  1. No. There are some real barneys in Lethbridge
  2. Doctors work damn hard, under stressfull conditions. My uncle is a plain jane family doctor, he does rounds at a hospital from 5-8am, then runs his practice till 7pm, 6 days a week, with an extra couple hours in the hospital Sunday. Dealing with sick people I think is the shittiest circumstance other than dealing with politicians ( ). Don't cry too loud, they deserve it. Do you want to simply discount their opinions? They are on the front lines, and ask any good businessman/woman; listening to the people dealing directly with the action part of any business is good practice. Although thats a great suggestion to have the nurses more involved.
  3. So the solution = only white, hispanic, black males can drive? I am unsure if these comments are meant in jest, or seriousness.
  4. The end game is defined by the limited resources on this planet. More efficient use of these resources will only prolong the day of reckoning. Growth is vital due to the trend towards labour efficiency. Bigger machines in the manufacturing sector lead to lower labour percentages to achieve a given level of productivity. People then shift to service jobs, new jobs based on innovation and technology. (hi-tech businesses are very inefficient for our resources by the way, only pushing forward consumption) Failure to grow ends in a snowball effect that touches all spheres of the economy. A bad thing.
  5. Man am I sick of all this petty poking. Every thread has it these days..... And what will seperation accomplish? Quebec will get raped economically, and Alberta will continue on basically the same. The lives of the average Albertan will be more or less the same, except for a smidge more beaurocracy .
  6. Remember this man has little real power. He is not nearly in so difficult a position as Harper and Martin. Any smart move he makes is just gravy, and any move he misses is just overshadowed by the big boys. He could be great, but as far as my opinion goes, he hasn't proved anything yet. Extremely likeable guy though; far more than the others.
  7. No, what would be ideal is the government trying to give accurate estimates of revenue.
  8. I live in a predominantly asian neighborhood, does that mean I should learn Mandarin, and Japanese, and....whatever other laungauges they speak? I think understanding and empathizing with others is good, but where do you draw the line? I'm not trying to be a jerk, but exactly what is this distinct culture everyone speaks of? I've been to Quebec, and frequently go to French neighborhoods in my home city, and have yet to identify this culture.
  9. Slap them with a large fine, and supervise reforms, but shutting them down is not the answer. Especially with our crumbling highway/road infrastructure.
  10. I'll say this much. My grandma is pissed that she can't watch coronation street right now, and they were covering the world track games pretty well. Even as leftist as their news coverage is, I still miss it. I find its still the best TV news in Canada. Its good to get the opposing sides to stories too.
  11. Banning these words from the monikers accomplishes nothing. Besides, I don't want to learn a whole new list of names to ignore:)
  12. Of course they did. It was a creation of the Mulroney government. It was wrong, and as a true conservative, I'm able to admit it. However, I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. It's been kept in existence by the liberal government, who promised to do away with it. So there's plenty of blame to go around. It looks as though, the only way to get rid of it, is to elect a conservative government, because both the liberals and NDP are in love with the tax. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why exactly do you say its wrong? If they didn't do that, where would the extra revenue come from?
  13. There are those bad egg cops; I've had personal experiences and many of my friends have also with the small town and city cops. By and large though, our force is pretty good I think. Remember the things these guys are up against, and understand they are humans. Its my experience that these small time cops with attitudes can be curbed by a vocal township.
  14. The really sad thing is that a lot of Canadians see it that way. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A few years ago when I was too young to vote, I asked my some of my family and freinds who they were voting for and why; thats EXACTLY what some of them said. I shed a single glistening tear....
  15. I'll agree, no bannage. Just tell him to stop posting "keep harper, we liberals like him" every second post.
  16. I think of all the political events of the past year or so, and this one surprises the most. Truly an enlightened act, although a shame the rest of his politician buddies don't share the sentiment. It all rests on the new palestinian government. If they can curb the militants, it won't be a complete disaster. I shudder to think what the other result will be....
  17. I think they kinda picked the fight actually. Poor warlord just wanted his ring back. He was just trying to get rid of those damn arrogant elves, with their "most beautiful race" propoganda.
  18. Back on topic.... If Alberta seperates, and the albertan federal government wants cheap gas from thier oil fields, do you think that the companies who can sell it for $60 a barrell in the open market will want to sell it close to home for less? Likely, no. Then the oil producers themselves will want their own country, and seperate from Alberta!! They'd probably be better off taxing the high gas sales. This still leaves albertans with market prices. And what province is paying a dollar more (per liter I guess you were referring to) than other provinces? I think the desire to seperate is more based on alienation (although I have no desire to seperate so that is purely speculation)
  19. **gets out binocs, looks south and sees a mammoth amount of history repeating, scratches his head about what exactly Mr. Mind was referring to....**
  20. Placation?
  21. How effective however, I have my doubts. I don't take the position very seriously, and thus I doubt Quebecers would either. It'll just be seen as a token appointment, and fuel to the "gimme more" philosophy.
  22. I'd just like to thank Mr. Canuck; I posted this thread on my football teams forum, and we love it! Keep them coming.
  23. Does this lady really have the support of her constituents?? If she was my rep, I'd be canvassing the neighborhood to ensure no re-election occured. Shes a joke, and as such can't represent her constituents like she should.
  24. I guess that depends if you think that the reason the US doesn't like you is justified. Human rights violations, and letting your people starve should come before ak rifles. I'll bet if they spent that 25% on improving its citizen's lives, America wouldn't be so pissy. And N. Korea doesn't have oil......
