  1. Out here in BC, we have the Liberals *Cough* Conservatives *Cough* & the NDP. Liberal government means mega-projects, private developers taking tax payers dollars, major business tax cuts. NDP government means all the big boy unions like CUPE, HEU, etc get a huge pay raise on the new deal, corporate tax goes up, and cost of living with it. Personally, I see no difference really, between the developers/managers taking the money & the unions taking the money. The tax payer still gets screwed in the end. Traditionally I, as well as most of the province I believe, have selected the Liberals, as the net cost of the government is lesser. At this point, I don't know anymore. I imagine if the NDP ever managed to form a government federally, which I don't believe would ever happen, things would be much the same.
  2. Stand with M. Dancer on this one. The Wikiallity shows through. You don't have any real world empirical experience with the military do you?
  3. Ok, lets compare. You have a debilitating, but curable disease, and no cash to pay for it. You decide to sell your house worth $400 to raise funds. You can either: A- Sell your house for $30,000 to pay the medical bills, have an obvious improvement on quality of life, but no more resources from which to advance yourself. B- Sell your house for $300,000 to pay the medical bills, have the same improvement of quality of life, in addition to leftover resources. A- Constitution act of 1982. B- Seeking an alternative to that proposed by the herr cult leader. It has left the country with serious handicaps, and it didn't need to.
  4. Actually the C-17's are on the way, that's a hell of an airplane.
  5. You mean like Canadians being bombed by Americans due to the lack of an emergency TACBE transmitter? Armored Personnel Carriers armored with Aluminum? These aren't things that are designed to kill people, they are designed to save lives. Simple things......we're not trying to be the Excited States, but the state of things is rather disturbing.
  6. It's like getting sucker punched 15 times in a row to avoid getting kicked where the sun don't shine. Surely their is a better way to accomplish this. Sure did leave a legacy...
  7. It's a shell, the only thing left is drill & formality. All of the training programs are gone...
  8. No poll is worthless, some are better than others. Kind of like a Rasmussen poll in the states, it's still information, and can still lead to a prediction of a result. I did try to specify, 'By these numbers.'
  9. By these numbers the NDP could be in for a smooth ride: http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/Conserva...5036/story.html If the Liberals are responsible for an election, it's a gamble, but the possibility stands that the NDP could profit rather handsomely from it with all those Ontario riding's with close calls. The Liberals have the most to lose, and most to gain.
  10. I live in BC, and I have to say.... What's the big F'ing deal? You're paying an additional 2% on a minuscule list of items, after all the taxes they pile on until we can't breath anymore, and we choose to construct an organized complaint against this? I mean seriously, surely their are bigger fish to fry? It's nice to see Canadians standing up against the government, but come on, you couldn't have picked a better subject to protest?
  11. What about the complete and utter destruction of the Cadet programs? That was a hell of a program, for the youth, that is a shell of what it once was. What the Trudeau era liberals did makes me sick...
  12. The Arrow was a mastermind of technology, but not economically feasible. Budget was way overblown, and the American's were going to roll phantoms off the line for a fraction of the cost, in fact they did. I'm an airplane guy, learning to fly for a living right now, and I just can't understand why Canadians cling to this twisted memory. It's like little guy syndrome next to the big brother. The Orenda was a loss, the Arrow was not.
  13. They're no worse than the rest of them, all of the election adds are terrible.
  14. True, but the thing that I like about Duceppe is that he rarely openly lies. If he's screwing you, he'll say it to your face. He won't sell himself short for votes, he'll do what he thinks is best and to the hell with the rest of us.
  15. Great post. The 75 Trillion figure is frightening. I think this may destroy Obama and his health care in the history books, if he ever manages to get it through. Collective action problem. For a firm to survive, they need to reduce the manufacturing and thus sale price of products. In doing so they end up reducing wages in the employees pockets, and thus, purchasing power even further. Combined with the fact that most of the population wastes large portions of their disposable income on useless crap, like replacing the Iphone every year with the new model.......well if things really do get tough, and the market for knick knacks & trinkets dries up, how many more out of work?? I personally think that credit may well be the worst evil that man has ever constructed.
  16. I think that he wants to be prime minister, and has been looking for an opportunity to make it so. EI is something to take a stance on, and should receive the backing of most of the country. Also sick and tired of being the enabler for the Conservatives continuing to govern.
  17. Big +1. The LPC post Chretien as really shifted direction though, not entirely on Ignatieff's shoulders. Bob Rae......Next!
  18. Again, not the point of the comment. I don't think you're going to see it.
