What if we agreed to re-locate Israel?
Mortui replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in The Rest of the World
The reason Israel was created where it is is because of Jerusalem. It is believed to be the Jewish homeland by the Jewish people. Israel itself wouldn't agree to that. And we don't have the authority to just pick up Israel and say that it is now in Germany. How would you even propose to do such a thing? There's no way to get all those people out of the area safely. -
Haha, sad thing is that it's true I'm going to beat my head against the keyboard for a while longer though. Maybe he finally realized that he was wrong about dictators since he hasn't responded to it in a week or so. There's hope yet!

State Of The Union & Obama's Credibility
Mortui replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Really? Wait till it's at least remotely close to the speech? Let him give his speech, then criticize what you will, because I'm sure you'll find something, taking something out of context to make it look bad probably. -
Both of them are guilty. The instigator and the killer. Do you presume to say that Al Qaeda, the terrorist group behind the 9/11 attacks, isn't anti-American? That somehow, after they have committed acts of terrorism they don't mean harm to hte USA? The reason for the invasion of Iraq was weapons of mass destruction that were reported to be there. America has no empirical interests in the Middle East. In my opinion, we went there to finish the job that Bush senior didn't. This is supported by the fact that we had intelligence that proved there weren't WMD's in Iraq. Afghanistan may be backwards by worldly standards, but they are hardly inconsequential. To say that Al Qaeda and the Taliban posed no threat to the United States is woefully ignorant(see 9/11). It was actually the United States that gave Osama bin Laden power. During the Cold War. http://www.emperors-clothes.com/articles/jared/madein.htm For that matter, the United States also helped Saddam take power. http://www.globalpolicy.org/security/issue...1963cialist.htm Did you really just suggest that the Bush Administration suppressed free speach? Hell, if it did that, why do we have so much anti-Iraq and anti-Bush stuff going around? If there hasn't been adequate investigation of Saudi Arabians, it's because they control our oil. We don't want to piss them off. When did they kill American civilians for sport? And you're right, there are many in America know that it was Al Qaeda and other haters of America(ns) that sat down and started 'cutting cheques'(I assume you mean writing checks?) to harm America(ns) that is/are the polar opposites of all of their ideals, that go against everything they had been taught in life. And the US can be considered a threat to any government promoting mass murder of its citizens, harsh restrictions of personal liberties, and inhumane treatment of people.

Clarification-Saudis did not send their airplanes into the towers in New York. Saudi Arabia had no impact on the Iraqi/Afghani issue. If Saudi Arabia wanted to attack the USA, then the they would just cut off our oil supply. You can't blame the "Saudis" for doing it, just because the people who flew the airplanes were Saudi, just as you cannot blame Germans for killing Jews. Yes, Germans were the ones who killed them, but that doesn't mean that everyone promoted the mass murders, just as much as you can't say that all the Iraqis/Afghanis/Saudis believe in killing people. Don't be lame.

Did you read what you just wrote? I hate to be the one to break it to you, but such a 'marshal class' is nonexistant. The idea that you have better morals just because you inherit money from your family that goes back generations is ridiculous and downright ignorant. Good God man, look at the kings of England. By the way, if the White House was being run by 'peasants' we wouldn't be in this war, as the majority of Americans DISapprove of it. Also, the founders of the United States were of the 'merchant class'

Rev Jeremiah Wright video
Mortui replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Obama has rebuked Wright's anti-semetic views. All mentors have flaws. Obama recognizes Wright's flaw and hasn't let it influence him. Obama is definitely not racist. What terrorists around the world support him? Anti-semetic thing above. -
Next President: Barack Obama
Mortui replied to Mortui's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Are you serious? Of course he's a citizen. He was born in Hawaii. He has a birth cirtificate. Even if he was born outside of the US, he's still a citizen. His mother was born in Kansas. Get off it already. -
Obama wants to Redistribute Wealth
Mortui replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Adolf Hitler was a genius-misguided, but a genius nevertheless. Napolean Bonaparte was a genius. He was also a tyrant. Lenin-the person that led communism to the forefront in Russia during the revolution was a genius. Stalin was smart. He knew what he was doing, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to take control of the communist party. He knew how to retain power. Purely being cruel is actually one of the best ways to lose your power. History shows that a majority of dictators are intelligent-maybe not booksmart, but streetsmart. Give me an example of a tyrant that ruled only through cruelty. -

