  1. Might that have something to do with CTV's distinctive right wing roots? Supporting their closer cousin?
  2. Although I'd agree with you that socialism sucks more than capitalism, they both have their ups and downs.
  3. Ah yes, I forgot which town it was where the American company owns the rights to the rainwater. There's no denying the fact that they sold their countries to the devil. The simple fact that North America consumes 25% of the world's resources on what, 5% of the population is evidence enough that your well being is earned by somebody else's sweat. Have a care, be thankful for what you have.
  4. There's more to that than political systems. What does Venezuela have to sell? Oil tanks, Venezuela loses. Cuba?
  5. We didn't want Dion during the election, why on earth would we want him now. Most especially attached to the NDP & BQ? Did John Manley not say something nearly identical?
  6. No but Capitalism is much more difficult to take advantage of than socialism.
  7. A perfect world is academia, any system can be perfect there because you can control variables, in the real world you can't. It's also why capitalism is generally so much more stable than socialism.
  8. Precisely, you are contradicting yourself now.
  9. Yes it would. Socialism can't be done right, that's the problem. You can't apply academics to the real world.
  10. That very same military industrial complex that represents what, 6% of the US GDP? I have to say, the extreme left slander get's way farther out there than the right wing equivalent. Here's the part where you throw Haliburton at me, guess what, they haven't made a penny on Iraq.
  11. I'm waiting to hear that from you when you get sick and need your health care. I support capitalism 100% more than I would ever support socialism, but it is necessary to some extent. People are irresponsible and won't plan for eventualities. I would rather pay higher taxes than sit and watch people die because they can't afford health care. If the system worked, it would be great, problem is; it doesn't work. Agree with you 100% on the coalition though. People were calling it, "New libs on the bloc." I call it, "Idiocracy."
  12. LOL, you sound like a Republican. Regardless, you my friend...live in the wrong country.
  13. Were you to decide to start your own political party tomorrow, you may say different. That's a big part of what Canada is about, giving to the little guy.
  14. Case in point: The Marxist ideology of, "To each according to his capability, to each according to his need," Is a complete failure. Human greed guarantees that consumption will always outperform production, unless kept in balance. Socialism cannot stand alone, just as capitalism cannot. Canada is a perfect example of how to make it work.
  15. The argument applies equally to both parties, therefore it should be discarded.
  16. Perhaps we'll see Peter Mackay in the future? How fitting & Canadian, the minister of national defense is a peace activist.
  17. It would annihilate the green party and cut the legal legs out from under the NDP. I for one am most happy to have them around, I think it's a terrible idea.
  18. Absolutely correct. To quote the late Taliban Jack, "In spirit....." No need to defend it, it's completely legal. However every day it appears to be more and more, morally wrong. They'll probably spend too much time fighting over who get's two chocolate bars instead of one. They're politicians. That's their #1 agenda, stay in power. Everything else is secondary. To say otherwise is an exercise in ignorance. What are you gonna do, go to work tomorrow and get fired for doing, "what's right?" The Liberal's have stumbled badly, Harper's support is at unprecedented highs. Whomever replaces Dion (Ignatieff) is left with a controversy to clean up that he never wanted to touch. Was this thing ever actually feasible? I certainly don't think so. Some of these wounds may take a very long time to heal. Most unfortunate. What did John Manley say? "Stephane Dion may well be the last person in Canada that thinks he has a shot at being PM?"
  19. Been watching some michael moore movies?
  20. What was it, 45% of Canadians currently support Harper, 61% say absolute NO to coalition, something like 28% support the coalition? How can that be called democratic were they to accomplish the coup? How can you have a democratic government without the support of the people?
  21. I would say the political spectrum in Canada looks like this. NDP--------------------------Green-----Liberal-------Centre----------Conservative. And I mean that to scale, as in the Left get's far more radical than the right. As a resident of British Columbia I would tell you that the extreme Left's mistakes are far more costly than the rights. I think the real worry here, is what is happening to the liberal party?
