if they want to achieve justice and peace, they need to approach their internal conflicts differently.

there are many issues at hand here. some things are not simply right or wrong, however, there are some issues which, ie; the illegal settlements which continue to increase. the settlements are wrong. if you disagree with that, go ahead and debate it. all i am cheerleading is justice. is there something wrong with that? what is so wrong when i say we should follow international law? when i see obvious mistakes in describing this conflict, like, for example: "israel unleashed their military because of hamas' rocket attacks" that statement is simply wrong. anyone who has followed and studied this conflict, knows that hamas had not fired any rockets until israel attacked and killed 8 of their members. why aren't we talking about the truth and instead, why are we tippy toeing around the truth and sharing misinformation, exaggerations and lies? one way to resolve a conflict is to be honest about what is really happening instead of spinning the issue. do you agree or disagree with this? i'm not partial to any group. i'm only partial to justice. it just happens that, in this conflict, the palestinians are the ones experiencing injustice. you sound like DoP or Dancer. shame on you. you were doing so well until that comment. can you give me an example of me cheerleading 'terrorists'? again, i have denounced any illegal activity, including terrorist activities by palestinians. i've done nothing but share the truth and try to correct those who have not. if someone says suicide attacks that kill civilians, are wrong, i would not disagree with them and would support their comment without hesitation. i have criticized terrorism and i will continue to do so. on this board, i have not seen anyone who has condoned terrorist attacks. have you? if i ever do, i will speak out. on the other hand, i have seen, time and time again, people condoning israel's attacks on civilians which has left thousands dead. many of them women and children. excuse my language, but, no shit. i'm all for non-violent actions. perhaps you are getting me mixed up with someone else because all i want to see is no violence. what i want you to do is to challenge yourself and actually read what i have to say. next time you see me "support terrorism" or "support violence", please quote me and call me on it. cool? so how about my challenge to you? your accusations and claims about me and my approach to this debate are empty without proof. all you need to do is quote me on what you're accusing me of doing. otherwise, i would appreciate if you would stop with the defamation.

i agree. it would be great if canada did not pick a side and just pointed to the geneva convention and international law when they're looked at for a response. unfortunately, contrary to our past policies, the harper government has clearly picked a side. i'm quite certain that if the western countries did not give political and/or economic support ($3billion a year from the U.S.) to israel, then a solution would come sooner.

the palestinians, for the most part, are the victims in this conflict. so i'm not going to sit here and follow every criticism of israel's actions with something bad that the palestinians have done. i don't see this conflict as a 50/50 situation. my comments about religious/cultural extremism was more about the world in general. the problem here is that our governments have picked a side and the only way for our government to approach this conflict justly and fairly, is for us to say something. so i am saying something.

you are right about me being selective but you are wrong about me being "dishonest". there is a reason for me being selective; no one disputes that hamas has engaged in illegal activities such as suicide attacks and rocket attacks. however, for some reason, many in the mainstream media have accepted and have justified israel's actions in the palestinian territories, including in the most recent conflict in gaza. don't you find it odd that hamas has been labeled as such a monster here in the west while israel continues to do what it does with little criticism by our governments? it's quite easy for hamas and hezbollah, the palestinians and lebanese, to portray israel as monsters after what happened to them, don't you think? when airplanes, helicopters and tanks shoot missiles into your home and kill members of your family and ruin your life, what do you think the results of that will be? do you know how many civilians were killed and injured? do you know how many will be disfigured for life? do you know how many lost their homes? do you know how many lost a family member? the numbers are quite disproportionate compared to what the israelis have experienced. not to mention the 40+ years of occupation and the settlement increase. not to mention the walls that have cut into their lands. the checkpoints, the assassinations, the frequent kidnapping of people without any justice. it goes on and on. the fact is that those who engage in wrong acts should be held accountable. especially if it's someone who tries to pass itself as the "most moral army in the world". especially someone who is deemed as an ally and a friend and a democracy. especially someone who once experienced brutal treatment by someone else. in your opinion it is. i have in numerous occasions have expressed and condemned what hamas has done. however, this is not a 50/50 playing field. whether you look at the number of times each party has broken international law or how many civilians have been killed, it's nowhere near 50/50. so you're not going to see me follow up my criticism of israel's actions with, "oh and hamas is wrong for..." every single time i bring up what israel has done. this is a simple case of one group, bullying another group. even though i don't agree with some of the tactics the group who is being bullied, to me it's clear who has created this problem and will continue to create problems. most other things are a reaction to israel's policies. i will continue to voice my opinion and stand up for justice. justice would be to, first, stop the increasing of the illegal settlements, and eventually remove all the settlements from the palestinian territory. justice would also mean that, israel would remove the occupation and allow a palestinian state to be formed.