The fact that you see that it is a socialist step proves that you are being vigilant. No one is saying to let the US slide into a completely socialist state. The government is a tool of the people. Made by the people, of the people, for the people. It reflects society. When you use the government to help the citizens of a country it is not tyranny, it is using a tool available to get what needs to be done done. If power being in the hands of a few causes a corrupt government, why isn't the US corrupt? There will be no less distribution of power, there will still be three branches of government. The government isn't changing its system of power. It is using the money it gets from its people to help its people. Canada is more socialist than the United States. How can you say that it is so bad for the US to have some socialist aspects when it is working fine in Canada? Civil disobedience is a tool to keep government in check. It is one of the many things that keeps the US govenment from becoming a tyranny. Martin Luther King marched against unfair laws. He did NOT march against the US government. The federal government actually supported him for the most part, it was state governements that opposedhim. The laws were created by the people, not by the government. The people of the United States have a say in every law that is in place. That is democracy. That's why we vote. The people at that time were racist. They felt that blacks were less than them. The laws, unlike what you seem to think, were in fact, intended to limit blacks. AFFIRMATIVE ACTION IS NOT RACIST. It is the exact OPPOSITE. The government wasn't granting favor to one group over another, it was promoting equality. It is an ideology that everyone in America should recieve equal rights. It is an example of where the minority in America has fought for, and recieved, equality in society. Civilizations lead to society. Society leads to government. That's why the early government in the New England area was a theocracy. Society was Puritan. -

Tyranny affects everyone...and it respects no one. Tyrants are generally smarter than others, and have the ability to manipulate the average person. Hitler was definitely NOT of limited intelligence. Evil is not the lack of intelligence. Evil is the possession of knowledge that what you're doing is wrong and doing it anyway. -
Are you serious? Allowing the Chinese government to censor internet is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than helping them arrest activists in China. Come back when you have some brain cells for God's sake.

Obama wants to Redistribute Wealth
Mortui replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
What has failed in Canada? The healthcare? A progressive income tax? He's trying to help America...If there was no need for it then he wouldn't be where he is advocating it. He's suggesting making the government more responsible for the welfare of the citizens. The only way we can 'win' the war in Iraq is to get out and let it run itself. Staying there forever is losing just as much as pulling out in the next week would be. -
What exactly do you think Obama has done with ACORN? Are you suggesting that Obama asked the Black Panthers to fake votes for him.....

Obama wants to Redistribute Wealth
Mortui replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
If socialism is a process, it can be stopped during that process, at a point where there cease to be more benefits from furthering the process. Since the US has taken some of the benefits from a socialist society, why shouldn't we take the rest? The US has plenty of safeguards against it becoming a totalitarian state, and I have faith that it can see what is best for itself. Yes, the United States was born out of resistance to the government of Britain, but it turned around and did to itself many of the same things Britain was doing. The difference was that the US got to choose it (but not really, because it didn't even choose revolution for itself in the first place-it was forced into it by the Continental Congress which didn't actually have the right to declare independence for the colonies). I do not ask anyone to cease resisting a tyrannical and overbearing government. I ask people to allow the The United States Constitution was written because a weak government proved not to work(the Articles of Confederation). The Constitution wasn't even supposed to be written. The Confederation Congress was supposed to be revising the Articles, not writing a new document. Basically, the United States is founded on the idea of big government(federalism) and made for the benefit of the people. The purpose of government is to help the people. I say again, having some socialist aspects in your government doesn't make it entirely socialist, it makes it innovative and gives it a better chance of 'getting it right'. -
Obama's Tax Plan: How low will it go?
Mortui replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
If you would pay attention, maybe read his plan, you wouldn't bother posting this, or perpetuate propaganda like this. His plan is $200,000-$250,000 have no tax increase. Under $200,000 have a tax cut. Biden's reference was to something mentioned earlier in the interview, which is conveniently not available. And, by the way, Governor Richardson, Palosi, and Reid don't get to decide his plan. Next? -
Obama wants to Redistribute Wealth
Mortui replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
So we'll say Obama is a socialist. He knows moderation though. Instituting some socialist policies to help get the country back on track isn't a bad thing. He's not making our entire system socialist. He's suggesting using the resources at our disposal to help the people that need help. -
Obama wants to Redistribute Wealth
Mortui replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Just because someone has a few socialist ideas it doesn't mean they're socialist. Even if Obama is socialist, why does it matter? America is socialist for God's sake. We have numerous socialist programs in place-which many people are pretty damn thankful for. There's nothing wrong with a little socialism. It boggles my mind that people are so afraid of something so harmless. But either way you look at it, the American economy is in a downward spiral. By the way, how did we get out of this in the Great Depression?
