  1. This has nothing to do with the "Ministry of Education" and everything to do with the private school rules that you teach at! I have two daughters who teach in public schools and believe me they don't have any such stupid rules to follow. In fact the BCTF would have a fit if a public school tried to enforce such rules.
  2. I didn't say I didn't expect to be audited but it won't take a week and there will be nothing to argue about as the HST is straightforward compared to the PST.
  3. I've been audited three times and each audit interpeted the rules different than the last auditor. The last time the auditor was with us a whole week and she only ended up with $1100. in taxes & penalities it wasn't worth my time or hers for the audit. So all I can say is bye bye to those PST auditors who are lossing their jobs!
  4. ICBC is suing http://www.icbcadvice.com for trying to help you deal with ICBC.
  5. My business will do the same it's a 6% savings.
  6. But the Campbell government is in budget trouble and it'll just get worse without more taxes. This is just the simpliest way to do it as they don't want to increase our employment tax.
  7. They think that if they say it enough it will be true.
  8. Gordo was going to have to find new revenue to balance his budget so the taxes were going to go up no matter what. But with the harmonizing the government will save money in administration so the taxes won't go up as much.
  9. B.C. to harmonize sales tax at 12 per cent next July British Columbia will be adopting a 12 per cent harmonized sales tax as of July 1, 2010 Finance Minister Colin Hansen announced today. B.C. will have the lowest Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) in Canada, by combining the seven per cent B.C. Provincial Sales Tax (PST) with the five per cent federal Goods and Services Tax (GST), for a single sales tax rate of 12 per cent, the province said. "This is the single biggest thing we can do to improve B.C.'s economy," Premier Gordon Campbell said in a press release. "This is an essential step to make our businesses more competitive, encourage billions of dollars in new investment, lower costs on productivity and reduce administrative costs to B.C. taxpayers and businesses. Most importantly, this will create jobs and generate long-term economic growth that will in turn generate more revenue to sustain and improve crucial public services." http://www.vancouversun.com/business/fp/ha...0717/story.html Hurray, I've been waiting for this for a long time!!!
  10. I thought we would never see the bad old "Tory" days of deficit spending again. Boy was I wrong!
  11. Did you know that Visa doesn't get the interest but the issuing bank does. So if you have a Royal Bank visa the Royal Bank gets all the interest income, Visa only get what it charges the retailer. So the big banks got to keep their high interest makers still.
  12. I also think we need to go back to the 10% min. payment these 2% of the balance is crazy. On the other hand the interest charged is crazy they should have made 18% max, I've seen up to 28%!
  13. No, nothing justifies taking another person’s life.
  14. These kinds of negative ads are the reason I sometimes feel like not voting for anyone. If the Liberals resort to the same pettiness I'll vote Green.
  15. Why do people insist that Green votes would have voted NDP. If Carole Taylor becomes leader of the Liberals I might vote for them again but as long as Gordon is leader I'll vote Green! I've never voted NDP in my life and I'm not likely too.
  16. Where I live the city has been divide into two and shares half of each riding with another city. So instead of one MLA we have two but both shared with larger cities. So I don't see the advantage with FPTP here.
  17. If people had read there ballots in the Vancouver civic election several years ago Sam Sullivan would never have been mayor. The independant James Green was the spoiler for Jim Green the Vision candidate: http://thetyee.ca/News/2005/11/15/JimOrJamesGreen/
  18. All I know is that Glen Clark got to be premier with the NDP having less popular votes then the Gorden Campbell Liberals, enough reason for me to vote for STV over FPTP.
  19. All those taxes need to been harmonized to the GST there shouldn't be dozens of different provincal taxes. The taxes can be harmonized at a lower rate then present so the revenue stream is the same and we don't pay more overall taxes but they need to be harmonized!
  20. My employer is paying thousands of dollars to administer the complicated PST whereas the GST is simple to administer. Believe me the final consumer of our product is paying those costs. If the PST & GST were harmonized we could rid ourselves of a whole branch of auditors int BC who have to try to enforce a complicated tax system.
  21. I wish the BC government would wake up and harmonize the GST & PST. As a bookkeeper I can tell you the hardest part of my job is dealing with the PST and understanding the rules. One of the reasons I won't vote for Gordon Campbell's Liberals is they promised to get rid of rules and red tape but with the PST they've only managed to make it worse!
  22. I'll vote Green but how many will vote for Wilf Hanni's Conservative Party in the interior. I'm voting for STV and it should be interesting to see the results this time.
  23. I've never agreed with the triple E Senate, simply abolish it!
  24. I thought we were suppose to be voting in May 2009 during the provincal election to fill the 3 seats from BC.
  25. BC is voting on May 12, 2009 and from what Gordon Campbell has said that if the feds come up with the money process we will have a vote for the 3 vacant senate seats in BC.
