sent out a rent-a-mob to scream and yell outside our Toronto Board of Trade campaign stop. (We half expected Paul Martin to show up with a cream pie, but alas, no... .) In any event, Stephen Harper apologised to the crowd for the disturbance, and said "I don't have any control over where the Liberal Cabinet holds their meetings." What additional silly tricks do they have in mind? Soaping windows? Ringing the doorbell and running away?

I will be voting and rooting for the Conservative Party 100% The Liberals should lose this election.

Andre Bachand riding is certain to go to the Bloc so anything he says means nothing anymore.

Actually I would love to see more of it for some more laughs. Imagine Annie, Ralph and Geg Alock doing this stuff. It would just prove that they are in meltdown and it would be a good laugh each time it happened

Forecast: David Herle will be gone by weekend
Kliege replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If they get rid of him then Martin will be saying to everyone that he is in some really deep shit. No on is talking about Martin being out of the country this weekend and part of Next week for the D-day events and G-8 meetings. With Martin out of the country for a couple of days what effect will it have on the campiagn? -

Maple do you work for SES? -
This is excellent. Trying to harass your opponent on his own turf is a loser's strategy. The last time I saw something like this was when Tony Clement tried to crash one of Harper's events somewhere. They are getting desperate..really desperate.

Federal Opinion Polls - Canadawide

I don't understand SES' nightly tracking. Yesterday, it published these results: Liberals - 35% Conservatives - 25% NDP - 22% Bloc - 13% Green - 5% Today, it publishes these results: Liberals -- 37% (-4%) Conservatives -- 29% (+1) NDP -- 19% (+1) Bloc -- 11% (0) Green -- 5% (+2) Would it be wrong for me to think that the +/- changes should show: Liberal: +3 CPC: + 4 NDP: -3 BQ: -2 Green: 0 Regardless SEC numbers are all over the map and unreliable in my opinion. The voting public doesn't change intentions so rapidly and overnight. Something is going on at SEC and I don't think its kosher -

It very clear now that the CPC has the big mo in this election, it seems to be building up week by week. The debates will be central to any victory. -

After Paul Martin and his gangsters ran some very powerful Liberals out of power, I have begun to wonder if they are set to strike back at the end of this election. The Liberal civil war is still raging, with infighting and calls for resignations after only the 1st week. The people making these statements are not stupid; they are playing right into the media. The plan now may be to totally self-destruct this election right on top of Paul Martin's head. Chretien Liberals are pissed at Paul Martin and know that a total loss of power would not only humiliate the former Finance Minister, it will also push him out of power within the Liberal Party. By the end of next week will we hear subtle calls for Paul Martin's head? Liberals that have been publicly humiliated and driven from power may be the final trump card that topples Paul Martin's hand. They can take their grassroots supporters and help their friends while ensuring that grassroots base does not help Paul Martin's puppets in key areas like BC and Ontario. If they do it right, Paul Martin takes the fall for ADSCAM, the Liberal loss etc while they look like the heroes, rebuilding their party from the ashes. I doubt we, or Paul Martin, has heard the last from Jean, Allen, Brian, Herb, Sheila or John. -
This is not an american election and the Liberals, things don't work like that up here.

Liberal BC "Star" Candidate to Resign?
Kliege replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If this is true, it confirms what everyone already knows right now. That the Liberal campaign is sinking in quicksand and looks to be sinking fast. If that candidate (either an ex-b.c premier or a party chairmen) resigned if would tell the whole nation what Paul Martin is really all about -

Kliege replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
for the most part the regional numbers in SES and in Ipsos-Reid are not that far apart except in BC, where the Ipsos numbers seem absurd. The EKOS poll had Cons. 37, NDP 30, Libs. 29 in B....something isn't right in that province. I have a feeling that someones numbers are being over polled and i think its the Liberals Regional numbers -

Maple: SES just released the long awaited regional breakdown based on the 5 day poll of 1,000 May 26-30. They are as follows: Atlantic Libs. 41% Cons. 30% NDP 26% Green 2% Quebec BQ 49% Libs. 30%( this is what is given the Liberals a higher poll then in Ipos) Cons. 13% NDP 5% Green 3% Ontario Libs. 39% Cons. 32% NDP 25% Green 3% Man/Sask Libs. 41% This seems strange Cons. 35% NDP 23% Green 1% Alberta Cons. 53% ( reason why the CPC as loss % in overall poll) Libs. 31% NDP 11% Green 5% BC Libs. 34% ( Now this is odd and im not believeing it, The race out in B.C is going to be between the NDP and CPC, the Liberals just have to much baggage with Campbell and the appointed candidates) Cons. 29% NDP 29% Green 8% Overall I think think what is proping up the Liberals and the NDP is the race in British Columbia. -

No not really because its so concetrated that means they are in the running for less seats then the CPC. Ontario most NDP support is located in Toronto and Parts of the North, Windsor and Hamilton. The rest of the province they pretty much a third party protest vote. -

I have and the poll that SEC had Friday seems to reflect what the Ipos had on Monday. But seriously there is no way that the NDP or the CPC are in a dead heat and that will present itself on election when the CPC gets over 100 seats and the NDP 25 -

I doubt that with a leader Wacko Jacko. The race is between the Liberals and CPC with the NDP way back. Where are the regional numbers in the SEC poll?
