  1. Liberals should stand up for what they believe in. Here is Ignatieff commenting on a different bill that also introduces mandaTory minimums. This one on human smuggling: "We feel after much thought and reflection that this bill is in violation of the charter. Mandatory detention is just not in the Canadian tradition. We think it's not charter-proof, as a result," Ignatieff said Wednesday, after his caucus meeting. Link
  2. It's not about feeling sympathy, it's about finding effective solutions to social problems.
  3. "We had to pay off the bankers, so that they can continue to get rich at the same pace they are accustomed to. Otherwise, it would be very bad for YOU people. You'd ave to get poorer. So shut up and take it, and pay your tithes. Don't forget, tax time is coming soon. You better have the money."
  4. Are we? Not if this CPC government has its way. This is an unsubstantiated attack on freedom of choice, where there is no real danger to society or crime taking place. This is carte-blanche criminalization of people who have a personality problem. Other activities are taking place parallel to this, such as removal of drug rehab programs, and any meaningful attempt at rehabilitation in prison. Even petty mean-ness, like the shutdown of the prison farming program. Look closely, the arrogance and contempt that this party has for the common classes is showing through the cracks. They and the Liberals are now only in the game to represent the interests of the elite.
  5. They would be happy to reduce your work week. And your paycheck, accordingly. However even if they do that, more employees means more benefits payout so overall still a deficit for the employer. Good luck with that concept. The 4 billions may not have created any long term jobs, that's true. But it sure did elp the bankers to buy themselves some primo waterfront properties in cottage country, for taking "well earned" vacations.
  6. Maybe they should, Moonight Graham. Maybe they really should
  7. You just want all of us to click on your profile, don't you. Admit it, you little attention whore...
  8. I tried to point out this problem a few days ago, but my post didn't seem to get saved. I think the clock issue needs to be fixed. At night when it rolls past midnight (several hours ahead of real time) I notice that any new posts don't show up on the "New Content" link. But they do seem to still be there, when you click the "Active Content" link. I'm guessing this might have something to do with the fact that new posts made after midnight when it's still technically YESTERDAY on the real clock, is confusing the server somehow. Note that upon rolling it back, all subsequent posts for the next several hours will be listed as BEFORE posts that were made earlier, when the clock was AHEAD. Bit of a conundrum...
  9. They do not. The answer is, libertarian fiscally conservative voters simply do not vote right now. There is no one for them to vote for. And we can look back in history to see what happened, who was involved at the time to understand how this came about. Mackay et all are deceitful usurpers, traitors and swines. That is the current dilemma.
  10. Judging by the fearful reaction of US authorities, in which they had to tell other diplomats to "brace themselves" for the info they expect to be released, they are anticipating some rather uncomfortable information to come out. Suspect that this early release of info on mainstream media is intended to bore and distract the general public, so that their attention will soon be distracted elsewhere. As it so easily does, in fine propagandist style...
  11. Not much of any real substance, so far sounds like a bunch of tabloid news. "So-and so is flabbly, does not get enough sleep, parties too much..." I know tere's more to come. We want the real, nasty cheese
  12. No, Brian Mulroney did it to us, by destroying the Progressive Conservative party, and leaving us no other viable choice.
  13. Offences such as involving weapons, sexual assault of children or impaired driving all involve risk of serious harm. For this, mandatory minimums are justified. Thats a necessary part of what we call a "just" society.
  14. You donated money to an organization run by a team of liars. These people sit on their hands and do nothing, while the CPC has free reign to change this country into a totalitarian police state. Worse, the Liberals even support them in their endeavours, because they are cowards and politically motivated whores. And you want to recommend that I should do the same? :screwball_icon:
  15. I'm not completely against having mandatory minimums, for certain serious crimes. But this is a farce and complete travesty. After a number of otherwise ordinary, non violent citizens are criminalized by this unjust law, (and it will happen) people will realize it and it will fall. But that's the price that must first be paid. Meanwhile carry on voting for and supporting your corrupt leaders, convince yourselves we are a progressive free society.
  16. Bring back Paul.
  17. WikiLeaks threat sparks massive review of diplomatic documents November 25, 2010(CNN) -- The threat of publication of thousands of sensitive diplomatic cables by a website has prompted a massive review of documents at U.S. embassies around the world, a U.S. official says. The documents are believed to include hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of diplomatic reporting cables from around the world from between 2006 and 2009, the official said. If the new documents are published as threatened, the Pentagon team will help assess how damaging they are to U.S. interests. The State Department has directed every diplomatic mission in the world to analyze cables issued from their locations during that period and to highlight those cables that might contain material sensitive enough to harm the relationship with the host country. Honest diplomatic reporting is essential, the official says, and the leaks could hurt that. The source says the concern is that the WikiLeaks release could undermine the United States all over the world. --- Too late for "Honest diplomatic reporting", when all is full of intrugue, fraud and betrayal. For as my Pappy used to say, "A truth that's told with bad intent beats all the lies you can invent." And here most certainly are some bad truths being told.
  18. Yes, agreed it is rather... disproportionate
  19. Ho man, what a Liberal... Now I see, it's a conspiracy...
  20. Nice reduction but it also states that NK claims marine boundaries were violated and they were firing shells in a disputed area. And some analysts have come forward and said it is wrong to condemn NK unilaterally in this incident. There must be more to it than this, since as you already admit, they conduct such exercises routinely, all the time. So why did this one suddenly trigger a military response. It's quite likely that we are not being told the whole story here.
  21. Especially, the power of the dark side?
  22. But bloodyminded, if you truly believe that then you will know, it's also just your personal interpretation. So each of us who may think differently about it must also suffer, for you
